Happy Halloween!

Any Halloween plans tonight?

Alas, none for myself.  Hopefully no kids come because we didn't buy any candy, lol.  But we almost never have kids come to our house.

An article that is cute pics of dogs in costumes, to get into the spirit.

Re: Happy Halloween!

  • I love dogs in costumes!
We’ll trick or treat around 4 or so, that’s when it kicks off over here. My parents sent me a lot of nice pics of my kids enjoying their school Halloween event earlier today (that’s the pitfall of teaching, I’m dressed up for other people’s kids and miss out on seeing my own in action).
@climbingsingle how’s the new job going?
  • We hardly ever have trick or treaters but H did buy a small bag of candy - not the stuff I like though. It is cold here today but at least is sunny. We are having vegetable beef soup for dinner tonight so it is good weather for that.
  • Happy Halloween!
We don't get any TorT kiddos either.  But, we did buy candy just in case.  And by "just in case" I mean, just in case we want to eat it lol. If DH is up for it, we may drive by some decorated homes tonight.

There is some work drama in my team.  A co-worker seems to be targeted by the sup & manager and has been asked to find another position.  I have no idea why as this person adds much to our team but can be somewhat abrasive at times.  Seems like there is always a scapegoat.  Someone was "forced" to find another position last year.  Makes you wonder who will be the target next.  I think I'm pretty safe, until I'm not.

Trying to make some plans for DH's birthday (70!) at the end of Nov.  He doesn't want to have a party but I know our families are going to want to celebrate.  Maybe something low key like having people drop in on a Saturday or something.  I did order a flock of flamingos to be delivered to our yard on his big day as the youth at our church are doing a flamingo fundraiser.  Should be fun.

It was surreal walking to my car this morning.  It was still fairly dark and chilly!  Apparently winter has started, lol.

Just last week it was warm and sunny in the mornings.

I'm confused about this every year as it starts to get dark in the morning, during the Fall.  Why do people lose their sense of light vs. dark for a couple weeks?  Two cars on my way to work did not have their headlights on.  This happens every year.  I assume most people drive at night and dusk all year long.  They seem to figure out their lights should be on for those times of day.

  • My entire body is SO.MAD. at me.  But I think I'm finally moved into my office, for now at least.  I get my actual desk in a few months, so I'm just holding onto some things to see if they will fit in here when new desk comes in.  There are definitely some not-so-great things about the new digs, but the best thing is that 2 of the personalities that I found difficult to deal with are on a whole 'nother floor and the 3rd one is leaving in 13 days!!!

It's also very cold here right now.  I'm going to sleep hard tonight.
  • Happy Halloween!!

Our TX trip was great!  We had a decent mix of rain and sun.  It was humid AF.  Grandpa is doing great and loved the company.  I also got to spend some quality time with my aunt, mom's older sister, and uncle.  DH and my uncle about had a secret handshake by the end of our visit with them.  DH had a blast playing tourist in San Antonio...He'd only been once before for a brief weekend trip for my grandparent's 50th anniversary.

I *loved* Austin.   So many awesome places and things to do.  The food....O.M.G. We did not have a bad meal at all.  I want to go back so bad. We didn't even scratch the surface.  Our friends were amazing hosts.

Back to the grind now.  Work is...blerg.  SSDD mostly.

Why do I not know how to end a meeting?  LOL  I'm always awkward at the end of team meetings.  Goal for 2024?  Ha.

  • Did you know that when you're 12 your candy bucket needs to coordinate with your costume?

I think I've used the F word about 5 times to my daughter this afternoon telling about the level of effort I intend to make on the vessel that will be used to hold the candy.

And she's dressing as a BLOW UP DINOSAUR!
