Wedding Woes

Wednesday

WFH today and have a chiropractor appointment at lunch today that i'm very excited about. Still no period but another negative pregnancy test this morning so who knows.

Re: Wednesday

  • @Casadena, my mom was in a car accident 40+ years ago.  At the time, it didn't seem like she was injured.  But she's been plagued with back and neck problems ever since.  Seeing a chiropractor has helped her so much with that over the years.  I hope you have similar positive results...but without needing the longevity!

Interestingly enough, that car accident is one of my first memories.  Both myself and my sister where in the car also.  I was 4 years old and my sister was a baby.  Fortunately, we weren't injured at all.  That was also the good ole' days (late '70s) when only babies were put in car seats, if that.  I was in a booster seat with just a normal lap seat belt around me, lol. FWIW, the seat belt held me just fine.  But it also wasn't a high speed accident.

Work has been extra stressful for the last two weeks.  But it's because I'm learning something new and taking over a major job duty from the engineer (N) I primarily support.  Doing a lot of stumbling while I figure things out, lol.  And it's taking me 1-2 hours to do things that will take less than 20 minutes once I have the process down pat and understand everything.  It's annoying right now.  But I'm glad to have the additional responsibilities because, the more I have on my plate, the more valuable I am.  And the more valuable I am...especially to the client and N is a client employee...the more likely it is they will let me WFH f/t, once I move ;).

  • My sleep is all kinds of off! Ugh. My parents arrive tomorrow for a charity function but I don’t know how long they’re staying. Tonight is home to clean for them and get things ready.
i’m so exited my favorite murder mystery and make up influencer Bailey Sarian has a good sale on her sus-pish merch and I got a cool hoodie for $25. I wanted the matching joggers but, as always, I’m too tall for them :(
Oh speaking of that, Good American dropped some of their jean prices and I really wanted to try a pair of the stretchy new fabric they have out but they ALSO have inseams too short for me.  The “longs” are all waitlisted. Khole Kardashian should help a sister out, being 5’10 herself. She of all designers should relate!

  • My sleep is not great this week.  I determined that I need to cut back and drink less but also not so close to bedtime.  I had the right plan and was on the course for a great night of sleep until yesterday and Chiquita was hit with a soccer ball in the wrist at a pretty high velocity.  She likely sprained her wrist to I ran to Walgreens before dinner, she iced it and I sent her to bed with Tylenol and a new brace.

At 2:30 poor kiddo was up and crying in pain so I gave her another Tylenol and an ice pack and propped her up to sleep on Squishmallows.  Poor kid was on the field crying and the team rallied around her.  I'm hopeful she can have some use of the arm tomorrow.

  • Sending restful vibes to all struggling sleep right now. @Casadena hope your chiropractor appt goes well too

Trying to shake a headache- it started last week with my period and just hasn’t gone away. At least it’s coming and going at this point, and not present all day. Wednesdays are blissfully less busy than Tuesdays after work into the evening, and I realized this morning that I have abnormally more food (leftovers for actual meals, not just random food) than usual in the fridge, so dinner for tonight through Friday is taken care of, woo
  • I think my body is actively trying to fight something off.  I got a massive headache yeseterday around 2, then suddenly had a scratchy throat and felt flushed.  I went home a bit early and ended up sleeping from about 6pm to 6 am this morning and could've slept more.  I do feel better thought, so not sure what's happening.  There is a nasty stomach bug that's been going around, but my tummy was fine.  Poor Harley was beside herself with boredom. I would've felt guilty, but I was asleep.

    Otherwise, SSDD.
  • Hope Chiquita's arm is better today, @banana468 .

I've been on a reading binge lately. I'm almost finished with my second book in 3 days. I might not get it finished today because I do have things to do. I have a stretch therapy appointment today that rescheduled from when I was sick last week. I also need to pack to go to DD's tomorrow. The weather is colder so now I have to pack the bulky stuff which I hate. I also have mushrooms caramelizing on the stove. I like to keep some to put in omelets, in sauces or on pizzas.
  • @banana468, I hope Chiquita's wrist feels better soon.  Between her new health condition, friend troubles, and now this...Chiquita is way overdue for some good luck and positive things to head her way.

@ILoveBeachMusic, you have reminded me I need to get back on my mushroom game.  I love cooked mushrooms.  They are healthy and they add a lot of flavor to dishes for almost no calories.  But I often forget to put them on my list.

Yeah I like to get the boxes of white mushrooms, slice them then caramelize them. I have a gizmo from Pampered chef that makes slicing large quantities of mushrooms so easy. It was worth buying it just for that! I love to do a potato bar and have mushrooms on that!

H and I just went to our Total Wine and bought the Sassenach Scotch. We have watched the Men in Kilts seasons 1 and 2 which just made me want to drink scotch. It is very good (I haven't traditionally been a scotch drinker more towards bourbon). We also bought their gin but haven't tried it yet. Sam Heughan could probably sell me anything lol! I'm a sucker for an Irish or Scottish accent.

I read Clanlands which I think is about the show, but I haven't seen the show yet.  I really want to, it seems really good.  I am also intrigued by the Sassenach Scotch!

We love the shows. The first season is in Scotland the second in New Zealand where Graham McTavish lives. The banter between them is hilarious! You need to watch them!

Mushrooms as part of a potato bar sounds amazing.  I've only seen potato bars at wedding cocktail hours, my family and I always enjoy them and wonder why we don't do them for parties at home lol.
Every weekend I roast mushrooms as part of the veggie taco bowls I eat for lunch.  A bit of olive oil, some onion, thyme, salt and pepper...they're one of my favorite parts of the bowls  :p
  • I went through a mushroom phase when i was pregnant and loved them with savory oatmeal, a little bit of good cheese and a crispy fried egg. That's one of the meals i still make regularly! Mushroom taco bowl and on potatoes sound great too!
  • I make an easy and yummy appetizer with white mushrooms.  I remove the stems and put them in one pile on the plate because I don't want them to go to waste.

Then fill the insides of the mushroom with shredded cheese and a cilantro lime sauce I get from Costco.  The same one they use in their deli taco kits.  But any sauce that goes good with mushrooms and cheese would work.  Then I put the cheese and sauce over the stem pile also, lol.  Heat it up in the microwave for about 1 minute.  I'm sure it would be better to broil them in the oven because the microwave doesn't get them as cooked as I would prefer.  But the microwave being so fast and convenient makes up for the slight difference in taste, to me.

I also love putting sliced mushrooms in scrambled eggs.
