Feeling better today and WFH, which always makes me kind of re-align myself. 

There is a festival I loathe that happens in my neighborhood every year.  The festival never really puts out great info about parking or directions and so a lot of people come downtown and aren't familiar with the area.  Between the one way streets and the blocked roads, it's always a disaster.  Also, I just don't think our little downtown can handle the influx of 50K people.  Well this year, they started TODAY!!!  So 2 business days!!  I've dealt with the late Friday/Sat/Sun days for 6 years and just been annoyed, but all day Thurs/Fri/Sat is stupid.

I have a phone call at 9:30 for my cat adoption.  Crossing fingers it goes well.  I'm sure this cat has had a lot of applications, b/c she's beautiful and unusual looking (white with a yellow eye and a blue eye), but she fit my parameters (female, 3-7years old, able to be a single cat, snuggly), so I'm hopeful.

Otherwise, SSDD.

Just by taking 1 anti-flammatory yesterday has helped my shoulder immensely.  Why didn’t I go sooner? This has stopped me from so many things like swimming on vacation! 

Ugh, so much work drama.  People in an office setting, do you have to deal with all the rumors of ___ sleeping with ____ as well? It’s been in every single office setting I ever had so I’ll assume yeah.

G IS FINALLY BACK AT SCHOOL!!!!

He was SO excited. He asked for a haircut last night (his hair was LONG - it grew fast and luscious after he lost it all last summer), had to wear a new shirt, colored all his friends pictures this morning to take with AND wore his superhero cape. N was super excited to have brother coming with to school as well, it was cute. 

H is in another funk and apparently it's my fault. I'm struggling to understand that but also want to be sensitive that he's got some additional stressors going on healthwise that he's working through. It's getting hard though. 

We've been so disjointed with work days/childcare days that i'm looking forward to knowing what day it is most of the time, lol. Have a few things to finish for work and then excited for another weekend.

Ugh, they are still doing construction in our offices and it's so freaking loud in here. Hopefully it will be all done by Monday *fingers crossed* 

N and I went out to dinner last night. When we got engaged, a friend of mine gave us a Visa gift card. Tried to use it to pay and they said no! Truly never heard of that before. Maybe it has to do with fees? But the card had a sizeable amount it so it really sucked that we couldn't put it toward dinner. Next time I'll call ahead! haha.

Yup, and normally IDGAF…. But HR is stepping in and involving our entire office, so….yeah.  Now I care lol.

so glad G is back at school (and Lovng it?).  I used to love the first weeks of school. It got old pretty fast.  Lol. I’m sorry H is in a funk and it’s affecting you

Yup. Two previous jobs there were rumors. One was even about me, back when I was in my early 20s. 
At my last place, there were rumors of a warehouse guy hooking up with a customer service rep. One coworker was found to have started the rumor and she got into a lot of trouble for it.

When rumors like that happen at my job it’s often been because they were actually true @CharmedPam. 

 It reminds me of the Grey’s Anatomy episode where everyone has to sign an HR letter declaring who they were sleeping with and everyone was getting syphilis.

Just had an amazing conversation with a manager who leads a team I work with a lot. He’s awesome and wants me to come join his team. It’s related to a lot of what I’m doing now, but in a better environment.  Not sure what’s going to come of it but could be great!

Yup.  There was one about me years ago which was really annoying.

YAY for G being back at school.  

Back in the heydays of my company,  there were all sorts of rumors and straight-up affairs happening.  People definitely got fired for dipping their wicks in the company ink when it got messy.  Once WAH started happening and especially now that we're mostly remote, it calmed down.  But it definitely provided a lot of fodder for the mill back in the day.  

Pretty much SSDD around here.

All I can think about right now is that Office episode where Meredith was sleeping with the rep for discounts and an Outback gift card and then corporate congratulated her for saving money when HR was flabbergasted. Lol

Good luck on the adoption @VarunaTT. The only downside of a cat is when they’re so snuggly in the morning you don’t want to get out of bed.

I can’t remember any rumors about me but H and I started secretly dating at the place we both worked at. I guess we did hide it well because people were surprised when we announced it. 

I leave for SD tonight. It’s not too bad of a drive, about two hours if traffic cooperates. It’s raining here today which is interesting. It’s twenty degrees cooler here for a second before it becomes over 100 again and I’ll take it.

Ha! I’d find it hilarious if someone from my office thought I was involved with any coworker! Mostly it’s people higher up who can benefit and go up the ladder.  Not me.  A pee-on with no corporate movement.  Plus, I’m not attractive by “sales” standards so that helps keep people at bay

@VarunaTT, I'm glad you are feeling better today and yay WFH.  Crossing my fingers for you on the cat!

My cat fact for the day.  All cats are born with blue eyes, due to a lack of pigment.  Their eyes don't start changing to their adult color until they are about 6-8 weeks old.

@CharmedPam, now I'm trying to think of all the times there have been rumors like that at various office jobs, but it's almost none.  Then again, I also haven't been in jobs where people went to conferences or that kind of thing where hooking up would be easier for those so inclined.

@Casadena, I'm glad G is back in school!  Sounds like both your little guys were over the moon about it.  I hope your H starts getting into a better headspace and the stress lightens up for both of you.

@charlotte989875, oohhh!  I hope that talk turns into a good opportunity for you.

After work today, I am going to Harrahs.  Supposedly, I have a free Alaskan cruise to pick up if I gamble at least 25 points (not much), either today or tomorrow.  I got one e-mail from them about this promotion.  That's it, which is unusual for them.  It almost feels too good to be true but, hey.  They sent me the e-mail last week.

I've been anxiously waiting for this day to arrive, so I can see what the deal is and start planning.  There isn't much time as the trip is only good for this season, which ends on 10/31.  But from what I've read about Alaska, the weather starts getting worse in the late season so I'd like to go in August/early September.  We also need to fly into Seattle and stay for a couple nights, but prices are going up and I'm losing availability with each passing day for earlier dates.

I hope I can make something work!  I've never been to Alaska, but have always wanted to go.

Really happy for G (and you!) that he's back, and I love that he wore his cape.  I'm sure you've felt overwhelmed and stressed this last year and a half (or so?) as well so I'm sorry H (who of course can have issues and feel stressed) is taking his out on you @Casadena
@CharmedPam There's the occasional rumor at my school but it's super rare.  In my early-to-mid-20s when I was in home health care (and as a result, spent a bit of time each week in an office setting) there were rumors a lot more often.  I was annoyingly part of one- an male coworker (a good 15 years older, though we were in the same role) was actually having an affair with a nurse, and his wife (also a nurse but in another department, extremely well-liked)  knew it was happening but wasn't sure who it was with.  She and her large posse had it narrowed down to three suspects, and I was somehow one of them.  It was annoying.

Made it to NH safely.  There's dependable wifi now, woo.  After the 5.5 hour drive, a hike (just a 2000-footer at least) and a grocery store run, I'm now lazing on the couch and ignoring my kids' pleas to go swimming lol.

I've just been locked out of my work computer for over 2 hours.  Argh!!!!

I spent one hour on the phone with the Help Desk.  I finally begged them to put in a help desk ticket on my behalf, which then gives the local IT employees...one of whom has his office within sight of my cube...the okay to help me.

It was SO tempting to just go over and bug him.  But he seemed pretty busy with someone else's mess and we have been warned repeatedly that we need to contact the help desk first and get a ticket.

He was able to get me back on about an hour after that.  At least that gave me an excuse to futz around on my phone, lol.  Not like I could do any work.
