Wedding Woes

Thursday

My little city is famous for it's summer theatre.  It's run by a university, it's equity which is an excellent experience/opportunity for the students (especially the ones who are getting ready to graduate), and it brings in some fairly decent star power.  My little city is also home to some of the biggest bigots in the nation, being the "buckle" of the Bible belt.  The summer theatre is showing The Prom, which is a show about a lesbian student who wants to attend prom with her girlfriend.  Prom is cancelled rather than allow this to happen.  Our summer theatre would usually sell out just with season ticket holders if the theatre didn't purposefully hold back tickets for each show.  Well, this seasons ticket holders this year refused to buy a season ticket and bought only for the first two shows (which weren't GAAYYYYOMGGAAYY).  The community rallied around the show and it's now sold out by individuals buying tickets.  I'm very proud of us, even if it means I have to go see damn outside summer theatre (though I have been told I'm under one of the big fans).  It still pisses me off and I'm very concerned that this changes the shows the summer theatre picks.

Otherwise SSDD.  I busted out a lot of work yesterday and I have plans for the next 2 days and I think vacation should be just fine.  I sometimes forget that I'm damn efficient and have plans in place to deal with things, so I don't actually have as much to do as I thought, b/c I did a bunch of pre-work and things are flowing.

Yay for the sellout, boo for the bigots.

Have a few parties this weekend so just a lot of cooking and baking over here, while counting down until my PMS headache subsides.
  • @VarunaTT, I'm glad to hear you've gotten a lot of work done.  You need your WHOLE vacation next week!  Try not to even think about work and the major problem you're helping to fix.  You're doing your part and your boss sounds like the kind of person who knows that and isn't begrudging your vacation days either.

At least the show sold out, despite some of the season ticket holders.  I also hope that doesn't influence future shows this university puts on.  It would be awesome if this show brings in NEW people to buy season tickets for next year, the season tickets sell out, and those bigoted jerks lose their place.

I had a fruitful meeting at work yesterday and another great impromptu one today.  They added to the better, more positive feelings I've been having about my role at work.  I might even put off my move until they'll definitely let me WFH (eek).  Not just for that reason, but it's become a depressing sellers market in my area.  I need to speak to my realtor, but I think I'm better off waiting until next year than trying in Fall.

Since @mrsconn23 is on vacation today, I assume she isn't posting Prudie.  I'll do that on my lunch hour.

I just saw the breaking news that the FDA has finally approved an OTC birth control pill!  No age restrictions either.  I don't know why they didn't do that years ago but, whatever.  At least it's here now especially with so many states being such AHs about abortions and "suspicious" about even miscarriages.  I only hope it is also affordable because that could still be a barrier for teenagers or low income people without health care.

  • I think the stress of the last week is catching up to me. We had an offsite yesterday and I was drained, had a bad headache when I got home and still don’t feel any better. I think I’m going to leave and nap for a bit then work from home in the afternoon.
  • oh, i ended up ordering a lot of my prime day stuff. Visual timers/alarms for the boys, silicone mats to put under their potties and save our floors (boys are so messy, omg), a crystal exfoliator/hair remover, yoga pants, a kids fire tablet for G to try, and a couple other random things. Overall not crazy! Did anyone else find anything good?
  • I think I have at least a care solve for Chiquita for the day of DH's cousin's wedding so that's half my battle solved there.

DH did pick up a couple of after market Nintendo switch controllers and docks so we have some backup.  Chiquito has trashed those controllers which are $40 / ea so the $20 is a major savings.
