Aka Prudie day

Went to trivia last night.  We did well - but other teams did tremendously well, and we still ended in last place lol.  The bonus question was an American Horror Story question and as soon as she said that, I dropped the mic (pen) and said “you’re welcome”.  We got the full points for that, moving us from 10th to 6th. There were some meetup newbies at our table so we had some awkward silences, but it was still a fun night. S came over after trivia, which I thought would be 10 but more like 11:15.  I’ve been having some long nights lately.  His schedule is way off from mine and we’re still trying to sync it.

Nothing much going on here. BIL is in town for work this week, so we met him for dinner last night. It was fun, but I was out past my bedtime too. I have my sister's kids so tonight won't be an early one either. 

We're going to Miami this weekend to visit H's family. It's been a while so it will be good to see them, but I'm really not looking forward to the hassle that is a weekend trip to Miami. AA sent me a thing that I can upgrade to first for $100 each. I wonder if it's worth $200 to be first class for a 90 minute flight. Probably not.

I'm glad tomorrow is Friday.  Nothing too much is going on, just working and reading my new book.

@CharmedPam I love when a trivia moment like that happens.  I used to be on a trivia team of 4:  3 poly sci masters degrees and 1 English lit masters degree.  Our bonus questions for the two halves were: how many SCOTUS justices could you name (1 point for each) and something about literature titles that I can't recall right now..  We just were so far ahead of the other teams after that, it was almost painful.  But it was a moment of total perfection; if it'd been about sports, we would've bombed.

Horrible schedule today, but it is what it is. 

@MyNameIsNot eh, I wouldn't pay that for 90 minutes. We had the same debate with our 2.5 hour flight to Seattle but just seemed so short of a flight for the money. Have fun on your trip!

Trivia does sound fun but I'm very much a jack of all trades, master of none, so I'd need a good team.  I don't think I'd pay the difference for such a short flight @MyNameIsNot, even though flying first class is a dream of mine lol.

Having a different kind of day at work today and a fairly quiet evening which will be nice.

I’m not going to lie, it took me a bit to realize AA was American Airlines and not Alcoholics Anonymous (hey, marry someone who needed SA).  I was like, why would they upgrade you? Lol. But I agree, I’d probably want to see the $200 go elsewhere. Like an airport sandwich and soda! Lol

My trivia triumph, bonus round moment.  History is one of my stronger topics, though I'm far from being an ace.

They listed six historical events and you had to put them in chronological order from oldest to most recent.  Most of them were in the 60s and 70s and I think one was the early 80s.  I spent a few minutes channeling back to my HS history class to remember other events that happened around each one which really helped me nail down the timeframes.  After that, I was dead sure on all of it except for two.  They were definitely in slots 3 and 4.  But which one was 3 and which one was 4.  Aaahhh!  I was leaning in one direction, but not especially confident.

My teammates were strong in other things.  But history was not one of them, lol.  They had no clue.  I went the way I was leaning since I couldn't think of anything that made it decisive.  I was right!

Only one other team had the correct answer for the final question.  Unfortunately, they were the ones already in first place.  But our team went from middle of the pack to second place.  We each got a $10 gift certificate for the bar.  Which we used at the next trivia night to buy each other drinks, lol.

this happened to us too.  There’s a team that constantly gets perfect scores.  Always 1st.  Do you really think people are that smart and know everything? And if they are, what are they doing at bar trivia on a Wednesday night?

Book club tonight!  We read The Boyfriends which just came out and it was an enjoyable fast read.  I have this month's pick and opted for something that's not a psychological thriller so we'll see how it goes.   I get such anxiety at picking because I don't want to make a terrible choice.  I'm 44 and worried about fitting in.

Lol- yea I’ve experienced this team too. It’s not as much fun for the rest of us
