Wedding Woes

Tired Monday

Woke up to my alarm for the first time in…maybe eight years? Since there was a newborn in the house. I was awake from 1-4 and am feeling it.

Spoke too soon on friday about the rain/flooding not hitting us. I’d made it home from work fine but enough major roads were flooded that my kids’ bus took an hour to get home (usually takes 10 minutes). And spent most of Saturday helping my dad with their basement. But the sun is shining today.

Wishing everyone a good week!

Re: Tired Monday

  • I had an okay weekend.  I ended up not doing a darn thing.  Saturday I was just bustling around my space, cleaning, doing laundry, reading, etc.  It was so nice, I ended up canceling my movie ticket.  Then, I apparently made a mistake, b/c I've been working training Harley again.  I used the freeze dried chicken treats that she'll do just about anything for and I used a minimal amount (maybe 4 small pieces, it's barely 1/8 of a tsp worth).  They apparently no longer agree with her tummy, b/c Sunday was spent cleaning a blowout.  I once again affirmed my no-kids was a good policy idea, b/c I almost threw up on her head while having to clean her.  Washed her litter box and entirely replaced the litter.  It was obvious she didn't feel good either; she napped most of the day.  So, those treats are now gone, as that was the 2nd time there was a direct link between upset tummy, blowouts, and those treats.  Actually, maybe the 3rd now that I think about it.

Going to see The Neverending Story on the big screen tonight!  I'm excited and also dreading it.  I'm either going to have to walk out during the Artax death scene or there's going to be sobbing.  This movie definitely has some childhood traumatic firsts in it.
  • The rain on Friday was crazy. They thankfully closed our building down at 11am, but it still took me almost 2 hours to get home.

Rest of the weekend was good. Went to a winery on Saturday with friends and did stuff around the house yesterday.
  • I too am tired.  I didn’t get home till 9 last night after a 5 hr drive home.  Ick.
all in all, a good weekend though.  My nephews loved my Halloween crafts I brought.  The middle one loved them more than the others.  It’s actually just sticking halloween stickers on items but he’s entertained for hours with it.  And he sings Nightmare before Christmas’ “this is Halloween” as he does it.  So cute!
Before I drove home, we all went to a pumpkin patch.  My brother gave the 6 year old the map to see if he could navigate the corn maze we went through.
spoiler alert, he’s wise beyond his years, but not yet ready to navigate a maze map.  After about 1/2 hour we ended up at the entrance again but that was all we needed.  The adults were done and the youngest was crabby anyway.
I have a real low key week coming up.  Looking forward to that.

Sorry you got all that rain @ei34.  Is everything back to normal now?
I don’t do well with that either @varunaTT.  I have confirmed my “ok with no kids” lifestyle numerous times in my adulthood.

  • Poor Harley and you @VarunaTT.  That sounds awful.  I would have prob spewed on her head, LOL.

The weekend was pretty good.  Friday was pretty chill.  Saturday was running around a lot and a stop at medcheck because DefConn had a weird rash on his face.  It's all good and we've got the right antibiotic cream to heal it right up. It's a common thing if you wrestle.  We did pick up some antibacterial body wash for him to hopefully help curb other stuff.

Yesterday was hanging out and watching football as usual.

I'm happy the writer's strike is over and it is a good contract.   I was missing Last Week Tonight with John Oliver more than I realized.  I was so happy to have it to watch this morning.
  • @ei34 it was SO wet here.  The kids went to camp with DH on Saturday and I picked up Chiquita Saturday night while they slept.  It was actually really nice by the end of the day but just just...wet!

Sunday the local fields were so waterlogged that both kids had their soccer games canceled.  Instead of having to go to a really late mass we were able to go to 11 and be home early afternoon.  I picked up mums and kale for the front porch and grocery shopped with Chiquita.

DH and I stopped by his parents' new house and they have a big piece of furniture that they can't use so we'll likely take it and it will be a storage area for kids stuff in our play room.  We know that they're trying to get settled and when they make offers like this they want answers fast.  It's not exactly what I'd buy but I also question how long we'll need to have a place for toy storage so we can work with it for now.
  • Weekend was pretty good.

Thursday G's appt was good and no med changes this month! Took the boys for donuts and to the children's museum on Navy pier - it was fantastic and we'll definitely go there again over the winter. Gyn called and apparently there is nothing wrong with me with that area, and she recommended a pill and pelvic floor therapy. We'll see.

Friday was my company golf tournament which was a blast, then we booked it right into the city to meet up with my best friend from college and his partner for dinner. We had way too many drinks and laughed so much. It was amazing.

Saturday sports class - IL's came to watch and then we all went out for breakfast. Family (aka mom and dad hangover recovery) nap time courtesy of Despicable Me on TV in our room :) Yesterday I did a lot of prep in the kitchen while the boys built forts and jumped off furniture with H, then N and I ran some errands and the boys went to bed early!

Finally ordered a bunch of options for family pictures in a couple week. Hoping to get the boys fresh haircuts before then too.
  • Catching up on everything but i'm glad the rain out east has calmed down and everyone is safe/homes are relatively unscathed!

@VarunaTT hopefully you can figure out Harley's tummy stuff - no fun for either of you!
  • @VarunaTT, I hope that solves Harley's tummy issues and you can find other treats she like as much.  In the first year we had our dog Izzy, she was throwing up a few times a week.  She'd look a bit green around the gills for 15 minutes, throw up, and was fine again.  It was Fall.  We finally figured out the issue.  She was eating nuts off the ground that were falling off our neighbor's tree.  Oh Izzy, smh.

Weekend was great and relaxing.  We had a marathon grocery shopping day on Sunday.  It was the first time we stocked back up after our trip.  The cupboards were very bare.  Sunday night, I hung out with my friend down the street.  She works in the tv/film industry.  She mentioned in passing something about going back to a previous show she worked on, in November.

I didn't realize the writer's strike was over until @mrsconn23 had mentioned it.  I was going to ask her about the strikes situation, but we started talking about something else and didn't get back to it.   I Google'd it and the actor's strike isn't over yet.  Maybe the studio she works for expects it to be resolved by then, so they are tentatively gearing people to come back to set.  Crossing fingers!

Don't get me wrong.  I'm the most sad for people like my friend who have been out of work a long time.  But I'm also selfishly a bit sad for myself because where are the new episodes of my Fall shows?
