Friyay

This has been a week.  Just a lot of learning.  I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed, but I know once I have all this knowledge like it's second hand, I'll be okay.  RIght now we're in some sort of national IT outage and it's affecting our working software.  I could actually log on, but a lot of other people can't.  So just chilling at my desk right now, making that $$.

No big plans for the weekend. Seeing a movie and it's race weekend.

What's up for everyone else?  Hoping everyone is getting to feeling better.

Re: Friyay

  • I am super tired this morning. H woke up early and he is just so friggen loud when he's doing stuff around the house. Even when he tries to be quiet he's loud. I cannot. Otherwise not too much else is happening. I should probably go visit my grandparents but that feels exhausting too. But they're not doing so well and I really should go. I think we're going to make tacos for dinner tonight so that's something to look forward to. I went to the gym yesterday. I did like 15 minutes on the elliptical and was pretty short of breath so next time I'm going to bring my pulse ox to check. Ugh, stupid covid.

I am feeling motivated to do a little 1-2 day camping trip so I need to look into places to go that aren't too hot. Beach camping here is super fun but unfortunately getting sites is really hard. And if I pack everything up for camping I definitely don't want to drive 1-3 hours only to find there aren't any sites available.

  • The Crowdstrike outage has made my morning busy.  At least it's going by quickly.  I'm taking the afternoon off.

Everyone was gone last night, so DH and I had a few hours alone to ourselves.  We got to talk freely for once about any and everything.

My old neighbor's son (a year older than the kiddo...they were friends growing up) got married in Wales (his new wife is Welsh) and the pics are just stunning.  They had the whole thing at some estate and it's made for amazing pics.

DH, DefConn, and BIL are going to the track this afternoon to watch Brickyard practice.  SIL and youngest niece are at college orientation.  I plan to do...nothing.  I think.  I may go shopping, but it depends on whether I want to take a nap more.  LOL

    Have a good weekend y'all!!  :)
  • One of my colleagues is impacted by the IT outage but rest of us are plugging away.  We were all onsite yesterday for a team retreat.  It's great to see everyone and be back on campus, BUT I'm still glad I don't have to do that everyday.  We were joking about how we had to find dress pants for the day rather than our WFT "mullet" of business tops and comfy bottoms.

Not much planned for the weekend.  We have a state park pass and haven't been to any this summer.  We may try a couple on Saturday as it seems to be the best day weather wise.  Sunday will be church, laundry & starting to organize/purge in the office.

I have a dining room table I've been trying to see without luck.  Reached out to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and hoping they can come and pick it up.  That will make room in the garage for the desks and file cabinets coming from Amazon.

The weather has been gorgeous here the past few days and should continue through tomorrow.  Storms coming in on Sunday and then the humidity returns - ick.  But 'tis the season!

Did not even realize there was an IT outage im so out of the loop. Vibes to anyone it’s impacting!

Off to the Jersey Shore (Long Beach Island) on Sunday. It’s when we all do the big house on the ocean together.  I’m a little burned out of my family. But it’s the kids’ favorite week of the year. The compromise is we’ll stay until Thursday morning or so, instead of all week.
  • It's affecting people in our company and our software.  Some folx can't even get logging into their computers.  I also was paying bills this morning and there are 2 I can't get logged on to pay.  Annoyingly one of them is utilities so I'll be double checking on that one.

I don’t think I’m affected by the outage, nothing I came across with anyway? I know flights have been canceled/delayed.
i too am tired and can’t get motived for nothing.  I thought I slept rather well too? I also hate my body.  TMI maybe, but I’m on the continuous bcp to stop periods and for the most part it goes well. I take the sugar pill week every 4 months but ever since I took an antibiotic my body has been whack. I’m taking another sugarpill week this week even though I did it last month (didn’t want it for my cruise). I wasn’t expecting this surprise visit!  We’re having lovely weather here too.  To bad i’m not outdoorsy.

  • Plastic surgeries I have started thinking about (sigh).

I have come to the harsh realization that I need "hip liposuction?"  That may not be the right phrase for specifically what I want.  I was trying to wait until I got to my goal weight or stopped losing for a long time. But my left hip is so bad because I also have a hard ball of scar tissue from needle injections and I hate it so much.  I swear I thought I was good about changing sites often, but apparently not nearly enough.  The irony is that as I have lost weight, the ball hasn't gotten any smaller so now it's even more disproportional looking.  I have a small ball on my right hip that is mainly just fat, it's like 3-4x smaller.

I did a Google search and it's about $5K-$8K.  Maybe I'll go to Turkey.  The plastic surgery capital of the world.  I could have a sweet trip AND potentially save money, lol.  In my wildest dreams, I would also love a breast lift.  But I'm a lot more nervous about that.  It's not as important as the hip/throat surgeries for my self-esteem anyway.  The recovery sounds like a bitch.  I'd have to be out of work for 1-2 weeks.  Not lift anything heavy for 6 weeks.  And then it can be a few months before you're truly 100% recovered.

I also have excess skin on my throat now.  I've heard it's a 15-minute procedure in a doctor's office and is painless enough that they don't even need to use anesthesia.  I've also heard it's about $1500 in the US.

  • The outage is affecting the F1 Mercedes team in practice and I think Red Bull too!!!
  • I feel like such a rube.  I saw a headline about Crowdstrike, but I don't know what it is so I didn't pay it any mind.  But from just the post sampling here, apparently it's some big deal that's used at many work sites.  Though apparently not anywhere I have worked, lol.

I've been having a problem with an Oracle-based site for my job.  Every time I have logged in this week, it's not recognizing my password.  It forces me to reset my p/w.  Then the same thing happens the next day.

  • Be careful about plastic surgery in Turkey - you could end up like Jennifer Aydin of RHONJ!

  • @short+sassy my understanding is that Crowdstrike is a security platform tied into Windows.  Windows came out with an update last night and there's something in it that was a bug for Crowdstrike.  Crowdstrike said they've issued a fix, but this is where my knowledge ends about how that goes about happening for everyone.
  • Crowdstrike is screwing us up too. It's frustrating, because it's not like everything is broken and you can't log in, but instead this system throws errors or that integration is down, so you see weird little things and have no clue why, but everyone is sending messages all over and opening dozens of tickets.

I'm trying to log off in the next hour or so to head up to the lake. It's drizzly and basically soup, but it's not supposed to get over 90 all weekend, so I'm good. I'm hoping to get up there early enough to get in the water and play around before dark.

Even worse - The Silva twins!
honestly look into FL doctors.  The price is competitive because of supply and demand.

Also, not an end all be all, but I recommend this for stubborn fat pockets. Many people who get lipo/TT get something called “dog ears” anyway so you could need it after the procedure (like months after, when it heals).  I got dog ears and noticed a difference using this.

The problem with the Silvas is they have done way too much plastic surgery!

I'll do more research overall about plastic surgery in general in Turkey.  But as long as the procedures/quality isn't that different from the US, I don't see any issue.  I would do due diligence for any doctor, no matter where they are.  For example here in the US, I have heard so many horror stories about that Cool Sculpting chain.

Ugh, I was not aware of dog ears.  But I just looked it up and it sounds like it's a minor touch-up to fix, if needed.  Thanks for that recommendation!  It's low cost enough to at least give it a try.  I wonder if it will break down the scar tissue also.

How long did it take for you to see a difference?

About a month.  I was working on one area for about an hour a day on it.  I knew I saw a difference because the flap would hang over my panties, but now, the hangover is minimal. I stopped just before Alaska but I have to get back to it.  My other side has a buldge I need to flatten.  I really like the device though.  The suction alone just feels good!
yes, of course do research. Many countries excel in plastics.  Mexico is controversial but yet highly recommended too, i wouldn’t go for plastics but apparently it’s top notch for bariatric surgery. A lot of Americans & Canadians don’t have coverage for that (and why not? It could be life saving) and Mexico is an affordable option. I would also suggest signing up to “realself” to browse work and previous Q&A’s

  • @CharmedPam I knew someone who flew from CA to Florida for cheaper lipo. The surgeon nearly killed her because he removed 3x the amount you're supposed to in a single session. Here we have issues with a lot of people going to Tijuana for medical procedures. I've seen so many botched results I can never convince myself to go. I definitely wish I lived in San Diego though (for multiple reasons) but I would totally go to TJ for super nice massages and facials that are a fraction of the price here.

Chances are, she got a shady surgeon (and any state could have one).  The law is 3.5 L to 4 litres of fat removal in one session in FL. I googled Illinois and we’re at 5.

    https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/liposuction-limits-by-state

eta; I went to Michigan for mine.  I went to a surgeon who had bad reviews too.  He had great ones.  I think all surgeons will.  Most his bad reviews were from botched TT’s, and I was going for lipo (not being cut open). It turned out well for me in the end because I had no issues with him and love my results.  But i think any country, any state will have bad surgeons.
i also tried to get it done in Canada because the exchange on the American dollar is so great, it’s my home town, and my cousin is an emt and I would have asked her for recovery help.  But I called a few places and they wont take non Canadians (which I don’t 100% believe because I hear stories of people getting work done there from here).  It’s for insurance purposes.

I've thought about getting major dental work in MX.  There's a city nicknamed "Molar City" that is right over the border from Yuma, AZ.  They cater to Americans looking for cheaper dental work.  I've heard general good reviews about the dental work performed there.

Though I wish the famous town for dental work was near the beach.  Instead of Yuma, yuck.
