Early Friday Rave

I'm up and at 'em early since I'm taking off at 11am for my management team's holiday lunch and then DH and I are going to go Christmas shopping for the kids. 

My RAVE: Bralettes from Maurice's.  I was in there the other day looking for something to wear for the family pics we're doing after Christmas with everyone in town.   They had bralettes on sale for $10 and the salesperson was going on about how much she loves them.  She's young, tall, and thin...I'm short, stocky, and have DD boobs that have seen some things.  But for $10, I was like, "Why not?"  O.M.G.  They are so comfy and supportive.  My boobs don't look all weird, saggy, or smashed down.  IDK what kind of magic is in this spandex, but I'm sold.   I'm going to buy, like, at least 3 more.  At the regular price, they're still under $20.  Anyway, I cannot recommend them enough.  Thank you, you're welcome.  LOL

The rest of the weekend will be football, wrapping, and getting ready for my SIL and nieces to come in late next week.

@mrsconn23, as I was reading your rave post before I got to the middle, I was thinking, "That's a good deal, but my boobs are too big for some dainty, little bralette, lol."  I might give them a shot!

I went to my real estate group's Christmas party last night.  We won two door prizes again (they give out a lot), but really minor stuff.  A real estate investing book and a snowman candy dish knick-knack.  The snowman is really cute and his jacket hides the candy dish part.  And at least they filled it with mini candy bars!

Lots of fun mingling.  But the food was seriously lacking and they ran out of most of it after the first round.  I kid you not, when I went home I had a snack because I was still a little hungry and a glass of wine.  I didn't want one enough at the party to pay for a glass but a free one at my house hit the spot, lol.

My work's Christmas party is tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to that.

I was thinking that too!  I hope they have this store in Canada .... 
...after internet search .... They do, and in my city!  Cool, I will check it out.  

It looks like I'll be working overtime on the two days before my time off at Christmas.  That is sort of annoying, but they are early 6am shifts so I still get to leave at a decent time.  This also means I mean leave earlier from work on the 29th or something like that.  So not all bad news bears.
I didn't get a chance yesterday to read Prudie, maybe I'll do that now.  It is a quiet day at work for me  before the big push next week before Christmas.

I tried on a few others and they were all pretty comfy and supportive.  I'm not sure if there's a style you can go wrong with.

I'm really upset.  I just got terrifying news from my H.  He's okay and we're okay, it's about neighbors.

A little background.  There's a house on my corner that was in deplorable condition and sold about a year ago.  The same one I was going to buy, but then my previous neighbor changed her mind and put it on the MLS.  There's been major construction there ever since.

This morning, those construction workers were robbed AT GUN POINT!!!!  Not one lone worker.  A group of guys and in broad daylight.

Of course I feel bad for the workers.  But this is half a block away from my house!  I live in a fairly safe and nice neighborhood.  I've never even had a package stolen off my porch.  But especially in this city, it just goes to show that you never know when you might be the victim of a violent crime.

I cannot wait to get TF out of here and move to Cincinnati, smh.  It's been too scary for too long.

@short+sassy that is super scary and I'm glad you're OK.  

I'm feeling better but yesterday was an issue.  Chiquita is at 13 a kid who does not think things all the way through.  She's not bad and is often well-intentioned but I've had times where I have to tell her that what she thinks is funny isn't - or quit it before I have to tell her a 2nd/3rd time.

Leads to yesterday and evidently she entered a very problematic search on a classmate's computer that triggered tech security and school officials to investigate.  She was compliant throughout the entire time but it lead to an in school suspension for the day and she couldn't attend play rehearsal that afternoon.

When we asked her repeatedly why she entered the search she just thought "it would be funny" (it had to do with making weapons) and of all days she was in an in school suspension ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE SANDY HOOK SHOOTING.  

I let her know how upset we were with her poor judgment and for the afternoon felt just burnt.  I realize that so much of what's happened has been to her and not me so I am not attempting to be selfish but....as the grown up it's a lot.  I'm overwhelmed and was so angry with the kid who I thought knew better and knew what was and wasn't funny.  

I'm crossing fingers that we have our health for the next two weeks.  Sunday we head to NYC !

Oof @banana468...13 yr olds sometimes don't think things through.  As an educator, as a parent, as a person- I think kids these days (yes I hate that expression, no I'm not shaking my fist) have way too much digital access. I think school districts should dial back the 1:1 devices, they're beyond a distraction.  I think the punishment was fair and silver lining, she might not have a next time having gone through this.  And have the best time in NYC, good luck in all the rain - bring ponchos bc umbrellas are a PITA in midtown and the vendors on the streets will want at least $10 for them.  (Yes, this was us a couple weeks ago on the last monsoon Sunday!) 

Kids are back at school for the second day today, I do thankfully think that they're better.  Two of them tested positive for the flu, we'd all had flu shots mid-Nov so I imagine their symptoms were fairly mild thanks to that.  Hoping we're good for Christmas health-wise  
Resting for the kids / grading for me tonight, maybe a Christmas movie thrown in.  Tomorrow we celebrate my sister's bday and Sunday is our church's Nativity pageant.

@banana468 Hubby encounters this with his high school students regularly, the whole thinking something is funny when it is definitely NOT.  We are talking abuse to women, killing classmates, child abuse - all things he has heard them making jokes about in class.  And when he pulls them aside to explain how it is extremely serious and he wants to know if they are encountering these things or planning to do these things, they think he's an idiot for not getting the joke.  It disturbs him a lot as well.

@short+sassy That is super scary!  So close to you, and also scary that it was so brazen robbing a whole group of guys.  I hope they are okay after living through something like that.

Thank you @ei34 for the reminder!  With the temps where they're predicted to be I may  just wear a raincoat or pack a big purse.    I'm considering masking up for the show to try to minimize the length of time we'll be seated in close quarters near others.    One of the benefits of having an immunocompromised kid who is an altar server is that she sits away from everyone for mass.   Less of an option in NYC cozy theaters that don't have a ton of leg room.

It seems today is just A DAY for most of us.  I went into work late b/c of my shots, get there, chat with my co-worker, then try to get my computer going and nada.  Totally dead, can't get it to turn on.  I finally get permission to work from home (everyone is gone today it seemed), get home, sit down to splurge on Sarah McLachlan tickets, fall for a scam website (I really feel dumb), had to shut down my old card, go get a new one (b/c I still need to buy tickets).  I finally just emailed office manager and said I was out, taking personal time.

Harley is being a monster and I'm not quite sure what's wrong.  Probably a growth spurt or something, but ugh. 

Our end of year bonuses were amazing and I splurged on buying Sarah McLachlan tickets for me and my 2 best women friends and a ticket to Red Hot Chili Peppers for myself.  Paid off all of my credit card balances. Feeling pretty good about the new year.

i’ll have to look into those @mrsconn23! Always looking for a comfy bra.  I thought my “so obsessed wireless pushup” bra’s from VS were amazing but just noticed now they fall apart so easily. One has a hole in the material and the other has that sticky band falling off.

So scary @short+sassy, kinda why I hate checking nextdoor.  I’d rather not know what’s going on in my area. Of course, it’s not all true but sometimes ignorance is bliss.
@banana468 yeah, I’m sure kids that age don’t know the real implications of those searches.

Well @banana468 if it helps at when H was in middle school, very early internet days, they had computer class where they could send messages to the White House through their website (I bet you can see where this is going). H thought it was anonymous which of course it wasn’t even then. The FBI showed up based on what he wrote and also had an in school suspension. They tried to make it out of school and his Dad told the school being at home was way more fun for him so no he would not be going home. Kids make bad choices.

We’re also having a day. M kicked my belly, hard, this morning and after a few hours I called my doctor and they sent me to the hospital for monitoring. Everything seems fine, just uncomfortable.
