Ok so we got engaged this past July we are planning our engagement party for Oct....do you guys think its too far off from when we actually got engaged or is it ok....we aren't getting married 'till Oct 2010....I dont know but for some reason i am thinking the e-party should be right after the engagement..TIA

    I don't think it matters. I think the etiquette rules is you are supposed to have it within 3 months of the engagement, but who really does things the norm these days? We never had one but I think having yours a year in advance is still awesome and great! Your friends and family I am sure would love to get together and celebrate the upcoming wedding.

    We got engaged August 08 and had our e party in April 09. So only 3 months is fine to me!!

    We got engaged in January '09, and my FILs are thowing us an e-party for August and we will be getting married in Nov.  I know that it is late, but my FILs really wanted to do this for us, so, who am I to say no!  ;)
