Wedding Woes

Lonely Thursday

Hi all!  I have not been as chatty lately, more lurking.  I do often think of you and how wonderful you are, and just wanted to say that I am also very thankful for this wonderful community.  Even if I'm Canadian and this isn't my Thanksgiving.
@MissKittyDanger Sorry to hear the job doesn't sound too good.  The overtime I would nope out of.  For the weekends .... if I could get one weekday a week off in exchange for working one of the weekend days, I am SO there.  I miss working weekends at my work.  But I think my company has a different vibe for them - weekends are great for getting caught up and not being pulled in too many directions.

Re: Lonely Thursday

  • I’m here. Shopping away.  Someone stop me!
glad to see you @kerbohl, even if you are lurking.  And I agree, the weekends would be a nope for me after having so many years with them off.
I got my vaccine shot yesterday and I’m really surprised at how I feel today.  My arm hurts, that’s expected, but I’m not as groggy or lethargic like the other times. So that’s good! I didn’t even feel any of it.  I said “wow, it’s over? That was… I didn’t even feel it!”.  She laughed.  So the shots are improving as time goes on I think.

  • Well, sadly, I’m here. I tested positive for Covid yesterday so not Turkey Trot or Thanksgiving dinners for me. I’m doing more shopping than I should while trying not to feel too sad about it all.

I’m thankful for all of you!! Hope you’re all doing whatever makes you happy today!

I’m so sorry to hear that @charlotte989875.  Is it mild? Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery! Getting any deals in? The best one I found was shapellx. They have an 80% off deal plus, I was able to use a15% code ontop of that AND shopping on rakuten gave me an extra 12% back.  I used them for suits and shapewear and the quality is good - it just runs small for both. I needed dresses for my cruise so I’m hoping the clothing size measurements are accurate, it’s final sale!

Thanks! I’m feeling it today but doesn’t seem to be getting worse.

I got a really great deal on running clothes I love (Tracksmith for any running friends) and they rarely do sales so really happy about that. Got 30% off a train table for M for Christmas and about to buy some stuff at Ulta. Unfortunately the perfume I love isn’t on sale and no free gift but I’m out and I love it so I’ll probably grin and bear paying full price.
  • @charlotte989875 Oh no, that's horrible!  Sorry you got sick.  But hopefully you get lots of leftovers so you don't miss out too much.
I also did some shopping yesterday - The "worst" of the Christmas shopping is done now.  Now I just have to buy about 20 chocolate letters from Giant Tiger and I'm all set.

  • Ugh I’m so sorry @charlotte989875. COVID needs to give you a break. Isn’t this the fourth time you’ve had it? I hope you’re feeling okay and I’m wishing you a speedy recovery!

Thanksgiving was a whirlwind. H and I got into a little spat because I made most of the side dishes and he forgot one of the main ones at home so we had to go back. But we got to the in-laws and it overall went well. I do have to say it is so blatantly obvious that H’s mom is really declining mentally, and it was equally hard to see the siblings (not H) just deny it. At one point she was staring at the gravy on the stove saying she needed to make gravy. And when me and SIL B pointed out the gravy she couldn’t understand it and got even more confused. The cooking was obviously really overwhelming for her. I think we’re going to pivot our argument on catering the next event from “saving MIL the stress and effort” (which clearing isn’t convincing them) to “allowing us all to spend more quality time together” which is probably a more persuasive argument. But overall things went well. We’ve had leftovers all day long in between our couch potato breaks. We did a nice walk at one point but other than that we’ve been relaxing and enjoying the day.

Hiking tomorrow and enjoying the rest of our weekend. We’re behind the times but we started watching The Gilded Age and it’s pretty good.

@CharmedPam I probably should have asked you before I purchased it (because you try all of the cool things lol) but I bought a NuFace today. Have you tried it before? I’m also thinking of trying the Opus Plasma treatment.

I think I may have a nuface type of device, but to be honest I always buy those things and never use them so I couldn’t tell ya! Lol.  I have to spend thousands and have a professional do them.  I had opus done under my eyes and absolutely LOVED the results.  But the lady used a real high setting and burnt some areas on my last treatment.  Once they healed I was like “hell yeah, that was worth the first degree burns!” Lol.  I should book another! I did six of them last year.

I started gilded age and like it.  I should get back to that too.
