Bridesmaid overspent on Bachelorette Party

When planning the bachelorette party, the bride was very mindful and considerate of budget, quoting a certain spend for all costs aside from the air bnb. there is no MOH, so a bridesmaid volunteered herself and handled the decor, booking activities and catering, and shopping. She also sent out a form months before asking everyone’s budget for the costs outside of the airbnb. After the bachelorette, she Venmo charged us each $330, which was $150 over (nearly double) what was budgeted per person. No prior approval on budget was given. Is it acceptable for someone to spend your money without alerting you beforehand, when you gave them a set budget? it was a 11 person bach party which means she spent over $1500 too much. I don’t want to cause tension with the bride and I’m sure if I caused a real fuss she would find out but she would also be upset to know budgets were not respected. thoughts?

The bride shouldn't have been involved in planning at all, but that doesn't mean you should drag her in now.

No, the bridesmaid has no right to demand anything beyond budgeted. Everyone should respond and pay her the $180 as originally agreed and ignore the request beyond what was budgeted. That was her choice to spend extra; she can pay for it.
  • Nope.

Just tell her that you can't pay more than you budgeted for.
  • No. Everyone should just pay the already agreed to amount and decline all other requests for money beyond that.
