Morning Monday

Happy Monday! After a very dreary rainy weekend it’s sunny and gorgeous for this work day in my windowless office. But only working two days this week before vacation and only one of my meetings should be intense so hoping I can tie up a bunch of loose ends pre-trip. But ready or not I am fully disconnecting! The weather is looking ok for London but I panic-bought cute ponchos just in case.

Re: Morning Monday

  • I hope these two days go fast for you!

The weather this weekend really was miserable. But N surprised with a date night Friday at a local brewery and that was fun. Really good food too. Then Saturday I took N's daughter out prom dress shopping. And yesterday was a completely lazy day where all I did was laundry. So all in all, a good weekend.
  • Complete side note I'm going back to the clinic. Finished meds and like 2 days later my throat hurts again.
Strep again or something else? Regardless it hurts to swallow and I'm basically letting warm water trickle down my throat because it's easier.

BK had such a good weekend for the most part. Gymnastics, then hamster pick up then went to IL's for the night.

M & I went for dinner. Unfortunately I think M has now been hit with a nasty cold  :\  We both had a rough Saturday night and I woke up with a sore throat Sunday and he felt very run down.
    Tested - not covid.

M is on upswing but I can't even swallow saliva without it hurting - maybe nasal drip and just really irritated throat?
I'm going to pick up soup for lunch today. Warm seems to be the best.

  • Weekend was fun, Friday we picked up the boys from school and grabbed takeout, then we hung out with family across the street and chatted while the kids ran around with bubbles and bikes til bedtime.

Saturday we had a long time at the park in the morning and got home right before the rain. After storms and naps we went outside to splash in puddles and then went and got ice cream. Yesterday we went to breakfast with IL's and they came over for a few hours. It's very enjoyable to hang out with them when there's enough time in between visits.

Got some cleaning and picking up done here and there so at least we're not starting the week with a deficit!

A nice cream of soup sounds good, @MissKittyDanger.  Sorry you’re still feeling sick.
I’m so excited for you @STARMOON44! Checking out now is a must. Lol
hopefully that meeting goes well @banana468
Congrats on the new car (almost) @mrsconn23

weather wasn’t the greatest.  I came back yesterday from staying at my P’s for a week, and of course drove home in the rain.  When I got home I found out the glass fell and shattered on the new medicine cabinet I put up. Not even a week up.  I emailed Lowe’s, where I got it from.  It had to do with the quality (heavy glass on a stupid thin piece of sheet metal) not how we put it up.  Ugh! But I finished my tat last night so that’s good news :)

Oh and we finally were able to purchased tickets for Laurie Berkner with the kiddos and Brandi Carlile for us! The venue for both is an outdoor pavilion/amphitheater that also has huge grounds for GA admission but you can bring chairs/blankets/food/drinks/etc for those. We have GA for Brandi bc seated tix sold out in 30 minutes, but it will be fun to pack a picnic for the evening! Looking forward to summer stuff :)
I wanted to go to her!!!! I just don’t know anyone who would go.  That, and Carrie Underwood 2 nights later.  I agree that GA can be a lot of fun!

I'm surprised that Carrie is coming! Seems like a very small venue for her kind of show!

LMK if you end up getting Brandi tix!
  • @MissKittyDanger, welcome Jellybeans!  I hope you and your family start feeling better.

Great weekend.  The weather was perfect, except on Saturday.  Lots of relaxing.

My 50% off Subway footlongs is over, now that it is May.  I will miss my $4 BLTs on flatbread that were a nice, light sandwich and perfect even for breakfast.

But it's time to start eating more healthy anyway and getting into better habits, all around.  Forget New Year's resolutions.  May is a positive and sunny month to make changes in.

  • Weekend was good! I saw Six on Friday and it was INCREDIBLE! Seriously it was so so good. Went to a wedding Saturday night- it was far from the house but a ton of fun and they had an ice cream bar.

Started my Monday with two cavities being filled. The Novocain didn’t totally work after like 4 shots. My entire face is swollen. Camera off all day for me.

This is where I show my age.

Every time I see Brandi Carlile's name, my mind first goes to Belinda Carlisle.  And I have to remind myself that Brandi is a different and much younger person with music that is popular now, not 35 years ago, lol.

But I do like them both.

Speaking of similar names, I've been watching Bones reruns because one of the channels I have has been running the series (kind of) in order.  I forgot how much I liked that show.  It has a lot of unique story lines.  I thought it was just a coincidence that Emily (main character on Bones) and Zooey Deschanel had the same last name.  But no. I discovered this weekend that they are sisters, lol.

  • @short+sassy, Brandi and Belinda took a pic together in the last year or so and were joking about how they get 'confused' for one another.

@charlotte989875, I am hoping Six tours here for the 2024-2025 season because I really want to see it.  Boo to dental work and a swollen face.

They had this show on the cruise that @CharmedPam and I went on in January.  We watched it twice, it was so good!

I honestly don’t know what I like more.  Hamilton or Six.

Feel better @charlotte989875 and sending comfort your way today @mrsconn23
Excited for you @STARMOON44 and you too @Casadena

Wet weekend here too.  Celebrated my niece's communion Saturday and got some good cleaning done yesterday.

  • My Monday did not start off well.  I was running kind of late anyway.  Get into the garage and yay! I left the interior light on all weekend, apparently.  Got a jump from a friend, came in.  Someone was fired today.  No one is terribly shocked by it, but the entire city is hurting for good paralegals right now and IDK what is going to happen.  I'm halfway tempted to just volunteer to take her entire case load, which would give my about 55 cases, but IDK, that could definitely backfire.  I'm going to see what it would look like for me and think about it for a bit.

The weekend was a bit of a bust.  It's my fault and I'm not mad at myself, but I need to continue working on changing some things around.  I have finally ordered a properly sized sports bra and I'm excited about trying it.  It's one of those she-fit and I was interested because it's a front clasp and has the adjustable straps.  It looks far easier and more comfortable to put on than what I have right now.  Sorry everyone, for the incoming ads.  Hopefully it makes it easier to work out, b/c when you have to wrestle with getting the sports bra on/off, it's just blech and makes it easy to tap out.

Otherwise, SSDD.  Just watched some TV, did my chores, and chilled.  My allergies got pretty rough on Sunday, so I stayed in.  Will see Mom on Wednesday and hopefully get out some more this weekend.

@MissKittyDanger Adorable!!! Sorry you are sick again though.

@banana468 Jurassic Park is amazing, right?  Crazy that it is that old and yet still so good.

@VarunaTT I do like the front clasp bras, they have definite advantages.  I do have one though that as I wore it the clasp sits funny, which is too bad.

Weekend was wet, but had lots of fun with nephews.  They enjoyed Dungeons and Dragons, which made me happy.

I worked w/ the kiddos to clean up their play area.  Chiquito was not cooperative at all (he was tired guys.  Lifting toys to put them away is much harder work than ensuring Paper Mario wins).  But after a lot of discussion and ensuring him that he'd have NO screen time while refusing to help me we now can see carpet and in between the kids doing stuff the family has clean clothing.
DD has, I think, ADHD. Part of it is being easily overwhelmed (many such cases, myself included).

DS1 will just go at a mess - pick up one thing, move on to the next - and get it done pretty quickly, but with DD I have to do all this and also help and also break it down into manageable pieces for her.

Yeah I have to work on that with Chiquita.  Sunday her tactic to start cleaning was to sew a pillow.

    I know that feel, lol.

I am really trying to frame everything in the idea that it's really hard for both of us to do something unless it's challenging, interesting, or urgent - and the things that fall into those categories for me are not the same as for her. But I get frustrated a lot.
