Wedding Woes

Finally Friday!

I missed you all this week! Work has been wild- we had an offsite the last two days that we’re draining. I’m WFH today and taking it pretty easy.

I’m really ready for vacation and resting.

Re: Finally Friday!

  • I was off yesterday and got a taste of vacation - today is hard to get started! I have a few things to finish up before i'm off all next week. Today is also my last day in this office! My team moves to our new building the Monday after Thanksgiving. There's so much stuff left behind, i hate that so much will go in the trash. Like, i really want a couple pictures that are on the walls, but not sure who to even ask if it belongs to the building or something. Also all the executives moved already, but no one packed up their kitchen and there are entire cabinets full of nespresso pods - i want them! lol.

Getting myself moving asap so i can go home early is the plan, so we'll see how it goes. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

  • Work today. I am covering in another department and unfortunately that means I have to stay late because that department starts later than my usual day. Boo. But otherwise SSDD for the most part. We are supposed to see my grandparents and parents this weekend. I need to call grandma this morning and iron out some details. I’m happy to see them though. It’s supposed to rain on Saturday and I am excited about more fall weather (ish). It’s been 80+ degrees still and I hate it. Lol. It’s almost thanksgiving. Give it up and let me wear long sleeves and boots!

I messed up my shoulder somehow (it’s generally a mess but this is new, hooray). I have an issue with joint laxity and I sublux and dislocate the shoulder constantly, but yesterday it started hurting over the AC joint and I can actually fit my finger into the space which is no bueno and not normal for me (usually it’s just the glenohumeral joint that’s a wreck). I’m resting it and I hope it resolves spontaneously. I have no idea what I did. Nothing really was out of my norm in my workouts and there wasn’t a moment during my last upper body work out that I felt a moment of injury. My body is such a wreck. It’s really frustrating sometimes.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

If there is someone coordinating the move.  Or someone who takes on "office manager" type duties.  I'd ask that person about taking the art and pods.  If they don't know, they might know the right person to ask.

Do the executives have any assistants?  If so, I'd ask that person if you can snag the pods.  Or whomever in your office orders office supplies like that.

Or if those pods still haven't been packed when you leave, I'd just take them because they will almost definitely get thrown away.  Or a random person with the building's management will take them.

I have a bunch of fun stuff going on this weekend.  A Friendsgiving and movie night on Saturday.

And on Sunday, I'm turning the big 5-0.  Oof!  How did that happen?  I am way too young to be 50, lol.  We are going out for brunch to a fancy place I've been wanting to try.  And I have a bottle of French champagne cooling in my fridge to celebrate the occasion.

Ouch @levioosa, that doesn’t sound good at all!

Hopefully everyone has a good low key day.  Our office is closed all of next week, I thought I’d be in Monday at the very least, but my boss just told everyone to wfh.  Ok! Cool.  I moved my lip pen treatment up to Monday then since it takes 8 days for them to go back to normal. I should be good by next Monday then.
Mom and Dad just left, they put up a new mirror in my bathroom and it looks so great! Plus they took my Canada clothing suitcase with them, so when I travel next month, I only have the cruise to worry about.  It’s hard to pack for 85 degrees one week and 20 the next (IF I’m lucky at 20)!

good idea about building services (coordinating the move) i'll find someone shortly. the pictures are large and kind of cartoon-ish depictions of farm equipment (our company manufactures fertilizer). I think my boys would LOVE them in their bedrooms but i'm not going to just start taking stuff off the wall, lol.

All the assistants are off today (or at least not online) so full disclosure, i've swiped a few nespresso sleeves each time i've walked that way this morning. I feel about 4% bad about it.
  • I'm so glad it's Friday.  I do need to work Monday and then I have the rest of the week off.  I have some fresh items and charcuterie stuff to purchase and then we'll be ready for Thanksgiving.

DH got home last night.  We stayed up way too late watching TNF and then bcbc time.  We were both very tiiiirrreddd this morning.

Looking forward to a low-key weekend.  DH is taking our boat to store it at a friend's house who has a temp-controlled garage/barn.  I'm so glad it will be out of our drive for the winter and also in a covered location.

Dad and his gf are coming for dinner on Sunday.  I'm contemplating lasagna.  I may even make 2 since they take so long to make and then I'll be ready for Christmas dinner (everyone wants to do Italian to change things up).

I need to start planning out my weekends, especially since I need to do a bunch of holiday baking, we have the kiddo's bday, and family events.  Plus we have a few dinners out with friends planned between now and the end of the year.

I still can't believe Thanksgiving is already here.  It's been such an odd year.

    Anyway...SSDD otherwise.  :)

  • oh! I actually ordered our holiday cards early this year and picked them up already. I love making/sending/getting them and these might be my fave ever! I also really love fancy handwriting so i'm going to get a new fancy pen/marker and drink wine/address cards this weekend after kiddos go to bed :)

  • I'm sooooooo ready for this weekend.  Going to a dinner and a concert with a friend tonight, eyebrows threaded tomorrow, and then just hopefully downtime.  My allergies are knocking me around (mold must be high) and it's horrible.  My ears and eyeballs just ache.

Oof, @levioosa, I hope you can get some relief!

Oh!  I was thinking the artwork might have belonged to the building.  But that has to be art that belongs to your company, considering it's related to what you all do.

But I hear you!  I'd feel weird also about carrying a big piece of art down to my car that everyone knows came off the office wall, lol.

With any luck, you can ask someone on Monday about the artwork and it won't be too late to get back in the building, if it's okay for you to go back and take it.

My floor does engineering for a copper/gold mine in Indonesia.  We have quite a few pieces of cool, local art from that region on the wall and on book shelves.  We also have tons of photographs on the walls of the work site.

They're really interesting to look at!  Giant pieces of machinery in mining tunnels that are many stories high.  But definitely not pretty pictures, lol.

We have a lot like that too!! We went through a major expansion about 5 years ago and there a ton of really cool pictures of our facilities lit up at night that obviously no one woudl hang in their homes, lol, but there are signs on a lot of those in certain departments that they're free to take! I might swipe a couple for the super nice frames and matting.

    Happy happy birthday @short+sassy!
    Oof feel better @levioosa
Thank you for the card reminder @Casadena I’ve had my Christmas card in my cart on Shutterfly for a bit but just checked and there’s a 50% through Sunday, buying them now!

My favorite kind of Friday planned, pizza and movie with the kids.  Tomorrow is some errands, Disney on Ice and swim team, and Sunday just mass and getting started on Thanksgiving prep.

I would have zero guilt about taking nespresso pods from the break room if for the most part it was otherwise emptied out. I had the opposite problem with my old office with the painting though. The doctor who used to be in it left a painting behind. The artwork is hideous and I hated it. But I didn’t want to throw it away and no one could give me a straight answer on if he still might want it so I awkwardly shoved it into my little office closet. Then I had to look at it every day when I hung up my purse. Lol.

ETA: I just checked my old office (it’s still empty). The painting is still there. It’s about to be someone else’s problem soon lol

  • Happy Birthday @short+sassy

I have been doing Christmas decorating but need to work on cards instead. Thanks for the reminder @ei34! I haven't even designed it yet.  I'm exhausted from decorating. I clean before I put stuff out and only do the bedrooms and the basement until after Thanksgiving. I have a smallish Christmas Village and bought some cords on Amazon Prime day that can light up to six houses on one string - genius! It is so much easier to turn on the house lights when only two switches are needed!

I went to Market District to get some cheeses, olives and charcuterie for Thanksgiving. I also got a yummy looking loaf of Tuscan bread to have with dinner tonight. This weekend is more decorating/cleaning.
