Wedding Woes

Wednesday

I ran into a friend last night who used to live in my building and moved to another building in the same management company.  Company also sold that building and he said his rent went up a few hundred dollars.  I'm assuming the companies involved are the same.  Talked to Mom last night and she's upset too.  She's just decided that she'll pay the difference if she needs to.  I'm not sure how I feel about that being an adult woman, but there's a LOT here that I'm going to have trouble finding another place.  It mostly comes down to security and internet.  I have time to make any decisions and I might just be able to move to a smaller apartment in the complex (I've lived in #3, now #5, and I really like #6 and it's about half the size), so I'm trying not to be too down in the dumps about this.

Bought a bottle of NA wine and went to my hangout last night because I needed to see people,  I had a good time, but I'd really like to find something else to do in situations like this.  I"m going to see a movie tonight that I'm excited about b/c it looks absolutely BSC: The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension".  Alamo Drafthouse has been knocking it out of the park recently with their time capsule movies and I'm excited to see this one.

Re: Wednesday

  • Hi, I'm here for a quick few and then am off to a work event.  The VP is also at an event downtown at the same time.  I have a feeling traffic is going to be a nightmare of road closures.

I had a stressful call with my client.  He's nice, but a know-it-all.  Loves to tell me how things should work and how I should be doing my job.  Ugh.

@VarunaTT, ((hugs)) SO sweet of mom to offer to help.  <3

  • I'm back from my college girls' trip to Montana. The trip was uneventful considering all the airport stuff going on but it was a long day. I left Spokane at 7:30 am and arrived  in Indy at 8:30 pm. I'm exhausted. The trip was good. I am not as outdoorsey as my friends so not my favorite of our trips. I also was not as tolerant of some things as I should have been but oh well. No big blow ups or anything. I think in the future we should plan shorter trips. We started doing long weekend trips and they have morphed into week long trips. I prefer the long weekend variety. The trips have also gotten more expensive due to locations (and inflation probably).

Anyway I'm home for a week and a half and we head out for family vacation to the beach. That I am looking forward to!

I'm busy doing laundry and getting ready for a house guest tonight. Trying to catch up on posts from the last week.

Boo hiss @VarunaTT, that’s the pits if that’s what is going to happen.
Edit; was going to say “ssdd” but that’s not true! I bought my halloween costume yesterday! Obviously not me in the pic, It’s from an ad and I’m worried because I want the material to bunch up at the waist like hers but my waist is boxy…. So we’ll see

  • @VarunaTT, I know you're planning to move out of state at some point in the future.  But if that is still at least a few years away, have you thought about buying a house or condo?  I assume if you want to stay in the downtown, it will have to be a condo.

OMG, As I had just started to write this post, we had calamity happen and my H and I extremely upset.

Our dog Izzy is okay.  But we just had a neighbor's three big dogs break through our fence while she was outside and attack her.  Thankfully, we couldn't find any bite marks.  My H happened to be outside, but around the corner on the side of our house so he didn't see the attack start.  But he heard Izzy crying and squealing, so he ran into the backyard.  She was on the ground with the dogs over her.  He shooed them off of her and was trying to get them back into their yard, while screaming for their owner.  I'm so glad they didn't try to attack and bite my H.

Thank God I am WFH today.  I can see the backyard from the bedroom I work in.  Now I feel like a jerk I didn't hear Izzy or see anything.  But I heard my H yelling and looked over to see the dogs in my yard.  I ran over to our side door, which is where Izzy comes in/out of the house  I was praying she was at the door so I could get her safely inside and she was.  I have rarely felt such relief.  I called out to my H that I had her.

But I'm shaking a little.  I keep thinking of all the things that could have gone wrong.  We have a fully fenced in yard and we let Izzy outside by herself all the time.  We're always home when we do.  But if we're in the front room, we can't hear the backyard at all.

What if my H hadn't been outside.  What if I hadn't been home to get Izzy to safety.  What if they had bit or even killed Izzy.  What if my H had gotten bit.

Now we are also going to have to do a MAJOR change to our routines.  It's not enough to fix that part of the fence.  They could break through another part.  Or dig under it or climb over it.  We're going to have to take her on walks now.  We can't even take her into our own yard, accompanied!  We can't necessarily protect her from three aggressive dogs and it would be dangerous for us also.  It also makes me sad because she loves the yard.

Not a shocker here, but the owner has always been a complete waste of life.  His parents are rich and he was never worked a day in his life.  They gave him the house.  He's always rude and selfish.  Drives drunk and has hit his various neighbors' cars many times.  His street is perpendicular to ours, so he thankfully never drives down ours.  When he only had one dog, he would walk it off leash and never pick up its poop.  That kind of thing.

I am hoping the fates smile on me and he gets thrown back in jail for a DUI.  It would be so nice to have our last few months in this home be peaceful and get our yard back.

  • @short+sassy file a report with animal control.  I can almost guarantee those dogs have attacked before.  Enough reports and the city will take the animals and keep the owner from owning more  I get so mad when this happens because the owner is always to blame.  It's pretty rare that any dog is just complete uncontrolled aggression.  I'm glad Izzy is okay.

Honestly, I don't want to buy.  I don't want that responsibility or roots.  On top of that, our market has just gone mental.  I have a friend who is  real estate agent and she just posted that our median house cost is $340K.  Now i know that seems cheap to some of you, but not even...shoot 10 years ago, $340K here was a big 3000+ square foot house and a huge yard.  My house with my ex was less than 100K for 1400ish square feet when we bought.  Most of the condos in this area are around $250K.  This wouldn't be such a big deal, but the wages in this area do NOT support housing costs like that.

I'm just sad but it will pass.  I've got enough time to make a good decision if I have to and time to save up for the moving costs.  And maybe they'll come in under my top number and I won't have to worry.

  • Very scary @short+sassy? Glad he was outside and Izzy is ok. I second animal control. You should be able to use your backyard however you want (unless a murder grounds of course.  Don’t use it as that).

  • How scary @short+sassy!  I'm so glad neither Izzy or your DH were hurt.

  • Wow! I'm glad Izzy and you and your H are ok @short+sassy! I'd definitely call animal control.
  • @short+sassy I'm glad Izzy is okay!
