Wedding Woes

Freaky Friday

Just too perfect of a name for this Halloween week.

Getting my hairs cuts this evening, finally.  It desperately needs a reshaping and I guess I should figure out what hairstyle I'm doing.  No big plans for the weekend.  There's loads of F1 (Brazilian GP and it's a sprint weekend), so at least I have something to concentrate on.  I'm pulling down one of the 3D papercrafts I haven't done, a book nook coming tomorrow, just my regular chores, and I have a load of movies, so hopefully I can control my anxiety.

I commented elsewhere that I know Gen Z uses "rawdogging" incorrectly, but I'll be damned if the next few days in This American Life doesn't feel like I'm rawdogging it.  And tomorrow is 6 months without alcohol, whoot.  I do feel tons better without it, in all the ways.  My social life has taken a hit, but I honestly think that's for the best.  I've had more fun on the outings I've had w/out alcohol being the focus, have more fun when I go, and life is a lot cheaper.

Re: Freaky Friday

  • That's a huge accomplishment, @VarunaTT! 6 months sober is such a big deal.
  • Boys had an absolute blast trick or treating and their best friends from school stopped by right when we were getting home so they got to compare candy buckets for a bit before dinner :)

Pretty chill weekend. Swim lessons tomorrow morning and H's fam coming over for brunch on Sunday. OTher than that just cleaning and hanging with the little dudes.
  • Yay for weekend! ToT was cute last night. We ended up sitting out by the street and socializing with the parents as they went by. I met a few of our neighbors for the first time after 5 years of living here, so that was good.

It should be a fun weekend. I've got to hit up costco tonight as soon as I get off work, then we'll grab dinner somewhere. Tomorrow, one of my BFFs from college is coming to town to get out the vote. We'll probably get lunch and I'll go do some canvassing or something with her. Then we have a big game (soccer) tomorrow night. Sunday I'll hopefully get some chores done. Sunday is my late brother's birthday, so I should try to see my family, but I just don't want to right now.

And you've reminded me that I've got to do something about my hair. I'm texting my hair friend now.
  • Congratulations, @VarunaTT!  That is an accomplishment, and I'm glad you feel so much better.

We came up to Chicago to see the grandsons ToT. They were pretty cute- Harry Potter, Captain America and Ironman. They went out with some friend along with parents. I stayed at the house to hand out candy. We don't usually get ToTs at our house so it was fun seeing all the kids in costume. Actually they didn't have as many kids stop by as I thought they would. This morning we walked the twins to school and will picking the little one up from preschool in a few minutes. Tonight is twin2's first basketball game, tomorrow swim lessons for the youngest and indoor soccer for twin1. We will head home Sunday.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Glad the littles had fun @Casadena and   @ILoveBeachMusic and the weekend plans sound nice @MyNameIsNot
    Congrats on 6 months @VarunaTT

Happy Diwali to anyone who celebrates. Lots of families in my district do, so I’m off. There isn’t a sizable Hindu population in my kids’ district, so they have school today, my favorite combo lol.  ToT-ing was fun. I’ve already switched out the Halloween decor with my Thanksgiving stuff, I love that holiday and November in general.  Met with a fellow teacher friend after I dropped the kids off at school for a power walk- she’s very athletic and pushed me to a jog, which I was kind of hoping she would do.  Came home, switched all our bed linens to the warm/winter ones, and now completing the most boring PD ever but it’s asynchronous and I’m on my couch / here on TK so it’s fine.

Pretty quiet weekend ahead- the temp is dropping so I’m definitely making beef stew one of the two days.

  • Congrats on 6 months @VarunaTT.  I bet you are saving a ton on no alcohol consumption.  I cut back drastically but even a drink or two going out is awful!
glad TOT’ing went well for everyone.  My nephews loved it, and the littlest (2) was grinning ear to ear after every house when he caught on what was happening. What, candy in MA BAG? For me?!? Lol. I’m glad I took the day off to spend with them.
My sister has a 12 year old and 9 year old and they’re scared of a lot of things. Especially the 9 year old. She texted us with “I guess Halloween is not for kids anymore? Scary decorations like killer clowns and electric chair props”.  I look around at what’s up these days and I tend to agree with her.  I saw a few adults dress up as Michael Myers last night taking their kids out. The kids may not know who that id - but the mask is scary in itself.
