Pretty SSDD here which is busy on Tuesdays.  But it's a short week here so I'm admittedly in countdown mode.  Nothing to really report.
  • Busy day!  I have a full day at work and then need to run out to pickup Chiquito, finish work and head to Chiquita's game. Our keeper has a concussion so she's filling in and it makes me nervous PLUS I'm less than pleased that with a keeper on the DL plus another player not passing the concussion protocol, the team is down players and the Varsity coach isn't sending any Varsity players down to help cover so they can play 11 v 11.   Instead it'll be 9v9 at max and there are no subs.
I have to run to get her after the game from school and then she has therapy tonight.
  • Nothing too much going on here.  I'm supposed to go to a debate party tonight, but I might cancel.  I've forced myself back onto the walking treadmill to try and help me through this covid fatigue sleep.  Last night was okay, and I did sleep better, but I'm somewhat feeling it this morning.  I'm ready for it to be GONE.  I'm walking to the library at lunch and debating picking up a sandwich on the way from a restaurant I really like.  Just working away basically and then chilling.

    Otherwise SSDD.
  • Feeling blah after my flu and covid shots yesterday. Arm is sore and just generally foggy.

I have a hair appointment this afternoon followed by dance lessons with H.  Other than that not much going on.
  • The dreaded Tuesday. At least it's going by fast. Nothing terribly exciting here. I've been battling a cold for a few days now and just feel like a funk. There's apparently a chemical fire about 30 miles from me. It shouldn't effect our air quality this far, but being congested is making me paranoid. Apparently, I should move.

I'm hoping to stay up for the debate tonight, but I might skip it and go to bed early. I know there will be some moments, but I'm not sure if they outweigh catching up on sleep.

Ummmm I didn’t even know there was a debate tonight! Is it VP candidate vs. VP candidate?
Good luck with the job @short+sassy! I would even think the coat of living would be cheaper in Cinci if anything? But I’m not up on the uppity around them parts.

Yesterday I went to change my hilton reservation into points now that I shopped enough to get some free nights (it pays to shop!). They were able to do it all fine and dandy BUT then told me I’d be transferred to a short promo and 500 points just for listening.
cut to a very chipper and enthusiastic salelady to tell me about the hilton grand stay vacation packages I’m eligible for and…..
well, I guess I’m listening to a time share presentation for a 3 night stay in Williamsburg for $199. Ack. She listed off a few destinations but just 2 were historical and up my alley.  I don’t have the money for a time share so it’ll be a hard sell.  Plus, don’t underestimate my ability to zone out.  Any advise to those conned into something like this? Lol

  • Yes!  VP debate tonight.

I'll admit I haven't watched pretty much because my mind is decided and the only thing watching will do is see how slowly JD Vance can kill my soul.
  • Just don’t sign anything @CharmedPam and you should be okay!

By noon today I already had 3 hours of meetings. Now I’m about to have 2.5 more.
  • Hello.  I've been on the run since this morning.  I had a dr appt and then ended up hauling DefConn in since he's been going the wrong direction.  They confirmed that he has pneumonia, which I was starting to suspect.  He's not been this sick in so long and it's so stressful to see him so sad and puny.  Go go gadget antibiotics.

We switched phone providers on Saturday and then our new phone provider was down yesterday.  It took me until today to have my phone working correctly.  I hate waiting on hold, but everyone was so pleasant when I did talk to someone.

I slept like absolute shit last night and I have so much to do today, but maybe I can squeeze in a nap.  Ugh.  Tuesday, right?
  • Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear Defconn isn't doing well. Healing vibes to him!

I don't know if I can listen to the debate tonight. Maybe I'm desensitized to the Orange Dumpsterfire, but Vance is just so freaking creepy and awful that I don't know if I can listen to him.

I am stressing about work this week. I think I had a little heat exhaustion because I was destroyed all weekend long. It's supposed to be 105 all week. The fires have flared up again and air quality is horrible. So all of the smoke is blowing in through the open doors with fans. I'm so annoyed it's over 100 in fucking OCTOBER. But global warming isn't real, you know.

    Otherwise, SSDD.

  • Exhausted today. N slept through the night for the first time in a week, so he's on the upswing, I'm just not used to sleeping so hard for so long and have felt groggy all day.

I feel like a bad citizen, but i just cannot watch tonight. I'm all in on Harris/Walz and don't need to be creeped out and stressed by Vance for hours on a Tuesday. I'll read updates tomorrow.

Yeessss!  It's a big reason we chose Cincy.

My opinion for the kind of work I do and experience I have, is there are more job opportunities and they are higher paying, sometimes by a lot, in Cincy.  But how hard/easy would it be for me to get a job?  Eeek, that's the scary part and I don't know.

Houses are SO much cheaper.  The average home price in Cincy is $240K.  In New Orleans it's $237K.  Hmmm, sounds almost identical.  Until you look more closely.  Here are the average square footages for homes.  In Cincy, it's $136/ sq ft.  In NOLA, it's $225/sq ft.  With that said, I don't think it's quite that high in NOLA.  Higher end neighborhoods can be that high or higher.  But the majority of the city? No way.  I live in a decent, popular neighborhood.  I will do cartwheels to Cincinnati if I can sell my house for at least $200/sq ft, lol

But those prices don't include insurance, ie the biggest reason I'm leaving.  Which can cost $400-$1,000+/month.  We also have one of the highest car insurance rates in the country.

Rental rates are about the same.  $1350 vs. $1290 average, for all rentals.  With Cincy being higher.  Though that sounds a bit low for NOLA.

When my H and I started looking at the money, especially for Cincy, it just doesn't make any sense to be in New Orleans anymore.  More money (hopefully) AND a lower COL.  You usually have to pick one or the other.

I might have to take a nap before going to this party for the debate.  I don't really want to listen to Vance either, but I feel driven to participate in my civic duty.  It's a damn problem and I blame my parents.  Of course, when they were doing these things, there was more to decide between than the last 12 years.  TWELVE YEARS of this. I had settled down some, but I'm getting anxious again and think I will re-up my passport.  I made sure to get a Real ID last time.  I know it seems silly, but as a single openly queer woman, I'm worried.

I also kinda don't want to go, for myriad of reasons, but I'm trying to reconnect with this friend.  He invited me in a timely manner and so I don't feel like I can cancel when he did everything I asked him to do.  I need edibles....errand run beforehand!
I don't think it's silly at all. H is a dual citizen, so I've had him renew his other passport and start the process to get me status. I don't think it's a bad idea to have a plan B and C.

Jelly of your H's dual status.  Also, this reminds me that I need to get DefConn's passport.  Thankfully, at his age it will carry him until he's 18.

I didn't watch either @Casadena and glad N is on the upswing
Ughh healing vibes Defconn's way @mrsconn23!  Pneumonia is going around.  One of my cousin's sons was in the ER before being diagnosed with pneumonia last week, and my niece has been home sick all week, adenovirus diagnosed yesterday and pneumonia this morning.  Poor guys.
