Wedding Woes

Monday

Kids were asleep by 7:30 last night and it was glorious. We split a bottle of wine and chatted more than we do most evenings :)

Weekend was busy! Met up with some grad school friends and their kids for lunch yesterday after ninja class. Saturday was slow morning, errands, then a birthday party later in the afternoon.

What was everyone up to?

Re: Monday

  • I hope everyone had a good St. Patrick's Day weekend.  New Orleans usually does it up, but the Sat. parade was cancelled due to weather.

We did a big Costco trip on Friday.  I also took care of my phone woes, but had to go to THREE Metro PCS stores for someone to help me.  And the third store was locked up when we got there.  We had to wait 30 minutes for someone to show up.  I was less than impressed.  And all of this for a phone that I bought from them only two years ago, that had to be replaced.

I did some house organization on Sunday and also exercised, but pretty much flaked on Saturday.

I had a big meeting this morning.  Less eventful than I thought and I didn't have much to contribute (shrug).  It's been a PITA morning.  I usually WFH, but had to come into the office for that meeting.  My blood sugar was super low when I get up, so I was late to work because I had to wait for it to climb before I could drive.

My phone/authenticator woes from Friday are still following me.  Which I knew, since I needed to get a new phone.  Now IT needs to set up the new phone, in order for me to get onto the network.   Waiting, waiting, waiting.

  • @short+sassy I had to go through all of that nonsense recently with my new phone too.  I was even more annoyed b/c with Androids, it's usually all saved in the Google profile and everything is so easy.  It was on the other end that the authenticator freakouts were happening.  They did get it taken care of, but I was annoyed.  Of course, I'm annoyed at how many multi-level authenticator/texts, etc. I get anymore whenever I sign into everything.  I get it, it's for protection, but I'm still annoyed with it.

I had a good weekend.  I did my basic household chores and just rested a lot.  I probably should've worked, but I needed to give my brain and body a rest.  I'm feeling better and slowly coming out of the spiral.  I think some of my previous work trauma just came flying out, plus perimenopausal brain, and just all of the other shit that apparently I carry around, got keyed up and blasted all over.  I'm making some changes in my work space/attitude and it'll be okay.  It's going to take some time to totally come out of this.  The good news is that it does look like the pressure is somewhat released for now and I can start implementing my new plans to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Otherwise, SSDD.  I have, hopefully, a fun week/end planned.  A friend is doing a movie party tomorrow night and it's all people I love hanging out with. We did laugh, b/c she warned us that the movie was 3 hours long.  I said, "You know I go to bed at like 9, right?"  She has scheduled it in such a manner that we can all be home and in bed by 9. Wednesday night, I have tickets for a show and I got box seats, so we're not sitting all up in people's business.  Then, I have a glamour party from my boudoir pics that 2 very good friends are going to.  They're having a red carpet and everything, so we're all glamming up.

Weekend was good.  Friday we saw a comedian and he turned out pretty funny.  Saturday was a walk with three others at an arboretum, and then Billy Elliot; The musical.  I was dragging for that - and may have dozed off.  Sunday was a day of rest. I caught up on reality shows and even saw a cheesy romcom (Irish wish) on Netflix.

Also found out more meetup drama.  The organizer kicked out our friend because she insists she signed up for something and was a no show.  Our friend said she didn’t even sign up for it.  Also, the organizer has been canceling a bunch of events or not showing up altogether.  So that’s super hypocritical of her. She had a “three strikes your out” rule and if this was true, that would be one.  But the organizer had it out for our friend from the getgo.
However our friend rsvp’d yes for a fest coming up, and she’s 1/3 of our air b&b, so she’s showing up for that one regardless. Awkward for the person who kicked her out. I mean - can’t stop her from attending public fests.

Les Mis is awesome! I saw that in NYC years ago. I’d see that again.
@VarunaTT, I also want to be in by 10 on work nights.  I need some wind down time, and that puts me really in bed at 10:45ish.

Sorry about the phone woes @short+sassy yay for the baby snuggles as well as Les Mis @charlotte989875, that’s one of my favorite musicals and is tied with another show for seeing the most times on Broadway and thumbs down on the meetup drama @CharmedPam

I had the work week to end all work weeks last week. Too much drama. I was placed mostly in Life Skills classes this year and went along with it since I like the kids and mainly like being employed. The admin and overhead have been awful. I know it sounds like a teacher cliche but the students are a joy and admin makes it horrible.

There was a small bus accident last week returning to school from community job sites, everyone was physically fine, but a 24 yr old TA whose been disgruntled about being part of the program since a schedule switch since January hired a personal injury lawyer, tried to raise hell, bring others down with him (including the students’ sweet and incredible head teacher and the bus driver who is a terrific driver and great with the kids…a car making an illegal turn drove into our bus). The TA, teacher and bus driver all somehow ended up suspended on leave, and the students are suffering for it.  I’m not in any trouble but was pulled into meetings with the principal, director of PPS, asst superintendent, all week and am sort of de facto in charge of the classroom and stressed about making the right calls while balancing the kids’ needs. Ugh.

ExH is also beating his own record at being awful.  Crossed a major line yesterday that had me calling the D.A. this morning to reword part of the OoP.
This is usually a happy and festive stretch (St. Patrick’s Day yesterday, my youngest sister and brother’s birthday today and St. Joseph’s Day tomorrow) but I’m trying to rally myself, I’m not feeling it.  Food helps 😝 the corned beef and soda bread were soo good yesterday I always wonder why it’s a once a year meal.
  • I'm sorry about your week @ei34.  Negative drama sucks especially when you're pulled into the thick of it or it threatens your safety.  Good on you for continuing to get the D.A. involved where needed.  I hope the former IL's get to be in the loop on what's doing and trust me - eventually the kids are going to see all of this.

Weekend was so busy.  Saturday was GS cookie pick up.  DH thankfully took the middle seats out of my minivan and Saturday morning I was off to the location for case distribution.  I had in my car all but the Samoas for our troop!  Spent Saturday afternoon picking cookie orders and helping with booth sales for Chiquita.

Friday and Saturday night I was an Irish cooking mode: made two corned beef briskets, soda bread and two kinds of cupcake: Guiness  chocolate and green velvet.  Sunday was mass, then I made the frosting and made a baked colcannon with bacon that was fantastic.  Chiquita had an indoor soccer game - poor goalie broke her finger in the second half and had to go to the hospital.  Chiquita went in and held her own but my heart goes out to the poor girl who is now on the DL for a while.  Came home to make regular mashers and boiled up some carrots and cabbage and was done in time for my ILs and uncle to show up.  It was busy but a decent night.

Kiddo conferences today.  I'm curious to see what the teachers say since both kids are moving up schools next fall.

You were smart to pivot your trip to Alaska @levioosa, SIL and BIL sound awful… and @mrsconn23 crossing all the crossables that your nephew somehow ends up with your sister and BIL, I’m sorry it wasn’t just a definite yes on Friday
  • I’m so sorry for that outcome @mrsconn23, sounds like family time is exactly what was needed.
@levioosa stress free vacation instead? Yes please!

  • We were in Chicago to see My Fair Lady as our Christmas present from DD and SIL. We went out to dinner beforehand. It was a great time. Yesterday we went to church but the boys (one in particular) had melt downs. The afternoon was a little better. We left first thing this morning due to some appointments we had this afternoon. We are exhausted so we are going out for burgers at a local brewery for dinner.

The family will be home next weekend and DD's family will stay for a few extra days since it is their spring break. So that means tomorrow I start getting things ready for that. No one will be here for Easter so we are having a fake Easter meal on Sunday.
