Why not invite everyone out to a bar to meet him?

Dear Prudence,

How does someone introduce a partner to their friends and family? For context, I (F, early 20s) live across a sea from my family, as I’m completing my studies. My partner (dating half-a-year) lives in the neighboring country, approximately five hours away, and we see each other every month. This works for us for now. Most of my friends and family know that I am dating someone, but I have no idea how have them meet. Plane visits are not an option, currently, and I don’t invite my friends out so frequently. For this reason, I feel it would be awkward to invite everyone out to a bar just for them to meet him. I’ve met a few of his friends, and his close family from regular events they have. Any tips?

How do I create a social event without creating a social event? The mental gymnastics of this are driving me crazy!

I find the letter a bit confusing.  It sounds like the LW doesn't live near her family either.

If so, for the family, the LW should set up a Facetime call during one of the times she is with her partner.

What's with this excuse, "I don't invite my friends out frequently"?  Okaaayyy.  Then stop being a bad friend and initiate some outings.  Invite the partner along, when they are in town.

Tell me you don't want to introduce your partner to your F&F without telling me you don't want to introduce your partner.

This is just overthinking to the point of avoiding it. H and I were long distance when we first started dating. When we would visit each other, we'd usually meet up with a couple of each others' friends here or there and slowly met most of our social circles in clumps. Sort of exactly the same way you'd do it if you lived locally. I can't help but wonder if LW is making a big deal about this for other reasons.
