Wedding Woes

Thursday

Prudie day already!

Re: Thursday

  • @climbingsingle, I told my therapist recently that it feels like I'm having an existential crisis every other week.  She said, "that's your 40's."  LOL(sob)

My IUD swap went OK. Having DH there was definitely necessary.  I was having flashbacks to the unmedicated birth I went through with DefConn because my epidural was tanking my blood pressure and had to be turned off. I was definitely woozy after.  Now I just feel crampy and gross and ugh. But it's done.

I'm kind of glad it's a grey day. Perfect for naps and watching whatever I want on TV.

    Prudie coming up.

    Well fuck. Ha.

@CharmedPam I'll def check out that site.
  • @Casadena, that's adorable your sons are practicing with stuffed animals!

I am so mad this morning!  I had two leftover slices of pizza that I brought to work on Tuesday, but then didn't feel hungry for on that day.  So I was planning to switch up the mushroom omelet I brought and have the pizza for breakfast and the omelet for lunch.  But someone stole my pizza out of the work fridge!!!!  It was even in a crisper drawer that only I seem to use.

What kind of lowdown POS person does that.  When I told a couple of my coworkers, they told me there has been a lot of food/drink theft going around in the office.  Including out of people's cubes and desks.

I've had a couple other issues myself where it seemed like one of my energy drinks was taken out of the fridge and some of my mini candy bars were missing out of my desk drawer.  I chalked it up to maybe I wasn't remembering correctly what I had.  But I did start hiding my bag of candy after that.  And stopped keeping my energy drinks in the main fridge.  But it's PATHETIC I have to do that.

I realize such minor petty theft is hardly the crime of the century.  But it makes me lose my faith in humanity, especially since it's someone(s) we know that is stealing from us.

  • Went and got a second opinion from a different fertility doctor that was pretty reassuring. She doesn’t think my clinic did anything wrong or that there are any signs of big problems, I just fell into the 26% of women with my number of frozen eggs who don’t get a baby. Now I need to decide if I switch to her practice. Pros: I really liked her, she talked a lot about studies and statistics in a way my current practice hadn’t, and I think she’s the right fit in that she’s not pushing interventions with no evidentiary basis but she is very on top of emerging research. Cons- so inconvenient. The old clinic was a 10 minute drive or sometimes a 35 minute drive. New clinic is either 10 minute walk, 20 minutes public transit which is fine, but at least half the time is more like 20 minutes walking 30 minutes public transit with a transfer and especially for early morning weekend visits transit is not great. Plus it’s just so much headache to transfer over. Idk I have until November really to decide.
  • @short+sassy I had a chronic food stealer at a previous job. Things were constantly going missing from the fridge. Turns out it was the HR manager! I honestly forget what happened to her (this was maybe 2005?). Crazy. I don't understand why people do that. But also, I'd be scared to eat something a random coworker possibly made in their own home. See also why I hate work potlucks.
  • @short+sassy that is super annoying! I can’t even imagine looking into my company fridge and be like “hmmm I didn’t bring this pizza in. I think I’ll eat it anyway”.
@STARMOON44, a second opinion was a good idea.  I would go with your gut feeling.  It sounds like a switch would be annoying but maybe worth it?

  • @Casadena that sounds so cute
    @short+sassy ugh I’d be livid!
@CharmedPam glad the full credit was applied
    @mrsconn23 glad youre feeling okay

Slept like crap last night and tired. Day three of a period headache and we’re still in a heatwave.  Aka perfect mode for my cousin’s Thursday night wedding tonight. Lol…I’ll rally and enjoy it. Thankfully laid out mine and the kids’ clothes and shoes this morning, so we’ll be ready to roll.
  • @ei34 a Thursday night wedding 3 days after a holiday? Not to be too judgey, but yikes that sounds incredibly inconvenient. Hope you all have a good time, though!
  • @CharmedPam, my flight back from my cruise (Seattle to NOLA) is an overnight.  But at least it is overnight on the airplane, not in the airport.  It was also non-stop and the cheapest option, which is why I chose it over other options.  Though if I can get a cheap enough airport hotel room, I'm going to do that also.  I assume we'll be off the ship before noon.  But our flight doesn't leave until 11pm.  We arrive back in NOLA at 6am, lol.  The flight itself is less than 5 hours, but the 2-hour time change is against us going East.

I WISH JFK had private sleeping pods after having to unexpectedly spend the night there before my European cruise last year.

  • I'm feeling very midlife crisisy today. It could be because my 43rd birthday is at the end of the month. Or because I have no vacations/trips planned. But man, I just want to sell everything and go live on an island.

    Girl, same!

That's all I've got today. It's hot and I'm braindead.

  • @CharmedPam I live fairly close to Toronto, so I've never had to sleep over and all my guests have been able to sleep at my place or with others.  So unfortunately I have 0 experience with the sleep pods.  I actually tend to avoid Toronto altogether.  Not that it is a bad city, I just hate the traffic.  I would rather fly out of Hamilton or Buffalo than Toronto.  My cousin from the Netherlands is coming to visit and I'll probably have to deal with the traffic to drop her off, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there!  I don't know why it stresses me out so much.

My mom has lived in Southern CA for over 65 years.  She has always refused to drive in Los Angeles, especially LAX.

There have been a couple times I've flown into LAX, due to cost.  Her response is always that I need to find my own way to Orange County, lol.  Which is fine, because I know that is the deal.

  • Fun night @Casadena.  The reason why I don’t join book club is because it takes longer than a month for me to remember I have a book I’m reading and finish it!
@climbingsingle I can’t help you with getting a year older but I can direct you to tripmasters.com lol

i paid for the rest of my cruise yesterday.  I had a weird call with them when I asked about my $100 credit, gave them my fcc voucher # for it, and he said that voucher had a credit amount for the entire cruise and how much would I like to apply?
ummmm what? I just want my $100 credit! Not a free cruise.  I’m sure if he tried to apply that credit amount, then he’d realize the error.
Then today I booked my flight from Canada back home.  I got a great deal for business class I couldn’t believe! I quickly booked it.  Oh wait.  Thanks military time, I didn’t realize it was a layover overnight. @kerbohl or @MissKittyDanger, any idea how “sleep friendly” Toronto’s airport is? Web says they have sleep pods….what are those? Because of change fees, it’s going to cost a lot more to change it.  I feel like they should erase fees once you immediately realize you booked an overnight and change it within 24 hours!

update; phew! You can’t make changes but you can cancel a “non refundable” ticket still within 24 hours. So I cancelled and rebooked a same day flight.
Back in the day, there were direct flights from Winnipeg to Chicago.  Then covid hit. And now you have to spend more $ - and spend all day traveling.
I'm in Ottawa {4hrs from Toronto} but if you google any airport they can say how sleep friendly they are :)
