Terrifying Tuesday

How's everyone?  (and it's just a tired Tuesday, not terrifying, I'm just sticking with that Halloween-ish alliteration ;)

Re: Terrifying Tuesday

  • Pretty normal day here, very SSDD at work, and a relatively calm evening ahead.  Trying to keep exH at bay over our latest headbutt, and doing a good enough job, but it's been taxing. My new book arrived last night though so I that to look forward to at least.
  • Yesterday was a very Monday of Monday's at work, so I'm hoping today is less frantic and smoother.

Otherwise, SSDD.  Not even any funny/weird stories to tell.
  • Today is my Monday, so that's fairly terrifying I guess. Miami trip was really good. H's grandpa is doing surprisingly well for a 98 year old with health issues, but I know it's just a matter of time before he takes a turn. We were able to take him out to lunch and even a brewery, so some good memories made. Sadly, it wasn't really warm enough to go to the pool, but we did get to see the sun. I'd forgotten also about the wildlife. We went for a run one morning in a park with ducks the size of chickens and I saw a huge lizard. No alligators though, thankfully.

And now I'm just back to work. Whomp whomp.
  • It's my Monday too, @MyNameIsNot so also terrifying.

Work is crazy today, but SSDD. Weekend was okay. As per my new normal, I spent most of it unable to do too much. I had therapy on Monday and then H and I had an appointment with a couple's counselor. Jury is still out on how I feel about the counselor. I'm leaning towards noooot liking him...but we probably have to give it more than one session to see. I am concerned that he is more Christian based and that's a no go for me.

Otherwise, not too much else happening. We made some plans for Halloween, tentatively. I have a doctor's appointment that morning and then hopefully afterwards I can do some sort of a workout before we splurge on candy.

  • Hopefully the counselor works out.  It’s the pits to have to find a new one and start fresh, but sometimes you gotta.

I was the bride of Frankenstein for a costume bunco party on Sunday and I put some tattoo's on me from temu.  I only tested two but they were too light so didn't use the rest.
I have showered twice and used nail polish remover and for the life of me I can't get them off. I had a doctors appt today and she was like "what is that?" When she went in with the stethoscope, so I had to explain my costume to her.  She tried rubbing alcohol on it, and it wouldn't come off for her either!
So maybe this will never come off? One stitch line is pretty high up too!  If you ever wanted a tattoo but didn't want the pain or expense, just get a $0.87 cent temu one 😂

  • @charmedpam have you tried something oil based instead to remove it?

  • Yesterday turned into a nightmare topped off with some bad news.

An urgent work package came in on Friday, but shortly before I was leaving.  So I sent the package over to the person (D) I've been training.  I told him just do the spreadsheets (that's the bulk of the work) and I'd finish whatever was left on Monday and load it to our database to send the suggested order to the engineer.  He has poor attention to detail so his work can't be trusted.  But I can review it in 10-20 minutes and fix any errors.  It's the only thing he does that usually saves me time.  Usually.

In a nutshell, we get a spreadsheet from a detailing company.  We use that as the "base", but also add columns/data and edit data.  He massively screwed up the main spreadsheet.  But in a way I don't check for because they are columns/data that shouldn't be touched.  Fortunately, the engineer checks for other things and alerted me to the discrepancies.

The data that should have stayed in those cells is long gone and I have to go back to the original detailer's spreadsheet and prepare the package from scratch, smh.  But that was after I'd wasted two hours of my time reviewing D's work.  Fixing mistakes.  Then trying to figure out what was wrong with the data when the engineer sent it back.  I was expecting to spend a total of about one hour on that package yesterday.  I spent almost the whole day on it and was super pissed and stressed about it the whole time.  There was a slew of other missteps he made that compounded the problem, but then my already long post would be twice the size.

Murphy's law. I normally don't have D complete urgent packages.  I do them because I'm a lot faster and more accurate.  If this package had been requested on ANY other day but Friday, I would have done it myself and none of this aggravation would have happened.

    --------

While all of this was going on for work, I was also dealing with a hassle from the new company taking over the management for the gig work my H does.  But the contract is with me, so I have to handle all this stuff.  The current company gave them a ridiculous e-mail address for me.  It was (MyfirstnameMylastname@yahoo.com).  I have NEVER set up an e-mail address like that with anyone.  I do have a yahoo address that is my first initial and last name.  But they don't have that address either.  They have my gmail account only, which is what they use.  Because of all of that kerfluffle, I got my paperwork late and was then running into issues getting it submitted by yesterday's deadline.

Last, but not least and really the most disappointing one.  I was supposed to meet my mom and stepdad in Baton Rouge today.  They are on an RV trip and were coming down from visiting family in OH.  Spending Tuesday with me.  Then moving on to Houston to visit his sister.  But I got a text from my mom last night that one of my OH cousins tested positive for COVID.  They had spent time with him over the weekend and are now really worried.  My mom is 75 and medically fragile.  They are driving straight home because they don't want to be so far away, jic one of them gets sick.  Plus his sister and her husband are elderly, so they wouldn't visit them either now.

I tried to talk her into still meeting up for a couple hours.  We could hang out at a park.  6' apart and wearing K-95 masks.  I jokingly reminded her my immune system is very strong, even if it is dysfunctional.  And that I am fully vaccinated.  But she thought it best they didn't expose me, even if it was unlikely I could get sick.

But that was a reminder it's been almost a year since my H and I got our flu/COVID vaccines, so we need to get that taken care of this weekend.

About 4 months ago, I started using a different and much stickier patch for my CGM.  Slightly gross TMI, but dirt quickly collects around the edges.  I often end up with a dirty looking line around the patch and it stays there until I take the patch off.

The first time I wore it, I didn't attempt to try much while I was wearing the sensor.  But once I took it off my H and I were surprised that the usual suspects, rubbing alcohol and soap, didn't work much even when vigorously rubbed against the line.  My H had a spray bottle of "Goo Gone".  Surprisingly, it had fairly natural ingredients and nothing toxic so we tried that.  It wasn't great, but it worked with a couple applications over a few minutes of rubbing the sticky dirt line off.

Recently, I found something even better that works while I wear the sensor also.  During Prime days, I bought some Elastilift hyaluronic acid plumping body cream in the blue bottle. I'd heard good reviews it can help with loose/sagging skin.  The jury is still out on that.  I need to get better about using it regularly.

But when I was putting some on my upper arm, a little bit got on the sensor patch edge.  As I rubbed it in, I noticed some of that dirt caught there just rubbed away with it.  Bingo!  Any sticky dirt left after I take the patch off, comes off with just a few wipes.  I couldn't believe how well it worked after all the other things I'd tried.

@levioosa, mentioned oil-based.  I looked at the ingredients for that Elastilift cream.  There are a lot of them.  There are the first three:  Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Mineral Oil.  There are also a number of seed oils and coconut oil.

    Perhaps oil is the magic!

  • Ugh, I'm sorry @short+sassy. I know you don't get to see your family that often so it must be so disappointing that they feel they have to get home quickly, even though it's understandable. And how annoying about the work issue.

  • Thanks everyone. Someone else recommended oil too, but it didn’t work.  I read the back of the package on the “how to remove” section (which was not easy to see). “the blue pigment generated by magic tattoo would fall off with the metabolism of keratinocyte, so it takes 15-20 days.  If you want to remove it in advance you can use exfoliator water to fade the tattoo”.
    😯
That must be a special water because exfoliation and water didn’t work!

  • Maybe micellar water?
