Happy Monday!

I think I have listed as a weekend plan here “clean my closet” like a dozen times and I am so proud and excited to report I’ve actually done it! 8 large bags of clothing went out the door to donate and it’s fresh and clean and organized. I’m so proud! And I just realized I have a 4 day weekend coming up, took Friday off because I have a ton of use it or lose it says to use up by September and then Monday we are closed for Juneteenth. Which means this week is 4 days, next week is 4 days, the week after that is also 4 days because I’m taking Friday off, and the week after that is only 3 days because 4th of July. I’m so excited just writing that down!

Re: Happy Monday!

  • Weekend was good.
BK has nasty allergies, so love that for us.

Claritin sucks. I prefer Reactin - personally and for BK.
Claritin doesn't work well, and it's suppose to be a 24hr one. BK barely gets 12hrs relief.

Reactin at least gives option of full dose once a day or split and do half and half. So I got it again and we're back there.

BK stayed at my mum's Saturday night, so I was able to take a nap. I've been sleeping fine at night, but not getting well rested.
    Idk.

Anyways we got some errands done and M finished a drawer that's been on his "to do" list for awhile.
I was ready to go on the ikea closet but apparently one part is pick up only? Not delivery?
I'm talking to M about stuff because he doesn't wanna build it so we're going thru task rabbit. However! I maybe see if we can do pick up and then task rabbit it.

    We'll see.
I cleaned up the counter space and BK's art spot so she can find things easier.

With school coming to a close, we're ready to get rid of a lot of art.
I keep some but a lot is just recycling.
  • Fairly productive weekend for me too. I've been working on pressure washing our walkways. It's so satisfying to see the paver stones change color. I'm about 2/3 of the way through, so I think one more day working on it and it will be done for the year.

A friend is having surgery tomorrow so I decided to send flowers. Holy cow, florist fees are ridiculous. The flowers themselves are reasonable, but then there's a $20 handling fee on everything. It's like ticketmaster or something. If her mom wasn't around, I'd send cookies or something instead, but I know her mom body shames her about everything and I don't want to do that to her.
  • @STARMOON44 and @climbingsingle there’s no better feeling than that! Getting rid of clothes you’ll never wear again.  You have to reload the closet though
@Casadena, no yesterday was not a day to swim!
@MyNameIsNot, sorry she has to go through that! I have a friend who works customer service for a popular floral company, and while I know there’s more than flowers on the sites, she’s always busy! I’m like… hmm… I don’t know anyone who orders flowers anymore?!?

Weekend was so good.  Girls day trip to the next state over.  We love those days because a 2 hr drive gets us away from our area, but we drive back home and don’t need a hotel.  We did lunch, a river cruise, museum, shopping and winery. A lot really. Plus I got to listen to my podcast and finish out the 5 parter on HH Holmes.
sunday was brunch with some new ladies I never met before. It’s nice meeting new people.  Not sure why I say I hate people lol.

  • @CharmedPam where did you go? That day trip sounds lovely
  • YAY purging.  I love it so much.  We did some last month and it was amazing to get rid of stuff.

    Weekend was good.

DH and I met at Costco Friday after work and then had a pretty chill evening.
Saturday, we went hiking.  We were gone from about 9am until 2:30pm.  BIL showed up at 3:30pm.  We grilled for dinner and just hung out for the evening.  Poor BIL ended up sick as a dog later in the evening because he inadvertently ate something with gluten in it when he was on the road and it tore him up (he and youngest niece are intolerant) .
Sunday, the weather was crap and BIL was on the struggle bus, so we had a very chill day.

We're about a month away from our trip, so we're in full on prep mode.  DH watched a lot of youtube videos yesterday looking for tips on hikes and times of day to do stuff.

LeClaire Iowa. It’s kinda like a mini Galena.  Way less crowded and cheaper.  We had enough to do because there was a craft fair going on (pretty smalll one I may add)

  • I didn't do much this weekend. Saturday was just the usual household chores.  Our Pride seemed to go smoothly.  The Proud Boys did show up, but somehow (IDK how, b/c I argued with the city about this every year I ran it) they were forced to stay outside of the actual square where the festival was.  GOOD.  No other issues that I have been made aware of.  Sunday I went to see Hedwig and the Angry Inch for Pride movies month.  This Saturday is Birdcage and I'm excited to see that on the big screen again.

I have also cleaned out my dresser of clothes that I'm not wearing again and are just worn out.  They were all 10+ years old.  I have all new workout clothes, sneakers, and socks.  Now, I just have to convince myself to exercise.

LeClair is a great little town! They have an annual tug of war every august across the river - IA vs IL - and we've been a handful of times. My parents have lots of friends in the quad city area and it's always a fun get together :)
  • The weekend was good. The twins' birthday party was Saturday. They had a bounce house and invited their nanny share friends plus a family down the street. It was chaos but that is to be expected! They loved their birthday cake and the parents of all the kids loved it too. One Dad said he wasn't going to have any but then heard it was "imported" from our bakery. He said it was so much better than the grocery store variety. LOL - Nana knows her birthday cakes! We got home yesterday afternoon. I took a nap then we headed to see Ain't Too Proud - The Temptations Story. It was great! It was the last part of my Christmas present from H - Tina Turner was the first part.

Today I was suppose to have a stretch therapy appointment but it was cancelled at the last minute. I got a much needed pedicure instead and reschedule the stretch appointment. Now I'm getting the house back in order after a week with 2 almost 5 year olds!

I have friends arriving next week for our annual girls' trip. They are flying to Indy then we are driving to Michigan. I am semi re-doing two of the bedrooms upstairs (their arrival is the impetus). I'm just getting some new bedding to replace some really old stuff. One of the coverlets I've ordered arrived in Indy yesterday but isn't scheduled for delivery until Saturday WTF!
  • Weekend was PACKED.  Chiquito had a Saturday AM baseball game and Chiquita had two Saturday PM soccer games.  In between the first and second games we dropped Chiquita off at MIL and FIL's to sleep over while we went to DMB.

Show was great!  He played some new stuff and a TON of old stuff which I loved.  I left wanting more and it took until Sunday afternoon to stop smelling weed (and that's not something DH and I partake in).  Luckily my new clear fanny pack held the essentials and let me in through security theater (sorrynotsorry - I think it's still an absolute joke the way Live Nation created the policy and think it's absolute BS) but for less than $15 I played their game.

Sunday was church and then last night was the Cub Scout blue and gold dinner.  Chiquito made a cake and it looked GREAT.  He had the "most realistic campfire" award!

And  now we're making Chiquita go dairy free because I think her gut is telling AAAALLLLLL of us that she should be.
  • Good luck with the dairy elimination @banana468!

Also, I loved the Blue and Gold dinner.  The derby and that are the two things I miss about Scouts.
  • @banana468 the good thing about dairy free, is there are more options than even 10 yrs ago.
Also I'm assuming you'll talk to her dr, but at least if it's a lactose issue - there is lactade she can have on hand in case.

@ILoveBeachMusic I joke with M that I want a bounce house for my 40th bday lmao

@charlotte989875 glad everything went well :)
  • M & I joke we're about to hit a new point of our lives.
BK is old enough and knowledgeable enough that we could tell her to go down, get a bear paw or bowl of pre-poured cereal and watch netflix before we go down.
Tbh we haven't tried this and with summer coming, it'd be nice to have a little extra time to sleep in.

When did everyone else allow it for their kids?

We're also waiting another full year to officially pull the monitor but we're attempting to use it less. It'll stay on at night but not bring it down after she goes to bed.

I'm really hesitant but M & I agree it's us and not BK lol
  • @MissKittyDanger since DH already has his own experiences w/ lactose and technically humans should be lactose intolerant as they age we're trying to go with the no milk/cream for right now and should she want an ice cream then we'll grab a Lactaid tablet.  We already have them stocked for DH's needs.

If we don't start to see an improvement then we'll get her physician involved but for now this is going to be the start.  Knowing the family history is going to be the first play since it costs us only the food to not consume.

The Ben and Jerry's non-dairy ice cream is very good and I don't think anyone would know it was vegan.  I also like the coconut milk ice cream, but just beware the first few times you use it; coconut is a natural laxative and until you're used to it, it can be a nightmare if you overindulge.

    Good to know!

At this point since she's also a picky kid I'm hoping to use this as a jumping point to try new food.

We're currently at "Mom that can of soup has carrots and you know I hate carrots," as she mopes from the couch.

I'm needing to reiterate that the phrase that she does not love how something tastes is not a reason not to eat it and I never told her she should love all the food she eats.  There will be some food she loves and some food she tolerates but eating healthy is going to be important especially as the body grows and changes.

Honestly one of the things I love most about being an adult is having agency over the food I put in my body. No mom I never needed to eat chicken breast, I still hate it, and now I never have to! Kale is nasty. And so is soup.

The issue right now is that she's not open to trying other options.   And I'm not going to force things on her once she tries and makes a decision but she needs to try rather than decide that she "thinks" strawberries are disgusting.

No feeling like a good decluttering of a closet!

@banana468 my oldest recently announced she wanted to eliminate dairy (one of her friends is lactose intolerant and I think she wants to be too  :D )  It's thankfully an easy food group to avoid.  It's only been going on for a month but it's been fine so far.  (She's obviously welcome to have dairy since it doesn't impact her health, but if she chooses not to, that's also fine.)  But with you on it's okay for kids to know they don't like something so not eat it, but really frustrating if they aren't willing to try it in the first place.
  • Yeah - for Chiquita especially who has studied nutrition in school and in GS I don't have an issue with her deciding she doesn't like something after she tried it.  But at this point she can't tell me that the only fruits/veggies she wants to eat are apple sauce, brussels sprouts, corn on the cob when in season and bananas.
