Omg it’s summer weather here and I am loving it. Have a pretty quiet day work wise so treating myself to lunch outside and then meeting a friend for margaritas in the city. An ideal day. And tmrw I lucked out- a friend of a friend broke her arm and can’t use her theater ticket so I snagged it, seeing Camelot. And then Sunday will be pool reading time. I was really depressed after the IVF failure, and then on top of that had a severe cold, the worst period of my life, and a lot of stomach issues. So it’s nice to finally feel myself again and be able to look forward to leaving the house!
Re: Lazy Friday
We're getting up tomorrow at the ass crack of dawn and heading down to NJ to the survival school N is involved with. They always have a cleanup weekend before the summer classes start, so that's what we'll be doing until Sunday when we head home.
Not too much going on here. My treadmill is supposed to arrive today. We have to finish Ted Lasso and MAFS this weekend. I am ready to sleep in tomorrow. This morning H had a night terror and woke me up by telling me there was a ghost hovering over me. I swear if anything actually horror related happens at night I’ll die because H has completely desensitized me.
60. So now my really cute summer top for yacht rock style is going to be hanging in the closet while I bust out a navy sweater.
@levioosa that is creepy AF and if you know me, I’m a creepster!
weekend is nice and relaxing. Tomorrow my friend and I are going to see The Little Mermaid with her daughter and have a cookout/bonfire at night so should be fun. Nothing else really.
Warning, child ghosts/deaths:
The neighbors and landlord all had a similar story about the history of the house. When she lived there, it was an up/down duplex. She was on the first floor. But in the 1910s, it was a SFH occupied by a grandmother and her two grandchildren. An older sister and her brother, but they were both little kids. A fire broke out and all three people died.
The grandmother's ghost was in the upper unit, but she was mean. The landlord could never get tenants to stay. They'd move out after only 1-2 months. My friend often heard heavy footsteps from upstairs, even when the unit was vacant.
The two children haunted the downstairs. But they were more impish and not mean. My friend makes her bed every day and leaves her latest book on the bedside table. A few times a week, she'd come home from work and her book would be under the bed covers. She sometimes felt cold spots in the house and her cat would hiss at them. She sometimes could swear she heard children's voices but, when she'd cut off any noise to hear better, the voices would stop. Until one day in the kitchen.
The children's voices were a little louder than usual, but she still couldn't tell for sure if that is really what the noise was. She'd only hear it if she had the sink faucet running. She kept turning the faucet on and off quickly, trying to catch it. Then she started to turn the faucet, as if she was going to turn it on, but stopped at the last second. She clearly heard a little girl's voice at a normal volume, as if she was standing just a few feet away say, "Ssshhh! She'll HEAR you!"
My friend said it just freaked her right TF out! She didn't say anything. She started walking toward her front door. Putting her shoes on as she was walking and grabbing her purse/keys without breaking stride. She walked out of the house and down to a nearby bar where she was a regular. Sat down at the bar, still not saying a word. The bartender noticed her catatonic stare. Made her normal drink. Brought it over to her and said, "I see you've met the kids."
All the hugs and vibes your way @STARMOON44 , I'm glad you're having an uplifting weekend
Today is my birthday, so there are some fun things happening this weekend for me too.
It's been a weird week, sick kid on Tuesday, work wed, off yesterday for a G checkup and then we took both boys to the aquarium and they LOVED it. Alligators and the model of the yellow submarine (their current fave song) were big hits. Even though there were only 2 work days i'm VERY ready for the weekend.
Have fun tomorrow @banana468
@STARMOON44 I'm glad youre feeling better and have some fun things to look forward to *hugs*
@CharmedPam, I thought about you the other day when I was on subReddit about buying houses. But geared to normal homebuyers, not investors.
Someone posted they had found their dream house, but were worried about the resale value because their backyard abutted a cemetery and the cemetery could clearly be seen from all the windows on that side of the house. They were looking for opinions and if that would be a dealbreaker for the people replying.
I was thinking, "Pam would see that as a perk!" Seriously though, other than also worrying about resale and extra time to sell, I think it would be great. I find cemeteries to be calming places and they're certainly quiet.
I was surprised how many people that was a dealbreaker for. It was roughly 40%. But for the people who would consider it, they pretty much all said they wouldn't buy it unless it was a better deal compared to similar comps.
@CharmedPam, I know the story of Robert the Doll, but I didn't know there was a show! When my godmother did ghost tours the house was on it, but I was way too freaked out to go see him in the museum. I'll have to see if we still have max.
@STARMOON44 I’ve heard nothing but good about St Lucia. My brother/SIL chose that spot for their honeymoon and want to go back. I’m like… don’t you want to see other spots? Nope. They’re good with just that one! Lol
@short+sassy, I would totally be OK next to a cemetery. Usually it’s smaller towns around here who have houses right next to them. I don’t think I’d go LOOK for a cemetery next to one…. i search for walking distance bars with trivia nights lol
@MyNameIsNot, the documentary is really well done! Flashbacks to acting scenes with a story well
told and also interviews with real people.
BK is fine - but she was up for an hour and half because her tummy wasn't feeling well.
Good news - no fever, and always made it to potty.
She got gravol and took an extra nap this morning.
She's fine and at IL's. M is picking her up before gymnastics.
Also because SFIL has been unwell {he's fine} I get to snag tix to see "Jagged Little Pill" with MIL on Saturday night!
It is HOT here today. I had lunch with a friend whom I haven't seen since Christmas. The twins arrive tomorrow for a week. We will be going to the pool at some point.
We just have regular outings scheduled for the time they are here except we are going to see the triple A baseball team here in town. The twins have never been to see a baseball game. I don't know who is more excited them or PaPa! H has been talking about doing this since they were born! I'm going too but I'm not nearly as excited as them LOL.
Have a great weekend everyone!
