Wednesday

Good day so far today! H has been coming out of his slump a little and it's been so nice. Boys were super cute and fun this morning. I like my outfit. Work is good. No complaints! How is everyone else today?

Re: Wednesday

  • @Casadena, glad you are having a good day!

I had a fun night, last night.  My friend and I went to a cocktail and cooking demonstration at a local library, of all places, lol.  After that, we went out to dinner at a restaurant I had been wanting to try.  It was pretty good.  I plan to go back because they have a crab rangoon dip I'd like to try.  I just had other things I wanted to try first last night and no room to also order that dip, lol.

Work had picked up a little.  But I was done with everything left from the week (so far) by 8am.  And now I'm back to twiddling my thumbs.  I can't start my weekly report until tomorrow, so can I just skip ahead in the space-time continuum to Thursday, lol?

  • Fun @short+sassy, you reminded me I have 4 cooking demo tickets near me.  And I want to use them because exH and I went in halfers on them! Lol
yay to a good day @Casadena

Yesterday I had ultherapy.  Read; electric shock therapy to your face.  Before you ask if it hurts, it hurts like a MF. It’s basically using electric currents on your muscle layer, to tighten the skin (it replaces face lifts).
Last week I wanted my upper face done, and it took 10 minutes, I kid you not. She just went ahead and ran the machine over my face, told me I should have taken tylenol before it and good luck with the pain!
I noticed my jowels have been extra joweley so purchased lower face/neck for yesterday.  It took an hour! She even numbed the area too (highly highly recommend!) which added 20 minutes, plus she really took her time so I felt like I got a lot more out of the session from her. I ended up taking more than 1 hr for lunch with the drive time involved.  Oops. I won’t see results for 4-6 weeks though.

  • I had a dental check up and I'm really glad they didn't polish because I had such a headache that I would have ruined it all with coffee.

I'm still not feeling better, but headache is lowering. I think we're gonna get some nasty weather soon tbh
  • I’m annoyed at little things at work today; someone asking for a one- day turnaround on something that isn’t high priority; people changing files then being like “I don’t understand technology can you get it back”. I’m a data scientist not IT but yes I can. Just because I *can* do these things for you doesn’t mean you can’t figure out how to do them yourself.

    I’m being petty but still.
My work petty/rant is people who listen to music in a cube environment, without using their headphones.  I hate it so much.  It drives me up the wall.

They're playing it soft.  But it's still loud enough I hear constant, scratchy noise.

I've never experienced this before in my years of working in cube rooms.  But now this is the second person in a few months.  The first one moved further away from me, so yay.  The latest person is new and even worse.  I'll give it a day or two but, if it is going to be constant noise like this, I need to say something.  I shouldn't have to wear my noise blocking headphones all day because he doesn't want to wear headphones.  I'd like to think they don't know how maddening it is, so I'll be nice.  But it seems obvious to me.

  • I'm still in my weird mental space.  I think I'm burned out, by a lot of things.  I was home last night and just thought, I am so tired of this city.  There are so many good things for me personally here as a single human, but as a community and professional human, it's terrible.  At some point, it's not because I'm not trying, it's b/c it's not here.  And I've had to start...3? groups/communities for myself and I'm tired of that level fo work/volunteering.  I'm still staying for mom; while I'm not ready for any sort of conversation with her, it's apparent she is starting to rely more and more on outside help.

I'm about to put in for a staycation, just to take a break.

    Otherwise, SSDD.
  • @VarunaTT hope your spirits are lifted soon
@mrsconn23, sad to hear of layoffs, but glad you’re ok.  I hear you on better eating/workouts when at home. I can sleep in AND have a longer workout on wfh days. But I also like the interaction.

Has anyone tried the grimmace birthday meal with shake yet? Super good marketing to throw in a mystery shake with a meal only.  Like, what is it!?!? I need to know! And reviews are split down the middle on it.
unpopular opinon but I’m not a fan of their fries.

I understand how you're feeling.  I picked up my life once and left everything behind.  And am going to do it again sometime in the next year.

It's hard to leave the "devil you know", but it gets to a point where you realize the current situation just isn't working anymore and that isn't going to change.  But then there is also the uncertainty of the new place being worse or not much of an improvement.

I'm not advocating for either choice.  That's a decision you need to make and at least there isn't a timeline for it.  But I sympathize and know the struggle well.

On a local radio station, the milkshake was described as purple in color and a mixed berry flavor.  I’ve heard “testimonies” that swing from “more vanilla than berry” to “tastes like children’s grape flavored Claritin”.  Supposedly you can try to request the shake without the meal.

My insanity will begin when the Squishmallow Happy Meal launches.  My kids were young when McD’s offered the mini beany baby Happy Meals.  Some of my friends/neighbors were legit obsessed with that collection.  I might have to start frequenting McD’s once those dang Squishmallows arrive on scene.
  • Last years halloween buckets, this years squishmallows… we can all agree McD’s knows what they’re doing.

  • This makes me want to try it even more

  • @MobKaz my kids were totally into the beanie baby craze - I still have some that the grandboys play with.

Yes!  I have enough here that when the grands play "pet shop" we can divide them into farm animals, household pets, jungle animals, arctic animals, ocean friends,  and even "exotic" animals LOL  IF we had a few of the McD ones, they were incidental and NOT purchased based on the "beany of the week".  I had one neighbor that spent the summer schlepping across the neighboring counties searching for specific animals.

I admit it was me who inadvertently started the Squishmallow insanity.  I found the first based on a holiday theme, then it became a "need to represent every holiday" to just plain Grammy insanity.  But they love them and do actually play with them.
  • Ugh.  Squishmallows!

Each kiddo has a giant Grogu one and they've started collections.  Chiquita's bed is filled with pillows and Squishmallows!

I had no idea what you were talking about yesterday with the Grimace birthday shake.

And then, as if you were the harbinger of all things McDonalds, I saw my first commercial for it last night, lol.

I'm not much of a shake person, other than a Shamrock Shake.  And I'm still salty that none of the McD's in my area have carried it for the last few years during March.  But it's neat this shake is a purple color.

I might have been tempted if it had a strong berry flavor.  But I also looked up the reviews and, at best, it tastes good but mostly like vanilla.  With a lot of people also complaining it has a chemical taste.  I'm going to pass on this one.

  • I haven't seen the commercials but did stop at McD's for an iced coffee and it came in a Grimmace Birthday cup.

I used to love their seasonal "Mountain Raspberry" shake back in the day.  Yum!
