Prudie Thursday

It's been so quiet around here lately! Hope everyone is doing well. I can post prudie shortly if @mrsconn23 is busy.

I know!  I don't know why it has been so quiet in WW.

One of the new medications I started taking a few months ago has given me a stronger sense of smell.  It's not a listed symptom, but I've heard a few people talking about it on forums and that is definitely one of the effects on me.

But it is not doing me any favors today!  There is a wild fire that has been raging for about a month way out in east NOLA.  It's 15 miles away from my work, but sometimes we can smell it here and it's especially bad today.

They are doing major renovations on the other side of my floor.  Fortunately, I can't smell it from my cube.  But it was so many strong chemical smells when I went to the restroom.  Then someone in the restroom was wearing a strong perfume.  I can't catch a break, lol!  I'm starting to feel nauseous and a headache is forming. Which is not helped by the Navy jets from a nearby base being extra active today, lol.

    -----------------------

I had such a freak out moment earlier today!  The person who used to be my main boss (J) called me via Teams.  I rarely need to talk to him.  I get on the call, only to realize that my current boss (T) is on the call also!  Me thinking, "F**k!  What is happening?  Am I getting fired?  Are they mad at me about something?"

No need to panic.  Phew!  Turns out, another employee named Jennifer is leaving soon and J thought it was me.  T quickly corrected him but, while we were all on the phone, we talked about my plans to leave in spring 2024.

T is probably tired of it, lol.  But every time someone asks me about when I'm leaving, I ALWAYS throw in a "reminder" that, I don't want to leave the company.  That I would love the opportunity to WFH 100% when I move.  Hint, hint...hint, hint, hint.  They stayed very vague (understandable) and said it wasn't off the table and who knows what will happen a year from now (I reminded them it's more like 6 months).

I know I can't count on it.  But it would make my life and the move exponentially easier if I could keep my job.  Mainly because I probably wouldn't qualify to keep my current house and buy another one, without having this income.

Edited to add:  I forgot!  I'm off work tomorrow for a doctor's appointment.  While that isn't for something "fun", at least today is my Friday.  And I'm looking forward to the appointment because I think there is going to be a big improvement to my blood work stats.  I can't wait!  I've been working so hard to improve my health.

  • Glad today is your Friday @short+sassy and how annoying about the sensitive sense of smell especially with fire nearby

We jumped from the 40s into the 30s, like yes November we know you’re here.  Not complaining, I love brisk air, just took an extra minute to dig out our “medium” coats.
Work is going smoothly and after work is fairly light so I’m just grooving along.
  • I'm waiting for the movers to be able to get my desk swapped, so I feel like I can start doing some real work.  I'm also taking tomorrow off.  I have a cherished friend who moved to another city.  She has been really struggling lately and last night I told her she could either come visit me or I could come visit her, but that she needed to have a friend around for a bit.  She agreed and she is coming this weekend.  But, I need to clean my apartment at least a little bit before she gets here.  She's only requested one activity, which will be easy to do, but I'm now trying to figure out what to feed her while she's here as well.

Otherwise, nothing much else going on.  Just still trying to figure out new office stuffs and get my head right.

I'm here.  I'm going to try to post it soon. :)

Nevermind, I see @Casadena is on it.  ;) This week has been jam-packed for me and I'm off tomorrow.  So I barely had time to catch up from vacay all week.
  • Event went well in Baltimore and ended early so now I can take an earlier flight joke! And make it in time for dinner/ bed.
  • It has just been my day of panic, lol.

My former boss J, same one in my first post, asked me to come see him in his office.  TWICE in one day!  It's DOOM this time, I know it.  DOOM.

But on my way there, I remembered my work anniversary is this month.  Maybe it's a raise?  Gleefully rubbing my hands together in my mind.

That's exactly what it was!  Yay!  About a 7.5% raise.  We also had a great chit-chat where he thanked me for my work, my flexibility, and everything I do for the client.  We also had a casual conversation that I'm no longer moving to FL and am thinking about Cincinnati.  Talked about why and then a mutual conversation about the pros/cons of other areas.  I rarely talk to him and even more rarely have a friendly "catching up on life" conversation.  So that was nice also.

  • Oh wow @short+sassy, both those things are awesome! Congrats!
i never heard of heightened smell as a side effect.  I’m not too sure mine has changed… thankfully.
Medium coats @ei34! Ha! I know exactly what you mean. We’re there too.  Bfw eddie bauer tall coats - still don’t cover my long arms! I broke down and had to buy from long tall sally.  So double the price! But at least it looks like I can buy a coat that fits me.

I suspect what I call my "heavy" winter coats would be medium coats for you all, lol.

Lol…yes our medium coats are for around the mid-20s to the mid-40s.  (We have good Lands End coats that are good for -10 to 20 above.)
@CharmedPam glad you found a good one!
