Bridesmaid or Flower Girl?

My niece will be 10 years old when I get married and I want her to be part of the wedding. I've heard 10 is too old to be a flower girl. Would it be better to have her as a Jr bridesmaid?
I have a 6 year old nephew who is the ring bearer so she would either walk with him or he would walk alone.
I want her to play a part, but I'm not sure what the best option would be. Thoughts?

Ask her.  10 year old girls will have clear opinions and won't shy away from when they feel they're asked to do something that is a 'little kid' job.

If she chooses a bridesmaid then call her a bridesmaid.  She knows she's not an adult so there's no need to put the jr in front of it that can add more 'little kid' notes.
  • I’d definitely ask her what she prefers.
  • My daughter had cousins, a 10 year old girl and her 7 year old brother, in the wedding party.  The girl was a bridesmaid, dressed in (age appropriate) similar attire as the other BM's, but asked to walk up with her brother.  She loved being considered a BM but was proud to walk with her brother.  She enjoyed some of the wedding morning festivities with the older BM's at the hair salon.
  • O I like that idea. Was the brother a groomsman or a ring bearer?
