Hey! Are you using the portable bar? I didn't use it, I used one of there long rectangle tables to set up all the wine. I had a wine bucket also to put them in. For the other drinks, beer and ice we just had coolers. I was a little worried about doing it that way but it worked out perfect. If you are using the portable bar I would have it set up in the room where the food goes right when you walk in. We had 15 tables upstairs and still had a bigger dance floor then I thought! I did not use the downstairs. We put the presents down there. People where still going down there so you could easly set up tables and it work out good. It turned out better then I could have imagined and everyone loved it.Thank you!

You make me feel better every time you tell me something about your wedding reception.I was originally planning doing the same think you did for your bar. FI thinks are friends will drink all the alcohol before we get to the reception so we are having a bartender. So we are going to do the rolling bar. Good idea where to put the bar.We are planning to have 14 tables upstairs & 8 tables down stairs. We will have the candy table, gift table downstairs. How did the non assigned seating go? Did that work okay?

Don't worry it will work out great! I had all the same worries as you but no one to help with the place :). I was worried too about all the drinks being gone but we bought a lot of all different stuff and had some left. I was very surprised. But if you have big drinkers that is prob. a good idea to use the bartender. We did run out of wine quicker so def. get more of that. We only had one kind left. Your set up sounds perfect! I think that will look great.I had 3 reserved tables. Bride & Groom, Groom's Family, and Brides Family. The wedding party sat at our table with us. His family and then mine. The rest of the seating was great. There where no problems.Do you have a DOC?

So are you saying in that small room next to the big room upstairs, do the food and bar? Or did I read that wrong? Also, where did you put you cake? Ha poor you, had to be the guiney pig and now we have all of these questions for ya! :)

I really didn't want to use the downstairs, but it's there and everyone knows it's a fire station. so oh well. did everyone love the fire station? We have such a big wedding party we are reserving 8 tables for them. I don't have a DOC I am paying. My FSIL will be the DOCs. I saw you mention in a couple of post you highly recommend it. I think I am too late to higher one. Hopefully the FSIL will be good enough. One more question (sorry for the million and 1 questions)... do you know if the people at the fire station set up the tables and chairs where you wanted them or did your DOC do all the heavy lifting?

I think she did the cake on the antique table up against the wall on the right when you walk in. That's where I am going to set up ours. I feel so bad asking all the questions. Everything looks so awesome!

Lol! It is ok! Yes the smaller room upstairs right when you walk up to the right we had the food and all the drinks set up. It is a big room also so there was plenty of room. My cake went on the credenza thing they have there on the left side of the main room. I didn't think it would fit but it did. So that worked out really great.

STB- Everyone loved it and has said they had a great time and it was lovely. It is a lot of work the day of to have it somewhere like that so you need all the help you can get. I cannot imagine having to set everything out myself and do all those things the day of. As long as you have someone helping that day it should be great! The Fire Sation sets up all the tables and chairs. I did tell my doc how I wanted it to be and maybe she moved it a little. So make sure when you go in the morning they are how you want.

I know! Seeing you wedding Rach has made me want to finalize and book it! I've been super nervous about my final vision that I haven't done anything because I didn't think it was possible. I can wait to see yours either! Good questions though.

FI has talked about renting the place on Thurs before our wedding so we have that whole day to decorate, then all we will have to worry about is getting linens and other deliveries for the day of, but I don't know if they would let us do that. Our wedding would be on a Friday so its not a problem of cleaning up before their cutoff time since but we haent talked to them about that yet.

Primo you can rent it any day of the week I think.

Rach: what all did you DOC do besides help with the set up the morning of?we are going to go to the fire station the weekend before to take a look at it again with FSIL so they can see how I want everything laid out. So hopefully that helps with them. Primo: We talked to our DJ about the up lighting and we are doing a teal. He said that the up lighting won't really show on the ceiling since the ceiling is so dark. I know you were concerned about that. I can't wait to see how ours turns out too! I am anxious!

hey ive got a questions too. thanks so much rach for helping us out!!!as far as alcohol...how does all that work? can you just bring ur own liquor and set it up on the table, or what? is there an extra charge for having alcohol?we arent intending to have any alcohol, but i know FI and his friends would enjoy it- so if its not too difficult or costly then we may do it.

She did everything! And I do mean everything. My rehearsal at the chruch, ran the order during the ceremony. Made sure everyone got there flowers. Set up all the stuff at the reception. It is a lot of small stuff you don't even think of I am sure you know. We had got some cheese trays and fruit for before and she served that all. She made the timeline for the reception. She also ended up cutting and serving the cake. Made sure all my vendors where there and set up on time and in the right spots. Cleaned up and returned all vendor stuff. She did way more then that, those are just a few. She was amazing.

Taylor- You can bring any drinks you want. We bought Beer and Wine. People also could bring something else if they wanted but didn't really. DH bought a big bottle of crown to drink and kept it at our table. We also had champagne for the toast.

Yep no biggie. You just can't "sell" it b/c heights is dry. I believe it is in the contract online.

the fire station allows you to bring whatever you want. They just limit to bring machines and kegs upstairs. Also, they won't allow you to have a cash bar. it says it in their contract.we are doing beer and wine as well. we are bring a few bottles of liquor for people who want cocktails. we have a liquor person who will be providing our alcohol and whatever we don't drink he takes back and charges only what we drank, which is good. So we don't have a butt load of beer at our house.

Cleopatra Catering. They have catered at the fire station for many events. That's why I chose them because they knew alot about the fire station and of course the food was good.Who did you use?I love how the chair covers turned out! Very elegant.
