Wedding Woes

Monday

Decent weekend overall. What was everyone up to?

Re: Monday

  • It’s Bills Day!! So excited for football season again.

Weekend was pretty good. Got our new furniture delivered, M and I went to the zoo and to swim lessons and played outside a lot! And it’s finally starting to feel like fall!

  • I'm really enjoying the weather.  It's still too hot and the a/c needs to blow 24/7.  But it's so much more comfortable than it was a couple weeks ago.

I went through some of my shoes this weekend.  Threw away 9 pairs (sniff, sniff), but it was good progress.  One pair had been good, dependable soldiers for over a decade.  I wore them all the time.  But alas, they had become too worn and their time had come.

Why do I even have so many shoes, lol!  I only wear the same 6 pairs or so.

I need to rant for a sec about my weight and food frustrations.  As I've mentioned before, I'm on a somewhat strict diet to ooomph my weight loss, along with a drug that helps.  But it's so frustrating that if I'm not "perfect", I will totally gain 1-2 lbs. overnight.  Not so much with calories, but with "types" of food.  Specifically foods that are high in carbs, like bread and rice.

Like yesterday.  I was feeling hungrier than usual.  I ate two pieces of toast around mid-day.  My blood sugar was running too low most of the day, so I had 12 ounces of juice at two different times.  I also had a tiny portion of Pop Corners.  That's not all I ate.  But those were the "bad" things I ate.  I usually only eat 1100-1400 calories/day.  Yesterday was more like 1700 calories/day, which is still fairly moderate.

Aaaaannnddd...I was 2 lbs. heavier this morning than I was yesterday morning.  Not the first time I've had something like that happen.  I try to look at the big picture.  Because overall, I'm doing great and have had good progress.  But I just don't get these big overnight swings.  Because what?  I "cheated" on my diet with toast and juice (eyeroll).  It's just really demoralizing when I have been working so hard.

For the positive side, I can eat tons of protein and lose weight.  Even higher fat protein, like bacon and steak.  Nothing like eating a hearty breakfast of eggs with cheese and 3 slices of bacon and then lose a half pound the next day!

I've always known I respond better to protein than carbs.  But paying a lot of attention over the last few months to what I eat and how it affects my weight has been really shocking at the extreme differences.

I saw a commercial yesterday when I was watching the Saints game and thought of you.

It was a series of commercials displaying people who have moved, but are still loyal to their team.

In one of them, a guy was walking down a sunny beach and everything he was wearing and carrying was Buffalo Bills themed.

My favorite from the series was where they said something like, "Because it's hard for dolphins to live in the desert."  You see a vehicle driving through a desolate desert scene.  In the next scene, a guy in Dolphins attire is going to his mailbox and says hi to his neighbor wearing a Cardinals shirt.

  • I have bronchitis.
So spent last few days coughing - including my bday. *sigh*

BK had a good first week.
Over holidays my mum and I gave BK a deal because she wanted to get something from build-a-bear and they are NOT cheap.
My mum said if BK can sort her stuffies, and "give some to other kids" {aka donation} then she'll get her 1 new stuffie.

Guess who was able to donate ELEVEN stuffies!

I didn't push. If she seemed hesitant on a stuffie, I told her don't give it away. Keep it if you're not sure.
    I think only 2 she wasn't sure.

Next up her toys. She whines about wanting new toys for her sets, but she has sooooo many. *sigh*
Maybe when our living room is painted and new tv set up is done it won't seem as bad lol

Complete side note, I'm kinda job hunting.
Not heavily, but I'm looking at the schools. My only thing if I got a new job would be summers off - that's only reason I'd leave this job.

Yes I loved the fall weather!
Friday was an awkward but not awful date.  No vibes from either of us, so no contact after it.  But I’m glad I went to see what he was all about.
Saturday was the musical Ring of Fire and dinner. Such an excellent musical if you ever get a chance to see it.  I know @ILoveBeachMusic gets the same tour of plays/musicals I do, so you probably will!
Sunday was a war reenactment during the morning and a much better date with another guy after that.
I’m getting smarter in my old age.  Saw an ad for Fragrant Jewels and it’s a coffin candle, with ring that once burned turns into a ring box.  Sweeet.  I want that for the ring box only! Those rings that come with it are cheap and turn my finger green. I was about to buy it anyway.  Then I thought, this coffin ring box is exactly like something an etsy seller would have.  And there was! For 1/2 the price.  I’ll just go to Michaels and glue a decorative bat or rose on it.  Old Pam would have just bought the candle for the box.  New Pam? No she’s getting savvier.

  • Yeah @short+sassy, the fluctuation sucks.  My weight fluctuates anywhere from 2-7 pounds overnight and I’m not even kidding.  I have to stop weighing daily.  It’s my downfall. Just remember to look at that big picture like you said!
@MissKittyDanger sorry about the bronchitis.  Hopefully it goes away quickly.  What build a bear did she get or will get? I agree, those things are overpriced for what they are!

  • @CharmedPam the cough is a nightmare, so idk.
She's seen a few so I'm not sure which. She likes the idea of clothes for them lol
  • I didn't do much this weekend.  Saturday is my usual just lay about day, but Sunday my period hit and hit hard.  I was sick all morning and ended up sleeping most of the day.  The cramps and sickness were finished around 830 at night, but that was not fun at all.

Otherwise, SSDD.  I'm trying to get used to boss's working habits, but they are difficult for me.  He is very stream of consciousness and it's really messing about with my "I have to do work on this matter even if it's not the matter that is directly in your mind right now" and now he's not even remembering to tell me to do things and then asking why they aren't finished.  So far, he's been good natured at my...boundaries? I guess, when I'm like, here's what i'm doing, do you agree I need to do it? and you didn't tell me about this, but I can do it right now, but this is kind of exhausting.  Put on top of, "I know how to do this thing already and what you're telling me to do is wrong, but whatever" and I'm struggling.  Still, 900000% times better than what I was at and minimally difficult, so I'm okay.  But I do just want to go home and snuggle with my cat right now.
  • Ugh, it was a tough Sunday to be a Giants fan.

It pretty much poured all weekend. Had a tiny little window on Saturday where I was at least able to get the front lawn mowed. Did a lot of stuff around the house, and that's basically it. Had a house full of teens too so that was fun

Good afternoon.  We actually had a pretty glorious weekend.

Friday, I met up with my friend L for lunch, shopping, and pedis.  I bought her lunch and pedi to congratulate her on passing her NCLEX. I found my sister's bday present and some super cute trouser style jeans. DefConn got his stitches out in the afternoon.  It was a little rough for him, but he's a champ.  DH and I had a pretty chill night at home and went to bed kind of early.

Saturday, I had a shit ton of running around to do.  DH installed an R/O system under our sink in the kitchen.  We went to the rescue and sanctuary farm down the street to buy some mums and do u-pick flowers and see the piggies (the donkey also made his presence known, lol). DH's cousin came with her doggos to spend the night on her way back to NC.

Sunday, I was up early to do some work and then make all.the.food for football kick off.  Dad, his gf, FIL, the kiddo, kiddo's gf, and M+L were here at some point or another.  The Colts lost, but I am KILLING it in both my fantasy leagues.  There were some wild games in week 1, so here's to what's hopefully an interesting season.

We just booked our fall break trip to TX.  We're going to visit my grandpa and our friends.  And we're working on getting our Puerto Rico vacation booked for January.  Yay points.  LOL

SSDD otherwise.  It's Monday.  ((disappointed Price is Right music))

Did the Giants have a game last night?  I WISH SOMEONE TOLD THEM!!

Weekend was pretty busy.  Friday I brought supplies to the camp event for Girl Scouts and Saturday Chiquita and I went down - she had to wait 2 days after starting antibiotics but she had a great time.  Sunday we headed to church and DH and I went to Costco together leaving the kids home alone so he could help me pick out new glasses without the kids afoot.

FYI - for all you wine lovers Costco has the beer and wine Advent calendars.  Get them know because they'll likely sell out by October!

We started to post a ton on Buy Nothing.  I desperately need to get the little kid stuff out of the house so we're getting rid of wooden puzzles, toy shelves and anything we can just boot.

Then we put the kids to bed and sat down to watch the Giants score...nothing.  They scored nothing.
  • It will never not feel weird being at work/having a normal day on 9/11.  I got spoiled, the last two elevenths had been Sat and Sun, so we could all attend memorial masses, grieve, etc.  My school had four moments of silence, there aren't extracurriculars by me for today, but still, weird.  I know life has to go on of course, but just a weird day to go about business as usual.  The Jets did offer a lot of FDNY tickets to tonight's game, my dad declined due to his hip replacement recovery, but still a nice gesture.  I don't know.  I'm in a weird mood.

My weekend however was really good.  Stbxh did take the kids for his full time (Sat at 10 to Sun at 4), which is by far the longest break I've had in about a year.  I knocked my school work out of the way first, then my living room project (new bookcase) and I'm in love with how it turned out.  I got a lot out courtesy of my local buy nothing group too @banana468 .Mass, some errands, some cooking and baking...it was a good weekend.  Just waiting for the fall weather to hit us, the temps are okay but the humidity is beyond.

  • Thanks @banana468, that’s a perfect Christmas gift for mom & dad. I’ll pick some up soon. I saw them while I was there but wasn’t thinking of it as a gift.
I love football food @mrsconn23, just not football. I need friends like you to invite me over to eat.  I’ll be quiet.  I’m a good houseguest.

We turned the game off at halftime.  I hadn't even checked the score until now.

    40-0...shit.  That's painful AF.

OH and I'm in a pick 'em league and I'm sucking wind.  I picked the Giants to win, so I deserve to be the biggest loser.  LOL

Same, I also didn't even check the score until this morning. Brutal.
  • I went to bed in the 3rd qtr.  I don't do fantasy football but enjoy watching it and....that was terrible.

Griping also about insurance companies.  I took tomorrow off for Chiquita's infusion tomorrow and have been on the phone with the hospital saying that they missed that the insurance co only approved the first 3 which was her induction.  I'm annoyed and we need that approval by 11!    My alternative is to sign that I'll pay for it out of pocket and I'm really reluctant to do that for something so expensive.
  • I went to a baby shower on the weekend for a friend.  Sunday I got a migraine and laid around all day.  I still feel a little wiped from it today, but it is much better.  Now though, because I didn't do enough on the weekend this week is going to have a lot going on.
