Hump Day

How's everyone today?  @mrsconn23 how have you been?

Re: Hump Day

  • Kind of dragging today but I've been getting pretty good sleep at night so not sure what it is.  Maybe mild exhaustion is a new fun PMS symptom?  Bc AF is on her way in the next couple days?
I'm caught in the middle of ridiculous mom drama between two friends of DS (aren't girls stereotypically the "dramatic" ones?).  Although it's the moms more than the sons.  I'm close friends with one, even if her son is a PITA, and sort of see where the other is coming from, but I'm about to pull a Switzerland and ask them both to just stop complaining to me.

Is it hump day? I dunno anymore.
You know @ei34 sometimes people our age (and older) cause more drama than school age kids.  It’s amazing.
Someone in our office took Monday/Tuesday off from being sick and she came in today but sounds horrible.  She does this all the time.  We don’t have sick days but we have the capability to wfh if we’re sick.  So do it!
i’m tired. We went out last night, home at 12:15 but my parents (in town until today) wanted to watch TV so I felt fine then and stayed up till 1. I’m feeling it now. I also felt the seats were horrible at the bar we were at and sitting for 5ish hours on so I got my vibrating cushion from the car (that I use for long road trips for my back) AND was grumpy when I left because the juke box got so loud. “You can’t hear anyone in there.  It’s like a dance club.  Here hold my back pillow mom so I don’t look stupid” lol. Tell me your over 40 without telling me your over 40.

  • One of the reasons I hate pediatrics is because of parents. People are nuts sometimes and parents can cause more drama than kids.

Work today. I wore a skirt today and I feel weird about it. The lightening that hit our building last week knocked out the AC and I am serious when I say I think it was at least 90 degrees inside my office. I am always cold. I run a space heater daily at work. I will go on a quick paced 2 hour hike and I won't sweat as much as I was sweating yesterday just sitting. It was so hot I almost had one of those panic moments where you think this is it, I'm gonna die here of heat stroke. lol. IMO the clinic should be closed because it was way too hot to work and for patients. But...moneyyyyy.

  • I am in a MOOD.  Everyone is lambasting MO (rightfully so) about the state execution of an innocent black man yesterday.  I am also incredibly depressed about it.  AND MO Democrats have been screaming for help in this state since the 2000s.  Those of us who have to live here and deal daily in all aspects of life with the racism, sexism, religious bigotry, god, guns, and business, are tired, burnt out, and depressed.  People just now showing up to tell us our problems are getting a big middle finger from me.

I have been slicing things out of my life recently.  I'm trying to simplify everything I touch.  I've gotten rid of all subscriptions, everything is going on autopay, and I'm opening an account with an "allowance" so I don't have to try and track so much stuff during the month.  I'm buying some small things so I can reduce my laundry down to every 2 weeks.  Being a single adult is just so wearying.  The last place I'm trying to figure out how to reduce my workload is eating, but that's the hardest to get around.  I wish I was old enough for Meals on Wheels, honestly.
  • @VarunaTT Since you're saving money on subscriptions could you try putting that towards a meal prep program (that is already prepared, not like Home Chef where you still have to make it)?

@VarunaTT.  My friend sent me a free box of factor meals and I’m so happy she let me try it. I’d put it in the OK category.  Like, good not great and IMO not worth the price.  She loves them so each their own.  Also, I fill up pretty fast and am not too too hungry lately.  I’m on the strongest appetite suppressant on the market and a few of the Factor meals did not satisfy me.  I was hungry shortly after.  That’s unusual for me. I’d just eat “amie’s kitchen” or something high end if you don’t want to cook.
    edit, words again.

  • Thanks ladies.  I should probably do a deep dive again.  Most of them were just so expensive and I got tired of frozen reheated meals after a bit.  I'm just tired of doing the planning, shopping, cooking, and then cleaning.  Even with prep/bulk cooking, premade meals plans, and grocery delivery.  Honestly, I wish I could just pop a cube in my mouth and get everything I need or hook up to an IV.  Meal replacement shakes seem to have a lot of sugar usually and I have a texture aversion to  lot of them as well (anything that come close to the texture of thick and wet is a major issue, like I'm careful eating sandwiches or I can get so grossed out it'll make me sick because of wet bread feeling).
  • @levioosa, I hear you!  I tried Home Chef years ago and hated it.  Fortunately, it was a really good promo deal so I think I only paid $60 for 4 weeks of a 2-person meal twice a week.  Something like that.  If I want to spend that much time prepping things, I'll just buy the same stuff at the grocery store for a lot cheaper.  And make multiple meals for the same amount of work.  Plus 90% of their sides were a type of potato.  The whole potatoes. That I had to peel and boil.  I don't like potatoes enough for all that work and threw them away half the time.

@CharmedPam, one of our former neighbors I was friendly with used to get Factor.  I never tried it.  They didn't look very appetizing because of how plain they were.  But the worst part was how it smelled when she cooked it.  Exactly like a heated up MRE, which make a lot of concessions on taste for cost/shelf stability.  No, thank you!  Maybe it was the specific meals she got, because she seemed to get the same few.  But it was a bad impression for me of Factor.  I'd try it also if someone gave me one because you never know.  But would never order it to try.

  • My new team is an absolute dumpster fire. I asked my new manager if I was being punked.
  • Ugh @charlotte989875. That sucks, especially because you were so torn on taking this position. I hope it's just growing pains and that after you're there a few months things settle down.

The meal service I use is pretty good (local for us and not nationwide). Their menu changes every week. It's limited in that they don't really have vegetarian options and how good the meal is really depends on which meal you choose (or maybe I'm just a turkey patty hater), but for the most part it's a decent healthy option, it's already completely prepared and heat up ready. I sometimes doctor them up by adding some extra spices to the veggies, but that's only because I want to. It's not the cheapest either, but when you figure that my Chipotle order is $25 it feels like it evens out.

  • @leviosaa we've had some great local places that offered ready to eat meals like that, but they always seem to go out of business, so I stopped trying them because I'd be so happy and then disappointed.  Those were good and the price point was right.  I know I'm paying for convenience and I'm okay with that to a point.  Factor was tasty, but even with coupons and deals, it was coming out to over $7/meal and I just can't justify that level.

@charlotte989875 I'm so sorry to hear that.  I know you had such high hopes.  Is this a "it'll get better" situation or is completed FUBARed?
  • @charlotte989875, oh no!  I'm sorry the new role has turned out to be worse than you were expecting.  I hope things get turned around.
