I'm trying to figure out the weekend here. Everything has been up in the air with the storm and I'm trying to figure out what's cancelled. If it's still on, I'm going to this old timey movie theater to see Tootsie with a friend. I've never seen it, but she loves it. Tomorrow I'm hoping for a long run in the park if the river isn't flooded, and then probably cleaning up the yard.

We got about 2 inches of water in the basement overnight, but I think H will be ok to get it all cleaned up today while I'm working. If not, that will be a delight to work on tomorrow.

But then I woke up with a sore throat today so I might have to blow everything off if I get sick. I did my flu shot Weds, so I'm hoping it's just a vaccine reaction and not actually anything.
  • I'm glad it's Friday.  No big plans for this weekend.  There is a farmers market on within walking distance that I just found out about a few weeks ago, so I might try to head over there on Saturday to check it out.  I've made some maybe plans with a friend, but both of us are the type to say maybe and if one cancels, not care.

I need to get my cleaning schedule fixed and a few other things organized to get on the schedule I'm wanting for cleaning and laundry.  I feel like I'm finally settling into a healthy balance on OCD routines and actual real needs and that's making me pretty happy (and a lot more healthy mentally).

For any F1 fans, the series on Hulu hosted by Keanu Reeves, Brawn: The Impossible F1 Story, is very good.  There are some kind of cheesy moments of drama with Keanu in the in-between interviews, but he does a good job interviewing and you can tell he has a real passion for the sport.  They have all the big names on there and everyone seems to be being very....themselves, I guess would be the word  It's funny to watch Christian Horner still fuming about a double diffuser.

    These are my people.
@casadena, I don’t envy you with the new job feeling. I remember my first few. I also had a horrible supervisor to
    boot.
Booo to all that water @mynameisnot. Helene is in Georgia now right? I thought I heard that.

Heat went on today! Probably the earliest yet. I can’t stand the cold. Tonight is a bunco meetup, and then tomorrow I have a lunch, musical with a group of girls that I have season passes with, then a birthday dinner after that. Ugh.  I’m supposed to go to another birthday even after that.  TNG invited me to it, but I don’t feel comfortable walking in alone to a house I don’t know so I’ll probably meet up with him after he’s done and spend late Saturday/all of Sunday with him.  Maybe we’ll catch a haunted house since they seem to be opening sooner and sooner every year.

  • Stay safe @MyNameIsNot  I love the maybe plans @VarunaTT
Healing vibes N's way @Casadena and will the emails taper off at some point as you get used to the new position or just part of the role?
@charlotte989875 hope work starts to get better for you and hope at least the AC is working at your job @levioosa (can't wish you hope it gets better vibes, I know it's a dumpster fire)

Happy it's Friday. And thankful that all the back to school stuff is coming to an end with this month.  I'm happy to return to work but the meet the teacher nights and back to school celebrations are a lot.  The middle school's welcome back BBQ is this evening, and that's finally it, woo.
Seeing my parents for breakfast tomorrow, they're going away for a couple of weeks Sunday night and we all want to see each other a final time.  I'm going to bake a coffee cake after work but before the BBQ.  Just errands and cleaning otherwise.

  • @Casadena, I'm glad N's tonsillectomy went well!  I've never had one.  But remember being a little kid and wishing I needed it because they always portray it in movies/tv shows as getting to eat a lot of ice cream, lol.

It often feels like that when starting a new job or new role.  Sounds like having the weekend to relax and recuperate a bit is coming just in time!

It is for me also.  It has been an especially rough week personally and at my job.  There are major upheavals going on for two of the projects I work on.  It's been a few months of "get these packages done, but we aren't sure if we're using them".  Then Monday, it was decided that 6 packages are very urgent and they want them going out by today.

Ngl, I initially didn't take it very seriously because I've been told that so many times.  I bust my ass, stress myself out, and work OT.  Only for them to sit in the department manager's warehouse account, waiting months for financial approval.

But he quickly approved the first package I sent earlier this week.  F**k!!!  They are serious this time.  And I regretted not being more productive and that I put other things ahead of these packages (sigh).  Whoops!

Fridays are supposed to be my half days, but that hasn't happened in a long time and today will be no exception even though I am beyond EXHAUSTED.  I already told them I may not get the biggest package out until Monday.  But crossing my fingers I can put all of this to bed, today.

  • @MyNameIsNot Youve been in my thoughts a lot.  I don't think we have any FL posters left.  I hope that's all you guys end up having to deal with.

Also, if you see Tootsie, afterwards go look up Dustin Hoffman's interview about Tootsie with the AFI in 2012.  It's the only time I've seen a cisman truly understand what has been done to women and men about beauty.  He ends the clip with, "that was never a comedy for me" and it made me see the movie VERY differently.

Okay but honestly that sells me to watch it more than the actual documentary part. lol.

TGIF FFR. The thermometer in my office hit 90 and yesterday was cooler than yesterday and Tuesday. I felt actually ill at one point. We have a meeting today and I'm going to bring it up. Like no, you can't expect us (and frail patients) to sit in a 90 degree room. I'm sure it will get no where. They're being so cheap because they should have gotten a back up external AC by now.

Otherwise, SSDD. I'm just exhausted, both emotionally and from the heat. I walked in yesterday to my poor MA crying because of how much work is being thrown on her plate, and she is a strong MA and not a crier in general. I feel like we still have PTSD from Wednesday.

I hope things become smoother quickly! And Healing vibes for N! @Casadena

    Good vibes for today @charlotte989875

I hope the work project finishes up more quickly than anticipated @short+sassy

Ugh flooding @Mynameisnot. I hope it dries up quickly. We accidentally flooded our bathroom (not as bad as 2 inches though) when H accidentally put a drywall screw through a pipe and it was sooo annoying.

Have a great relaxing weekend @ei34

  • @leviosaa they were silly, but the one where I really lost it is when Keanu is coming out onto a racetrack (I think it was Silverstone), and walking towards Jenson Button and the Brawn car.  He has on a backwards ballcap and like...it's not fully on his head? Like kinda just lightly resting and cocked backwards?  And with his long hair...it was just so awkward looking and funny AND it was in slowed down pace.  I had to pause because i was laughing so hard, I'm sure that they had to cut at some point because there's no way that Button could've kept a straight face at that sight.
  • @levioosa could you make an anonymous OSHA complaint?
  • @banana468 I'm about to. I was looking up OSHA heat restrictions yesterday.

@VarunaTT Knowing Keanu and his sense of humor, I bet he knows exactly how ridiculous it is and was dying too. He killed me in Always Be My Maybe.
