Wedding Woes

Friday

Not a very good "almost" start to the weekend.  I walked into a shit show at work.

All those IT issues I had yesterday might have just been a harbinger of what was to come.  EVERYBODY, including me again, was locked out of the system today.  I can at least get into my "local" computer system.  Just not our network/database drives.  Which is basically where all the work is.

I rarely pick up mystery shopping type gig jobs anymore, but I have one this afternoon.  It's actually not a MS shop, per se.  It's an audit and I announce myself when I get there.  Picking up prescriptions after that.

I did get my Alaska cruise certificate at Harrahs yesterday.  When I get back home from my audit, I need to call the number and find out what cruises are available so I can start figuring out prices for the other stuff plane/Seattle hotel.

Re: Friday

  • I'm so excited for you about the cruise - i've always wanted to do one to Alaska!!

Work is slow today. I haven a few things to plug away on but no real motivation. I'm in the office for a meet and greet with the top candidate for my old job, otherwise i'd probably be cleaning my house all day.

We somehow lost G's sneakers - so i need to find him some new ones. His current wouldn't have lasted much longer, but so weird that we cant find them. He requested red sneakers this time, and of course N immediately yelled "I want wed sneaters too, mama". So N might get some new ones too :)

No big plans for the weekend so far. Hoping H will take the boys to his parents house to play for a few hours one day so i can have a little time alone. Probably doing some decluttering and cleanout of closets and stuff, maybe the zoo (we're members, super easy to go on a moment's notice!) if we're feeling up for it.
  • Also, has anyone done laser hair removal? I'm interested for bikini area and underarms, just curious about personal experience and upkeep.
  • We did an Alaskan cruise in Sep 2019.  It was really good.  Let me know if you need some info on anything.

  • @Casadena, I do and loooooooove it. I did laser hair removal like 15 years ago and it didn’t work for me (it was the face), but technology has changed and it’s been working wonders. I would recommend milan if you have one in your area.  It’s pricey but they have a payment plan, a guarantee AND “for life” services so you can always go back for that same area
ugh to the work crap @short+sassy.  I hate when our systems go down.  My friend and I booked Alaska for next year.  She’s going with her diamond painting group so I latched on.  That, and the seattle trip is going to probably be my most costly trip.  And I’ve done Europe before lol! But worth it for me since it’s bucket list.  My friend and I wanted to go in September (because of the probability of seeing the Northern lights) but her group wanted Summer because of passing the glaciers.  It’s all what you’re looking for.  Lights or glaciers.  Can’t I get both?

ugh, already had to make a Home Depot trip early this morning since I had ants in my garbage can.  Had to get bait until my pest control comes out.  I have a dozen calls to make today regarding PT and pest control so I’m glad it’s wfh.

  • thanks @CharmedPam there are a couple that would be close enough to me! thanks for the recommendation! I'm getting so sick of irritation and bumps and shaving so often.

They of course don't have pricing listed on their site but seem to be running good specials right now. Any chance you remember a ball park number (dont' feel like you have to share if your not comfortable, or PM if that's more appropriate!)
  • Ooh Alaskan cruise! I've always wanted to do that. My brother's friend and his wife went this year and they absolutely loved it.

So happy it's Friday. Not much planned for the weekend and I'm excited about that.

I feel like you can?  But maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, lol.

Okay, I looked it up.  Sounds like some of the ice will already be melted by September, so the craggy land coming up from the sea is not all white.  But this is also the best time to see "calving", which is when the big chunks of ice will fall off and into the water.

I think it's only Princess and Norwegian cruise lines that are allowed to go through Glacier Bay.  Which I've heard is one of the best things to see in Alaska.  But there are other glaciers that most/all the cruise lines visit.  Fortunately, Harrah's cruise hook-up is always with Norwegian anyway.

From what I've read, June/July is the best time to go because that is when the weather is the most mild and there's less rain.

Which is probably why Harrah's is giving away free cruises for the latter and cheaper part of the season, lol.  I am not complaining though!

Yeah, it's probably going to be at least $1200 just for the flights and hotel room in Seattle.  Plus you know there's always money to be paid for the cruise, it's only the "room" that's free.

It is a big savings!  But I always joke that "free" is a strong word when it comes to cruises, lol.

I’m sure  you can get best of both worlds, depending on what line.  Also, Alaska season is very short, hence why it’s more expensive.  They send out ships to the bahamas and carribean year round, so those prices are always more appealing going South. We’re doing Royal, so i get to try another line. Yay!

They have a 60% off promo now.  I did brazilian though and I wanna say $1,500 to $2,000 maybe? So if you do bikini area I would estimate much lower for that. I packaged it with another area.  Keep in mind, this is lifetime treatment too. An area of my chin is SUPER stubborn so I can keep going back and back and back till it’s gone and I love that!

Awesome, thank you! That's about what i expected so good to know i'm not too off.
  • I'm not a cruise person, but I do have an Alaskan and Mediterranean cruise on my list of vacation dreams.

This week has kicked my ass. I've worked some really long days.

DH is going on his annual guy's trip this weekend.  He getting his stuff pulled together right now to head out.  BIL is going to his parent's house, so it's just DefConn and me.  We're meeting my friend for dinner tonight and might go pick up the 'family' post-hole digger from my sister's tomorrow so DH can finally install our new mailbox (it was my dad's, he gave it to DH, but of course we share that stuff as needed, LOL).  Your 40's, where you're excited to have a mailbox that doesn't leak and make your mail all wet if it rains.  Hee.

Other than that, finding the motivation to get stuff done around the house and grocery shopping.  Woohoo.
  • (((Hugs to you and mom this weekend))) @VarunaTT.  glad the turtle was a win!

  • @CharmedPam @casadena what a timely conversation. I was laying in bed thinking about laser hair removal last night.

I’m SD and I’m meeting a friend right now for lunch. It feels a bit like meeting one of you guys! We’ve never met in person. We always talked on the phone for years at my old job but were never in an office together. I’m excited!

H comes down tomorrow via the train. I told him I wasn’t paying $40-65/ night for two cars and he was gonna have to suck it up and take the train lol. It’s only an extra 45-50 minutes for him though. This weekend is shaping up nicely!
