Wedding Woes

Tuesday

We're behind this morning!

Took my allergy shots this morning.  I had the same nurse as last week, who hurt me with the shots.  She's gotten much better already and things were a lot smoother and didn't hurt as badly.

The DNC convention last night was absolutely amazing.  There were so many great speeches, the stage setup, the writing, commercials, everything is simply fantastic.  It just LOOKS so much better than the RNC did.  And this party?  Has a DEEP bench of outstanding people coming up behind these Boomers who are finally being forced to let go.  It was really lovely to see so many young faces, but also all the love and respect being given to those who fought in the past.  HRC had a standing ovation for like 3 minutes and she even had a moment where the mask slipped and she looked so light, happy, and surprised.  Honestly, she could've just sat and let them shout "Lock him up" at her and smiled, while drinking a nice ice tea, and I would've laughed my ass off.  I'm glad that other party leaders kibosh that, but Hilary absolutely deserved to hear that.  I'm going to watch Biden's speech this morning.  I'm usually in bed around 9 and asleep by 10, and I just couldn't keep myself awake any longer.  I made it to Biden's daughter Ashley and was just like, He's going to talk for at least 20 minutes, I can't do this.  Also Jill Biden is still just so damn pretty and she was dressed to the nines last night.

I just checked my calendar and I have a slow week this week, no activities after work planned.  Nice to have a slow week.

Re: Tuesday

  • Jill Biden is an incredibly impressive woman in her own right!  She has two Masters.  At the age of 55, got a PhD in Education.  She's worked as a teacher for various grades, as well as at a community college, for most of Biden's political career.  I'm almost positive she even had a p/t job in education when he was Vice-President.  She's also founded a number of charities.

It's nice to hear HRC had such a show of support.  I feel like she's been bad-mouthed way more than she deserves, sometimes even by Democrats.  You know at least some of that is because she is a woman.

HRC walked, so Kamala Harris could run!  At least I really, really hope so.  I also hope Trump is agonized to his core, every time he remembers that HRC won the popular vote.  The personal torment he will suffer if a POC woman beats him would be so delicious.

Nothing new going on with me.  The usual massive stress, lol.  I e-mailed my insurance agent this morning to find out if the people who walked into my tenant's home with no invitation, might have been from the insurance company.  Or if he had any idea what that could have been about.  But I haven't heard back from him yet.

The plot thickened when my H gave me more details about his conversation with the tenant.  They didn't just mention my name, they bold-faced lied and said I had arranged their visit.  She said they told her they needed to "look around" and that was what they did.

  • Holy crap, @short+sassy, I hope your tenant takes more care in the future.  That really sounds like someone on a scouting trip scam.

Yes, First Lady Biden was a part time community college professor the entire time her husband was in office, which I think is amazing.  She is a fantastic role model.  I already respected her, but in some article I was reading, she talked about how she turned down Biden's marriage proposal twice.  It was because she just felt really unsure about marrying someone who already had 2 children and she knew she couldn't say yes and then back out later, because the family had already lost so much.  The 3rd time she was ready to say yes.  I don't know many people who really think of family like that and it was so impressive and human, to me.
  • This is a crazy story @short+sassy, something’s up! If they were legit, you’d think they’d leave a business card for them?
Heading to a movie after work. For once in my life I came back from a vacation not overwhelmed with work.  Which isn’t a good sign.  The ladies backing me up weren’t very busy then because usually they have questions and work thrown back at me.
I have to stop by the office too, to pick up a
parcel.  I placed a kylie cosmetics order and sent it to work because I wasn’t home for it and make up and sun is ew.   But right after it, I placed a skims order.  I need some new bras and tried some of them on at nordstrom just for fit and comfort ideas, and I actually got what the hype was all about.  Unfortunately nordstrom’s stock is very limited so I bought my size online. Because both kylie cosmetics and skims use shop pay as a service when I checked out, I didn’t realize skims was ALSO going to work since it was the last ‘ship to’ address I used.  I don’t care if my coworkers know I’m supporting the Kardashians, that’s not new for them lol, but I didn’t want my bra order sent to work! (Skims makes more than bras now, I can say they were leggings)

  • Honestly, @short+sassy if your insurance agent comes back and says it wasn't them, I think I'd make a police report and ask for more neighborhood patrols for a bit.  Maybe ask the neighbors around if anything like that happened.  I've seen so many scams lately of people coming to the door and lying to try and get inside people's homes.  It's frightening.
  • I'm with the others on a police report.  Do your neighbors have doorbell cams?  I'd start to ask if they can pull what they have.

  • Okay that’s wild @short+sassy I’d also tell your tenants to file a police report.
  • I keep alternating between cautious hope and despair that things haven't changed at all in regards to the election.

@short+sassy that is so scary. I am shocked your tenants let them in. If I hadn't heard directly with my landlord I would tell whoever they weren't welcome in until I had made contact and confirmed with my landlord directly. I agree with Varuna. My spidey senses are tingling. Hopefully it's just insurance and you can file a complaint with them, but there's so many awful scams and scouting now.

Weekend was okay. H and I got into a little tiff. We have a difference of opinions on some things and while I feel like I can see if from his way, I don't think he's able to see it from mine and the fact that he refused to acknowledge his stubbornness made me more annoyed. We talked it out for the most part but I'm still in a little bit of a funk.

    Otherwise, SSDD.

  • I definitely hope my tenant keeps her door locked going forward.  This isn't rural Montana.  New Orleans is NOT that kind of place!  FWIW, she's born and raised here which is why I was surprised she does that.

Initially, I thought it was some kind of scam.  It still probably is, though I'm not sure what.  I know people sometimes use subterfuge to case the place.  But doing research on the property to find my personal name is going next level.  I wouldn't think it's something criminals normally do.

But I dunno!  Maybe it's a new thing.  Drive around and make a list of multi-family houses.  NOLA has a lot of them.  Check the tax assessor's website to make sure it's in a business name, because a personal name implies the owner might live in one unit.  Do an extra few minutes of research to find the business owner's name.  And viola!  That adds a lot of legitimacy to talk your way in.  Or a good excuse when they find the door unlocked and walk in, smh.
