Wedding Woes

Terrible Tuesday

Tuesdays always drag - what's up with everyone?

Re: Terrible Tuesday

  • Yesterday my coworker K got the results and she passed - so she's officially a Licensed Insolvency Trustee :D
For reference, the studying and the exams are comparable to the lawyers bar exams etc. with the intensity and pass/fail rate.

Anyways, my other coworker J got starbucks and I picked up treats from the grocery store :)
I am a child with desserts so I got mini cheesecakes, mini mousse and macarons. There's 4 in the office because we have a summer student scanning items, so we all get one of each lol

J & I put a candle on one and sang "happy trustee license to you" lol
J ordered a mug and we're waiting for our boss N to come back so we can all give it to her.

Still in process of decluttering. M & I were going to wait, but I think we'll do a book drop sooner than later. We have a ton more books to sort beceause we're now pulling them from our basement.
I also discussed with M how much we need to get things built that are sitting around.
Back to domino effect of our house.

I think I may try to convince M over holidays to maybe park my car at my mum's briefly, and drag a bunch of our crap from basement up to the garage and call donation place to do a mass pick up.
That way we can leave in garage for a bit.
  • @Casadena, I'm glad there was room for to attend that group.  Sounds like it was a wonderful experience.

@CharmedPam, I am so sorry to hear about your SIL ((hugs)).  My heart goes out to you and your family.

  • @CharmedPam I am so sorry to hear about your SIL - what an incredibly hard time for your family. I'm glad you can be there with them. Sending you and them all kinds of love and hugs and prayers
  • @CharmedPam I'm so sorry. I'm glad your family is able to come in and be with each other.

My tummy is upset with me.  I had to get Grape Nuts for a recipe.  Judge away, but I love that cereal b/c of how crunchy it stays in milk. However, I rarely eat cereal.  And the bowl I ate was apparently an overdose of fiber because yesterday and today have been unpleasant.

I ran into work for an hour early this morning. There were some things that had come through my email that it was just going to be easier to take care of in person.  My boss was all, WTF are you doing here?!?! and then I started handing him things and he said, "Thank you a lot, and don't do it again".  But, there aren't any other things happening on my load while I'm gone that should happen (and I still think I did them, he just misplaced the items).  And I am only checking my email in the mornings, promise. That way I can just get high or play video games and shirk off any irritations.  Also found another 5 star google review that specifically mentioned me, so that was a nice thing.

Going to get my eyebrows threaded while I wait for WoW to come back up (it goes down for maintanence on Tuesdays).  I also got one of my AF samplers in, so I'll be trying the best reviewed rose I've been able to find as soon as it's cold enough! I'm very hopeful, rose is one of the flavors I miss a lot.
  • @Casadena I'm sad when my kids age out of some phases but there was a breath of fresh air when DH resumed his Wednesday nights out and I didn't feel like it was a test that the kids and I survived.

Tonight I'm meeting the mom who may watch Chiquito while DH and I are at his cousin's wedding.  What we didn't realize is that Chiquito is in summer camp with her son and they get along and play well together.  So....he may actually have a good amount of fun in the process which is what we were hoping for!

I'm going through the fun today or looking at medical bills and have spent a good 30 minutes going back and forth with my insurance and Quest with no real resolution on the bloodwork from my physical i n November which my insurance company claims they never received.  I'm loathe to pay for stuff out of pocket simply because "They have no record getting it"

DH has had the joy of declining the calls from his insurance co for Chiquita's stay.  That bill hasn't been finalized yet and I'm grateful that he's made investments into his HSA knowing that this is going to be expensive and we'll now be those people who likely max out the deductible every year while she has infusions.

  • @banana468, my condolences on the medical bill woes!  With probably more to come when Chiquita's bills start rolling in.

Medical bills have to be the most jankied up and convoluted type of bill that exists.  They are rife with errors and problems and it is like screaming into a blackhole to get them fixed.

I max. out my HSA every year.  It's tax-free money so that's just a slam dunk, even if it is a big chunk out of my paycheck.  I only spend about 20% of that each year.  But you never know when a major medical crisis might happen.  Plus my plan is to retire long before I'm eligible for Medicare.  I'll get an ACA plan at that point, but there's a good chance my OOP medical costs will be higher.

  • @short+sassy I'm more annoyed that it seems like EVERY year I get this bloodwork and EVERY year Quest messes up the billing and this year the bill says "Submitted to Banana's insurance and they have not responded" so I called the insurance company today and they said, "Um....what bill??"

Come on now - it's one thing to dispute the stuff (which I'm fully expecting with Chiquita's) but OPEN YOUR MAIL!

  • I’m so sorry for your loss @CharmedPam. All of the hugs.

I hope G is okay @Casadena. I’m glad you were able to get out and connect.

Exactly!  That kind of abject dysfunction is so annoying to deal with.  And even more so when they never seem to fix the problem.

I got a collection letter in the mail once.  I'd had a procedure at a hospital FOUR years earlier.  In all that time, they never sent me a bill or contacted me about paying for my portion of what my insurance didn't cover.  Apparently, just turned my account over to collections one day.  Fortunately, it hadn't hit my credit report yet.  But that is what the collections agency was threatening to do if I didn't pay it.  It was around $400, so at least not insurmountable.  But still.

  • Thanks all
@VarunaTT enjoy your staycation.  Hope you get nice and high lol
@banana468, you know, the expense and expenses your going to occur didn’t even pass my mind. Ugh! But glad she’s getting the medical attention she needs.  Medical billing is the WORST. I always hear stories of people gaving to submit and resubmit until the billers get it right.

Right!  This is over $600.  And I can make it go away and pay it but I'm not going to when I KNOW this is supposed to be covered.

To add insult to injury in the theme but a different note DH is repeatedly ask to prove to his employer that his biological children are his children.  They're minors, have ALWAYS been on his insurance and were added at birth.  I understand that companies are trying to reduce fraud but DH's children haven't stopped being his biological children and this is data that can be managed in an Excel spreadsheet - yet his failure to prove this can mean they will be removed and we will have to fight for them to be covered.
  • I have had an unusual situation present itself and wanted to get your all's opinions.

I got a PM in my Redditt account from a reporter for the BBC.  I have verified they have a reporter with that name.

She sent me a message due to a post I had about how high the insurance rates are in Louisiana and I'm planning to leave the state over it.  She's writing an article on this subject and asked if I'd be willing to be interviewed.  I am and gave her my e-mail address and phone number.

She e-mailed me and we set up a meeting to talk on the phone.  But, in the e-mail, she said I would need to be willing to give them my full name on the record.

And that is where my quandary is.  This is an important subject that I am passionate about, so I would like to tell my story.  But I'm not sure I'd want my full name used.

I'm not sure if she meant it just needed to be on the record with them...which is fine with me...or if it would be publicized.  I e-mailed her that question and she replied, "Understood. Let's plan to talk on Monday either way."

20 years ago, I wouldn't have thought twice about it.  And I still assume the most likely scenario is this would be some online article somewhere, that a few people might read, but no one is going to track me down over it.  I'm not famous.  Why would strangers want to contact me.  But then, it seems like people sometimes go viral for the most minor stuff and there is no rhyme or reason to it.  I do have a very unusual last name, so I'm easy to find with it.

The more I'm thinking about it, the more I'm thinking "no", if my full name would be made public.  The only "plus" is getting my story out, but there could potentially be some "cons".  Like when I go to sell my personal home or one of my rentals.  The buyer Googles my name, finds this article and thinks I might be a desperate seller.

Am I just being paranoid, lol?  I feel like I am, but then I also don't have much to lose by being cautious.

  • @CharmedPam I'm sorry about your SIL. Hugs to your entire family. @short+sassy, I agree with Banana.

Not much today. I made peach cobbler filling with peaches we bought in SC. I just want to eat it with a spoon now! I'm freezing it to make a cobbler next month when we have guests for the Brickyard Race. My PrimeDay stuff arrived today (well most of it).I got several Christmas presents bought so there is that. My stretch appointment yesterday was rescheduled to Saturday and I had a massage today. Tomorrow my eyebrows get done and Thursday I go to the dentist. LOL H referred to the week as body a fender work.
