Wedding Woes

Break up with her because she deserves better.

Dear Prudence,

My girlfriend and I have been dating for roughly four months, and we live in a small town. When we started, I was very physically attracted to her: She was in shape, and is a wonderful person. As a result, I began getting in shape, and I’m very proud of my accomplishments and feel way better about myself, yet she has resigned to “she gets fluffy in winter months and it’s not a big deal.” But it is to me. While I still love her personality, I am not attracted to her. She makes little to no effort about changing her diet, etc. I don’t want to be physical with her.

—Am I Shallow?

  • Oh break up with her because you're basing attractiveness on the physical. And some day you're going to realize that things change.

Yikes. Yeah, break up, she can do better than you
  • How much weight can someone gain in one season?
*looks down* oh.  Never mind .

I hope she reads this letter and dumps your shallow egotistical "alpha male" ass.  What a crock of BS.  Otherwise, break up with her.  Tell yourself whatever story you need, just get TF out of her life.
  • Sounds like he already told her she is too fat and needs to eat better.  Hence her explanation about "getting fluffy in the winter months".

She's already told him it's not a big deal...probably because it's something extra ridiculous like 5-10lbs...and she isn't going to change her diet.  There you go, dude.  That's the answer.  If this is his shallow dealbreaker, then he needs to move on.
