Tuesday disguised as a Monday

Hope everyone had a great long weekend!
I did absolutely nothing this weekend.  Didn’t super love that because I do like to be out and about.  I had pdo threadlifts done Saturday morning to my cheeks. Google it.  It’s as painful as you’d think it would be. TBH my face is still tender, bruised and hurts! So I cancelled a date I thought I could go on for Saturday night and we’re still talking but nothing has been rescheduled.  I usually walk out of medspas unscathed but this one threw me off guard. I felt like someone punched me in the face all day Saturday and most of Sunday.  I SAY I’m never getting them done again, but that’s probably a lie, I’ll forget this pain when it’s time to do them again.
Other than that, SSDD. One more day of super hot weather and then hopefully not as unbearable.

Re: Tuesday disguised as a Monday

  • I need a vacation. Weekend was good, but it was too short. Saturday was a little cooler, barely over 80 and not humid, so the whole city was outside. We hung out at a local brewery and then got dinner. Sunday was back hot again, so we went to my friend's pool party. Yesterday was mostly chores.

Nothing much else interesting with me. H and I are seriously talking about hiking the Inca trail next year, so I'm starting to look into planning that trip while I zone out in meetings.
  • My kids returned to school today which is good, it’s nice to all be on the same schedule/routine (the district I work in returns earlier due to a difference in student population, they require more religious holidays during the year than my home district).  Hot as hell, all this week, but I know everyone is in the same boat.
Tuesdays were never an awful day for me but I’ll be joining the Tuesday Haters Club for the time being as it’s by far the busiest day of the week as far as after school activities.
  • Had such a nice weekend. Did some shopping, cleaned up around the house. Cooked dinner, baked, floated in the pool. Exactly what I needed after our busy vacation.
It is oppressively hot today. So ready for the cooler weather.
  • Back from 2 week vaca - BK started school and I realized how desparately stressed out I am with this job lately.

I'm honestly not sure what I'll do. It's not "quit my job" bad but if I start getting yelled at from clients again, I'm going to push back about switching to a new position.

Anyways, did a lot of nothing.
We went to museum and did back to school shopping.

BK is back at school today
  • I'm hitting a wall this afternoon.  Ugh.

Weekend was OK.  We were camping at the farm.  Friday and Saturday, the weather was perfect.  Sunday it started getting more uncomfortable.  Yesterday, packing up was bordering on unbearable. I lived my best hippie life this weekend by not showering the whole time.  We were outside and getting hot, sweaty, and dirty all weekend.  I took quite a few dips in the pond.  LOL

We had a great time seeing all the family that was able to come into town.  FIL had his friends and brothers around, so he was actually pretty chill for once in his life.  Me, DH, BILs, SILs, and all our kids got some legit hanging out time together.

Today is back to the grind.  Looking forward to cooler temps (just ran to the store and it was ridiculous out there) and football, but it's a little bittersweet that summer is drawing to a close.  It all feels like it's 'downhill' from here to the end of the year.
  • I really needed that extra day off!  It felt so refreshing.

I watched a few episodes of The Food that Built America yesterday.  It's such an interesting documentary series.  I watched the "first" series a couple years ago, but didn't realize until this weekend that they had put out more episodes.

My new knowledge is that Krispy Kreme was the first doughnut company.  Older than Dunkin' Doughnuts.  I never heard of KK until about 20 years ago when the first one in the NOLA area opened.  Which was also weird they came so late to NOLA, because apparently they are a "Southern staple" and were started in Winston-Salem, NC.

My rabbit hole.  I always assumed they were a newcomer to the doughnut industry because they didn't exist in CA when I was growing up.  The first CA one (Los Angeles) didn't open until 1999.  Even to this day, there's only one KK location in Orange County.  I feel better now that it makes perfect sense I wasn't familiar with them, lol.

KK were my mother's favorite doughnut. We didn't have DD in North Carolina because KK ruled the market. I think of her everytime I see a KK store. One just opened near us in Indianapolis - I have stayed away so far!

Had a good weekend with nothing much going on here. H replaced the screens on our screened porch so then I cleaned everything out there. It is very shaded in our backyard so I have been able to read out there even when it has been so hot! I'm headed to Virginia Beach this weekend for  a sorority reunion. It looks like the weather will be good.
  • @ILoveBeachMusic, we didn't have many Dunkin' Doughnuts either where I grew up, but I was familiar with the company.  According to that documentary, on average, there is one DD every 5 blocks in NYC.  They were founded in Mass. and have always been more of an East coast brand.  When my H and I were vacationing in Boston, there were two DD's within a short walk from our AirBnB, lol.

  • Dunkin' (DD, or Dunkin Donuts) stops are pretty standard around here in NE.  The Providence Friars play at the Dunkin Donuts center and the minor league Hartford Yard Goats play in Dunkin park.  There's a Dunkin mascot at the games!

My old boss would say that anywhere in RI was "down the street from the Dunkin Donuts".   At this point, most people I know aren't necessarily going there for the donuts but head in for their coffee.   I live in a smaller town and we have  2 - used to have 3!   I'm camping w/ Chiquita this weekend and guarantee that one mom not sleeping overnight is going to be on the "Dunkin run" for the needed mother fuel.
  • I associate DD to the NE as well.  I loathe it.  The coffee, in my eyes is colored water.  The donuts are awful since they bragged about removing msg (put it back in if that’s what made it taste so good!!)

i’m a starbucks fan if we’re doing chain favorites.  Ex H knows this.  He very generously gave me a $50 DD gift card for my birthday a few weeks ago and was like “happy birthday, enjoy your coffee.  Besides, it’s better than Starbucks”.  Uuuuuh that’s a matter of opinion. Still very nice of him, I’ll probably buy my nephews some donuts with it next time I see them.
