I wanted Jen to have her own post.

The weekend was good.  I put up my new art/functional um...jacket hanger? over the weekend.  A spot to hang coats and purses right by the door.  It's a pretty piece, and I've coveted it for about a year, but was unwilling to spend the money for it (it was about $40 and IDK, that just seemed like too much for what it is).  However, I splurged and got it to celebrate my 100 days of alcohol free living (at 109 now).  Saturday was also Harley's Gotcha Day, so I made a lick mat for her with pumpkin puree, sardines, and cat nip.  She turned her nose up at it, so now i have this stuff and IDK what to do with it.  I've also given up and just put her water in a regular ceramic bowl and she far prefers that to the recirculating bowls, so I guess I'm adding a morning chore to change her water and a weekly chore to make sure to wash the bowl  Damn cat.

Didn't make it to he movie again.  I just can't seem to make Sunday morning happen.  Saturday mornings are okay, but not Sunday.  IDK why.  My mom and I went to Joann's and I dropped $150 to make a new dress for work.  It's ridiculous and I cannot believe how expensive fabric has gotten.  At the same time I am struggling with so many of my clothes being so itchy. I think it's perimenopause because I've never really had this problem.  So I wanted to be able to touch the fabric and make sure my skin could handle it.  I got a jersey knit.  And I couldn't really handle every single one of even the jersey knit, so it's worth it.  I also had to get 7 yardss because I bought a very flow-y patter that is a dress or pants.  I'm excited about the pattern, but it's going to be a PITA in cut out.  I'm going to work on cutting the pattern tonight, then the fabric in a few days.  I have never tried to sew with a cat around, so this might be really interesting.  But the pattern itself is going to be easy peasy, mostly just a bunch of straight seams.  I'm doing the dress/pants A in one color.

How was everyone else's weekend?

I LOVE that design @VarunaTT. what color? Snaps to you for making your own clothing. I can’t even fix a hole.  Maybe I can, I never tried?
I think I’ve actually seen that link before @MNNEBride. I love imagining “living like the other side”.

weekend was good. But I’m glad I have no travel for another. 3.5 weeks now.  My back is killing me from long long car rides, flights and sleeping on the hardest mattress on earth (but grateful I didn’t need a hotel room).
on the way back, duty free had a 50% off perfume sale.  So on top of 50% off, we get the exchange rate in our favor and no taxes. It’s a gamble because no testers for the sale like the full price bottles (just scent description), but it’s a gamble I’m willing to take! I got 6 bottles of perfume and will only give one away, which is shocking because it’s Lancôme and I actually love that company.  I’ll give it to my mom.  After pricing them out online, there was about $610 worth of perfume that I only paid $192 for.  One goes.  Not bad for a blind buy! I also had to buy a new perfume organizer though.  I’ve been going perfume-mania lately.

  • Weekend was ok here. It rained on and off, but we were able to do a long walk on the belt line Saturday and a short hike yesterday.

I think my sister is getting divorced and I'm surprised by how sad it's making me. I know she's been really unhappy for a long time and this is for the best, but when she told me he moved out yesterday it just felt so real. I need to do something for her this week and I can't figure out what. Would you want a care package if your spouse moved out?
  • @CharmedPam the first 2 fabrics I selected didn't have enough on the bolt, so I went with a 3rd choice with is a pretty dark blue kind of galaxy print.  My mom was laughing because I bought white thread.  She said it will show and I said, Yeah, I need it to, I probably am going to have to use my readers to sew.  She started laughing because I had them on my head...I needed them to read the back of the damn pattern..  Once I have the pattern figured out, I think I'm going to go back and get a solid dark blue, a solid white, and a really cool blue/white oil slick pattern that I loved, but there wasn't enough on the bolt for a full pantsuit out of it.

There are place online to buy fabric cheaper, but again, I'm stuck with not being able to touch it and you can't return cut fabric   I'm going to KC in a few months and I'm going to hit up some bigger fabric shops there.  I wish I had Mood Fabrics even a state away, I'd be so happy.

Sewing really isn't that hard.  Taking a beginners class will help, but unless you're getting into cosplay or costumes, most clothes are fairly basic.  This one will be easy, because it's just a bunch of straight lines.  The biggest challenge with something like this is making sure your layouts and cuts are very well done, your stitches have the right level of tightness, and just paying attention while sewing long lines -- it's easy to get off track or have the fabric getting bunched up in front/behind and messing things up OR your damn bobbin runs out somewhere.
  • Weekend was decent.  Saturday we went to a family party with DH's cousins which was a great time.  We got back late and yesterday was a sorting/cleaning time after Mass.  Chiquita had soccer try outs this morning and then I take her to camp later.

We had an interesting discussion in the house with her wanting an album from a singer - who I can't remember but one of her songs has lyrics about keeping it casual and very clear references to oral sex.  Cut to us talking about it with Chiquita that if she wants the album we may let her have it but the lyrics aren't to be sung or discussed.  I can just see pearl clutching if it comes up and she wasn't exactly aware of what was going on in her innocence of 13.    Cut to her asking DH and me if we've ever done that and we watched our child turn lovely shades of pink in embarrassment.

I would want a care package for anything happening in my life. It’s always a nice gesture.

I’m LOL’ing at that conversation! But we all sang songs back in the 80’s we had no idea what they were about.  Albeit a bit more discreet I think

  • Oh, question for the Ohio ladies.  I have some friends moving to Columbus.  They're having a going away party and I'd like to put together a care package.  Is there anything Columbus specific that I can maybe get them as an intro to the city?  I'm going to get some GC for Dominos for those first few nights moving in, and I was thinking like a good map or tourist book?  Maybe GC to some local restaurants?
  • I’m not from Ohio but this is associated with them!

  • Weekend was good. DS2 came home Friday and we went to Mexican restaurant for dinner. Saturday morning we went to see Deadpool and Wolverine which surprisingly I liked. DS2 said he didn't think I would like it but I loved the opening scene and all the inside jokes. He went to his friend's birthday party Saturday evening and H and I just hung out at home. Went to church yesterday, DS2 left for Dayton afterwards. I started watching Mallorca Files on Prime. I like it - kind of reminds me of '80s crime shows.

This morning my book club sub group went for another walk along the parkway. It was a nice morning to be outside. I did a pile of ironing when I got home - I hate ironing so it tends to pile up.

This was one of my favorite places in Columbus! I lived in Toledo but any time we went to Columbus we stopped here.

  • Weekend was great but exhausting. We went to the cabin on Saturday; baby J and I came back that night but M and H stayed over. M had the best time but was so tired.

I have to decide on the job. I have an offer for one and I’m one of two finalists on the other. I met with one of our executives today who basically said “why wouldn’t you take it” to the one I have an offer for. Both are more money, higher grade/title. Ugh. Hey @casadena- I’ll make your career decision for you if you make mine!

We can get that paid off in no time and have our own WW vacation house! Lol.

  • @MyNameIsNot, I'm sorry to hear about your sister!  It must be tough for her right now, but hopefully in time this will be the start for a happier life.

@CharmedPam, I think Skyline hails from Cincinnati, but Columbus is only a few hours away.  My H and I tried Skyline during our reconnaissance trip, I think it's required when you visit the city, lol.  My H even went full OH weird and had it on top of spaghetti.  I went with just the chili.  We both decided it's odd tasting.  It has a slightly sweet taste to it that we didn't care for.  Not too bad.  We finished our meals.  But it's something I would only buy once in a blue moon, if that.

My H and I enjoyed a restaurant month lunch yesterday.  It was at a Japanese place and an especially good value.  $28 for 5 courses and one of those courses was an alcoholic beverage or soda.  Then it was a long afternoon of running errands at Costco and Walmart.

Something very weird happened at one of my rentals today and I'm disturbed by it.  My H was the one who talked to the tenant, so this is second hand info.  I'm hoping to ask more questions when he gets home.

My tenant was home, but had her door unlocked.  Two people walked into the house without knocking.  Who TF does something that rude and scary.  It's also stupid dangerous on their part to be doing something like that in a gun happy state like Louisiana.

They talked to my tenant and referenced my first name.  She said they were "real estate people".  But she's the kind of person who would probably lump anyone that mentioned my name into that category.  She couldn't give any more details than that, not even why they were there.

As an aside, my business owns this rental.  My personal name is nowhere on the public records.  Though my personal address is because that's my business address, so I guess someone could look it up that way.  I also don't think it's that hard to find out who the officers are for an LLC.  But why is someone even looking for that info?

My H called me and made sure I didn't send anybody there.  I told him to call our tenant back and tell her we had nothing to do with this.  That if something like this happens again and we haven't notified her, don't ever let them in and she doesn't need to say anything to them.  She's been my tenant for 7 years and knows we are on point to notify her anytime someone is going to be at the property for repairs, or an appraisal, or whatever.  We even notify her if someone will be doing repair work outside, even if they don't need to enter the house.

I'm racking my brain to think of what this possibly could have been about.  Who is not bothering to contact me, yet referencing my name while they barge into someone's house.

Hmmm.  My liability insurance just renewed.  Sometimes I've had insurance companies want to do an inspection of the interior of the house.  But I've never had one go over to a property willy-nilly, without contacting me so I can make arrangements.

You have cursed me, @MNNEBride, lol.  There is now a realtor.com ad with a picture of this house on my work computer's internet home page!

I don't care at all.  It's just hilarious how bad whatever does the web viewing/internet spying still is even after 30ish years.

It ignores the hundreds of listings I've looked at in Cincy for a sub-$250K price range.  At the very same realtor.com website.  But the one $20M property I look at for a few minutes as a joke, is now a personalized ad for me.

  • @short+sassy ads seem to think I have a the funds for a private yacht. I keep getting ads to rent one with a captain or for deals on yacht sales and like, I'm flattered the algorithm thinks I have that kind of money, but it's not happening. lol.
