Wedding Woes

December Monday

How was everyone's Thanksgiving?  Hope nice weekends were had by all!

Re: December Monday

  • It certainly feels like December here, it's been in the 20s/30s for the last few days, I recently had my boiler cleaned and tuned up, but the house has felt really cold. I think just the adjustment to colder air.

Thanksgiving was really nice and we are into Christmas mode.  We decorated the house and tree Friday and had a festive city day on Saturday (ice skating/winter village at Bryant Park, a look at the rock center tree although it gets lit this Wednesday, St. Patrick's cathedral and an awesome lunch at a super Christmas-y restaurant).  Yesterday was mass, lighting our own advent candle, and paying almost 3x more on ebay than Lego charged for a sold-out Lego set that's at the top of DS's list.  Ho ho ho...
  • Our break was really good! Thursday we made a big breakfast and then dinner. We got to go to the park for a nice long walk and otherwise just hung out and enjoyed the down time. Friday's hike was cold but so good. We saw snow on top of the mountain! Considering we haven't had snow here in at least 4 years, this is a pretty big deal for me. My hiking buddy and I are considering doing a few days on the AT in the spring and I think this one helped inspire us to start planning.

I'm not excited to be back at work already, but at least it's only 3 weeks before our next break. I don't know if I'm burning out or just annoyed at where we are in this project, but I'm not interested in work right now at all.
  • It has been so cold here! 14* this morning when I got up. Brrrrrr. Pup really had to go outside but didn't like it. I did brave it to the Y for spin class but didn't really want to do it.

Thanksgiving was good. My kids plus grandboys were here. Friday we went to a train ride to see Santa which a local hardware store does every year. The boys still wouldn't sit on Santa's lap but they did talk to him. Saturday we went to Mad Ants game (the farm team for the Pacers). The boys loved it. DS1 and DIL left Saturday afternoon after we decorated the tree and had lunch. Everyone else left yesterday. I've been in cleaning mode since then. DD and family will be back in two weeks to go to Yuletide, the symphony's Christmas show.

I plan on finishing wrapping presents this week. Saturday we go to DS2's and visit a Yuletide village near him. I also plan on stopping at the Lindt chocolate outlet. Hopefully the weather will have warmed a bit since the village is all outside!
  • I am so cold!  It feels like we went from nice autumn to Arctic blast and I would have loved a buffer week but it seems like we don't get those.

Thanksgiving went well and Chiquito was fever free the entire day.  MIL pissed me off and I am still mulling over if I bring up her comments to DH or let them go.  I'm usually one to know she's never going to change but I felt insulted and am determining if I need to set a boundary both with my husband and then with his mom or if I need to just let it go because it's not worth it.  I'm starting to feel too perimenopausal to be a doormat.

We did get a tree Friday and now the house is pretty much decorated so we're in a good spot looks wise.  Chiquita's birthday is tomorrow so mentally I'm not even really Christmas shopping until that's over and I have cooking for it to do tonight and tomorrow.

  • Things were good here too! Thanksgiving was good, we got our tree Friday before H went to camp. Then we got 2 feet of snow in 24 hours and I learned how to use the snow blower.

I did minimal shopping this weekend- honestly all the emails and deals and whatever is overwhelming. I feel like I’m never sure I’m getting the best deal so I just don’t buy anything. I did get M a Tonies for Christmas and some new jeans for myself but that’s it.
  • The four-day weekend was GREAT!!!!  I desperately needed a break from work and to chill out.

Thanksgiving was really nice.  My H cooked the whole meal.  He's an expert at cooking a turkey.  It's never dry anyway but was especially juicy this year.

I've been on a weight loss stall for almost a month and was worried about that heading into Thanksgiving weekend.  Plus I've been kinda flaking on taking my GLP-1 weekly shot.  It's probably been 10-14 days since I last took it (eek).  I ate more calories and carbs over the weekend than usual but broke my stall and lost 3 lbs!  Go figure.  It's counter-intuitive, but I swear sometimes just shaking up the normal routine tricks the body into getting back on track.

I hit up the BF/CM online sales at Walmart a bit and heavy at Amazon.  I briefly looked at Old Navy also, but nothing caught my eye.

Now that the weather is chilly, I put on my fleece lined leggings from last year.  When I weighed about 80 lbs less, lol.  They stayed up, thanks to my legs and hips.  But were almost falling off my waist.  All righty then!  Good time to replace them.  I also got a few new bras because my old ones are too big now also, including a strapless one.  Alas, this part I am not excited about.

In my search for leggings, I found sherpa lined sweatpants.  Yeeesss!  The leggings and sweatpants have already been delivered.  They all fit and are toasty warm.

Me going into the big shopping weekend, "I'm not buying a new dress for my work's Christmas party online.  I'd rather buy it in person so I can see how it looks."

What did I do?  Buy a new dress for my work's Christmas party, lol.  It's so cute!  I think it will look nice on me.  But mainly it was only $21, so not too big a gamble if it doesn't work out because I never remember to return things.  I'll also have time to get another dress if it's awful.  Here it is:

  • Get it @short+sassy, it’s super cute and great price.
Glad everyone had such a great (or mellow) Thanksgiving! Mine was the same.
I didn’t buy a single cyber Monday deal.  I guess I bought out the entire internet since November 1st 😂

  • Very cute dress @short+sassy! Glad everyone had a good weekend.
