Prudie Day

How's everyone?

Sort of just going through motions over here.  Willing the weekend to be here, but I'll take a Thursday.

Re: Prudie Day

  • Had my first chiropractic adjustment yesterday with the clinic. I really like her and her approach and felt grreat all afternoon but got really sore overnight. I ahve a few more appts coming up so i'm excited to hopefully get my back and neck feeling that good all the time.

I was WFH yesterday but don't usually WFH til Thursday or Friday so i'm really thrown off. Have a small thing to finish for work and then hoping to take a leisurely lunch and read my book. I checked out a bunch of mystery/thrillers last week and am already on the second one. Loving chilly rainy reading weather!
  • Today’s not going so well.  My stylist curled my hair with a flat iron last time I was there and it looked really cute.  Today, I attempted it. Nope.  Can’t do it.  It was kinky not curly.  So when I went to just iron it all out - ended up a frizzy mess.  Yay.  But I have to learn this before the 25th because I want that style for my Halloween costume.
then my inserts kept slipping out of my shoe.  My foot hurts so bad! I put them in a boot which is good.  I have an event tonight, and I’m going to have to wear a skirt, sequined top and a bootie because I need the elevation.  Not gonna look right but it is what it is.  I actually want to cancel because I don’t feel like doing all that extra walking.  The pain just sucks! But we paid for the tickets already and my parents drive in for it AND I’m the one with the e-ticket.
oh and I didn’t have time to make my caffine drink this morning because of my hair and shoe fiasco so, I may have to drive to Starbucks at some point today.
@casadena I know that pain after the day all too well. I’m surprised it hit that night though, usually shows up in the morning!

  • Today has been really rough.  I have been gaining weight this week, despite eating perfectly, so I have no idea why.  I was already in a bad mood from gaining yet another 0.2 lbs from yesterday to today.

And then it gets worse.  I WFH yesterday and I ALWAYS leave my computer bag in front of my door.  So I don't forget it.  Because I will if I don't do that.  I pull into my parking spot at work and realize I don't have my laptop with me.  Argh!

I drive all the way back home.  Mad at myself for forgetting to put my laptop bag in front of the door.  I walk through the door and panic for 30 seconds because it's not in the living room either, which is the only place it would be.  Then I notice it to the side of the door, amongst other things that are black so it blended right in.  100% my H's fault.  I guess he went out front at some point last night.  Moved my bag to the side and didn't put it back.

I'm trying not to be super pissed at him, but I am.  I know it was a minor mistake in the grand scheme of things.  But it was a minor mistake that totally fucked up my already shitty morning.  I was 45 minutes late getting to work and had to drive through rush hour traffic TWICE.

Work is especially busy and stressful right now, so I'm already chalking today up as a loss and just trying to get through it.

  • The office move has shifted into high gear as we're supposed to start on the 27th.  I'll probably be working from home for a lot of that week.  Just like any staff, we have some major negative nellys and I just want to be like, Look, we're moving, period.  So, quit the complaining and figure out how to help rather or at least not hinder and STFU.  But all of this complaining nonsense is getting old.  There are a lot of people who have been here decades and they are so spoilt about some things and it is annoying.

I've got to go to Lane Bryant tonight and return the clothes that are the wrong size, then do my re-order.  Otherwise, nothing much else is going on.  I'm supposed to go out of town the last weekend to see WU-TANG AND I'M SO EXCITED, but the people I'm going with are not planners and I'm trying not to freak out.
  • Good morning.  DH comes home today.  He's been in the Boston area all week.  He went to Salem yesterday after work.  It is so cool.  He said he definitely wants to go back for us to visit sometime.

My team outing yesterday was super successful.  Everyone had a great time and really appreciated getting together. The only thing is that I had a raging headache most of the day.  I had to take ibuprofen and lay down when I got home.  Ugh.  We had dinner with our friends M+L last night and it was a really nice visit.

My day exploded this morning.  Several issues popped up and I was going in a million directions up until this point.

    Looking at Prudie now.  :)
  • Work today and I’m already over it. Work pulled some more retaliation bullshit and it’s upsetting but also I hope they like it when I immediately leave after my two year contract is up and they have to spend an extra $70k replacing me because they decided to play games. The admin here is just something else. It’s not just me although it does feel like they are disproportionately picking on me (I mean, they literally are as far as other coworkers in my actual position). I was talking to my coworker yesterday and she said she just shuts up and takes the abuse because every time we try to say something, they retaliate and make our life worse. They also demoted someone in another department after she came in and tried to make positive changes, so it’s not just me, but it is really fucked up. And I have no interest in staying long term in a toxic environment. I really miss my old job and my old manager. The old upper leadership was a mess but they’re all gone now. But I realized yesterday the scale was starting to tip from “I just don’t like working in general” to “I don’t like it here.” I was trying to give this place time to see if the chaos was just because some people retired and things were settling, or if it’s just chaotic in general. And nope, just chaos. I also think it’s telling that the person who worked here before me “went on leave” when I started to “take care of a family member.” She was supposed to come back. Find out a few weeks ago that she’s actually working at a new branch now that’s farther away from her home. Hmm, so interesting. I wonder why.

Otherwise more chaos in my life. H is really struggling. He hasn’t been able to work in person all week because he’s been too anxious. I bit the bullet and found a therapist for myself and did the intake Tuesday and have my first appointment in two weeks because while I’m not actively depressed, there’s just a lot on my plate and I don’t want to start lashing out or act/become resentful. Not great that it’s expensive cash pay and we’re looking at going down to one income, but it is what it is. I have other doctor’s appointments on Monday. And SIL and I talked and while we’re talking again I will never get an apology. She literally told me “I’m not sorry and I think I should get the apology from H for slowing down our first hike.” I’m in a weird space of trying to decide where I want the relationship to go in the future or if I just want to pull back overall. It’s hard when it’s family and we do have fun together for the most part, and at family functions it’s just a built in friend. But damn I do feel disrespected and I told her that.

One more day until the weekend. I’m pretty excited that I’m two weeks I have a three day work week and then a one day work week because I requested some time off.

I’d be upset too @short+sassy. Don’t throw off my routine.

  • @short+sassy very annoying! I too would have to leave something at my door to remember.  Or I’ll set an alarm on my phone the time I leave(ish) and the alarm name is something like “TAKE ____ TO WORK” and hopefully I didn’t leave early! Lol
@VarunaTT, Torrid is the exact same way! Exchanges with only with a return and reorder… but apparently no straight up returns on online items? I wanted a smaller size in my costume but they had sold out so I didn’t bother.
@mrsconn23, Salem is my JAM! I’m glad he liked it. It’s not as busy during the workweek day but that’s changing as people are taking time off work now to do day activities there.  My last year was 2019 and the crowds were ok. Large but manageable. I hear it’s outrageous now.  Hence my December trip there now.

  • Work has been so busy! Today is a bit back to normal so finally able to pop in and see what’s going on.

I need a maternity winter coat, but they’re SO EXPENSIVE! I’ve gotten a ton of maternity clothes on Poshmark but can’t find any coats that aren’t either aril really expensive or I can’t judge the quality. Ugh. It’s fine right now but my coat will definitely not fit this year and I’ll need something through January at the very least.
  • @charlotte, my SIL was in the same boat and ended up going to walmart and getting a simple mens puffer jacket a few sizes too big and wore that all winter!

How long are you outside daily?  That 3rd trimester is when you have a furnace attached to you but I know you're not in a warm area.  Could you get by with a wool cape that's more drapey and could transition into the early spring (with a bonus if it fits over a nursing baby in a carrier?
  • @levioosa, I'm sorry you are so unhappy in your current position!  I remember you feeling pretty miserable in the last job also.

If I'm remembering correctly, you graduated from your masters program while you were in your last job.  So your current position was a move up into what you went to school for?  Hopefully now that you have experience in this "new" role, you can easily find your dream job with a better medical center when your two-year contract is up. I also hope your H can find a new job quickly and it's a better fit for him.  I know his job is taken a major toll on his mental health, which has taken its toll on you also.

@mrsconn23, my H and I have only been there once, but we loved Boston!  I like historic towns because the architecture is so interesting.  There is a lot to do and the food was great.  We also went to Salem for the day during that trip and it was a neat town to visit.  The local shops go touristy overboard with witch stuff, lol.  But it's fun.  It is also where the "House of the Seven Gables" from Nathanial Hawthorne's book is located.  That house tour is definitely a "must".  It was built in 1668 and there just aren't that many places in North America you can see a building that old!

We’re out a fair amount. M loves the snow and I’ll be going into the office at least into December (and our parking ramp is close but too far not to wear a coat).

It’s hard because I doubt I’ll be going out a ton once the baby is here so it feels like a lot to spend for just a few
    months.

That's the sort of thing for which I hit up eBay. I get it - it's necessary but you feel like cost per wear is gonna be high.

Are there local consignment places or Buy Nothing groups that may have them too?   If you're going to be out and in the snow then yeah you want something.

Exactly! I’ll check out eBay. Poshmark has failed me so far!
  • For those of you interested in NA beers, I just found a website that will send you singles!!!  I'm really happy and about to put in a big order b/c a lot of these are ones I wanted to try, but was having to piecemeal out b/c I had to buy variety packs or 6 packs, which can get pricey for just trying!

    www.proofnomore.com

    I'm not a vendor!!!
  • OMG, I forgot to tell y'all...I want to burn Ticketmaster to the ground.  I participated in a pre-sale yesterday and I've never tried so hard to give a company money and been so pissed off by doing it.  Tyler Childers' presale was yesterday and I got a code for it.  I got tickets eventually, but not the ones, and not as many as I wanted.  I also drained the shit out of my phone battery while trying to buy them.

I am super stoked. DH and I were both so excited when his tour was announced.  He's one of our absolute favorite artists and we've been following him for years.  I'm so glad he's getting more mainstream attention.
