Swapping small stone for larger

Does anyone know if it’s possible to swap a 0.25 carat stone for a larger one, 0.75-1 carat? I love my ring, it’s beautiful and dainty but unfortunately I am not 😅 and after two children my fingers have increased in size and it just doesn’t look right. For sustainability and budget reasons I’ll probably go for a lab diamond or possibly moissanite, but I was wondering whether it will mean a whole new ring/ring redesign or if they might be able to somehow get the new stone into my existing setting. Thanks!

  • I'm guessing it would depend on the type of setting you have. If it is a solitaire setting it should be easier. However, if it a tension setting or channel setting it would be difficult. Take it to your reputable jeweler and ask their advice.

This!!!  After kids my ring size went from a 8.5 to 10.5/11 and was too big of a jump for the style of ring to be resized without losing the structural integrity...  What I ended up doing was purchasing a "Bling ring" with a gold band and CZ stones (bigger than the original, because why not, but still a size that looked proportional to my hand) so I never have to worry about losing the stones or my finger turning green..  Sure, I could go real if I REALLY wanted to, but my original wedding ring is who I was the day we got married, and the chances of getting back to that hand size are pretty minimal at best...
