Hump Day

Confirmed twice that it's Wednesday, it's been a murky week.  How's everyone?

Re: Hump Day

  • It doesn't feel like Wednesday to me either, since I took the day off Monday. Fall has finally arrived here, at least for now. It got down to 40 last night and into the 30s tonight, but back into the 80s this weekend.

Nothing much going on here. The mountain weekend was really good. I don't feel like working. Election election. Time marches on.
  • I'm definitely in the part of grieving where it's becoming real.  I think I'm going to try and go to my friend's funeral.  I think I need the feeling of finality, since she lived out of town and most communication was via technology of some sort.  It's 2 hours out of town, so I'm seeing if I can catch a ride with a friend, b/c I have no hope of being able to drive.

To end the irritating story from yesterday, B has finally stated she can't go.  I'm 100% not surprised by this, but I'm glad it's official.  TBH, I knew she wouldn't go from the beginning.  There is a whole history behind me and B; she's not a bad person, she's just in a rough space of life and how she's handling it, and I don't like her very much, never have, and I'm selfishly glad she won't be there.

I AM very much looking forward to this event.  It's Jim Henson's Labyrinth in Concert.  Labyrinth is probably my coming of age film and I adore it.  Otherwise, SSDD.  I do appreciate that where I moved my office to, I get some natural light.  I think that's helping my mood a bit.
  • I'm glad to hear DD and Chiquita are doing better @ei34 and @banana468

@varunaTT I'm glad you got the trip figured out. It was annoying but sounds like the outcome is for the best.

Not too much happening over here. I have a less than desirable ultrasound I have to complete after work tonight. I am dreading today a little because my normal staff person is out and my days are always more chaotic when she isn't here. Otherwise SSDD. Just being filled a little more with anxiety day by day as the election approaches.

Sounds like Chiquita is settling in well @banana468 and so glad DD is doing great @ei34!

I sent a pretty direct email today to the boys school admins (after a very polite one last week). They're having an issue with the lock system and their solution has been to just leave all the doors totally unlocked and often unsupervised all day long for weeks. I'm livid. The response today 5 minutes after the strongly worded email was essentially "we've re-evaluated the situation and will be keeping the doors locked". Shouldn't have taken multiple parents complaining multiple times for them to keep up basic safety precautions.

Otherwise crazy this week. Work is super busy, H is out all week at a conference so i'm solo parenting and also trying to be prepared to leave for Disney on Sunday. Feels like a lot, but will be definitely in need of the break!!
Oh good for you doing that .  A propped open door is how my mom was physically assaulted in her classroom after hours.  We later found out that the guy who assaulted her raped two neighborhood women her age.

Oh wow, that's awful! I hope your mom was ok. That's honestly an angle I never considered, but obviously the teachers should also get to feel safe working in their own rooms. I'm glad it's resolved but pretty angry that it took this long.

Yeah it happened nearly 20 years ago.  She's OK but ultimately it had a lot to do with her retiring early.

Years before that it was a propped door that allowed an ex BF into my college dorm.  Doors have locks and need to be used and those are two incidents that zero to do with armed intruders.  I'd be absolutely irate if I found out that was happening in my town.
