Wedding Woes

Tuesday

How's everyone?  Hoping it's not the usually terribly tired Tuesday many deal with.

Re: Tuesday

  • Sent the kids in with all their teacher gifts today, and hoping not too many come home today undelivered.  I still can't believe what a good place I'm in gift-wise, I don't have anything left to buy or even many loose ends to tie up.  I do have to wrap the kids' gifts but purposely hold off on that a bit.

There was a minor verging on major aggravation at work this morning, before the day even began, but it's (mostly) sorted by now.  Tomorrow my dept is doing our holiday gathering, before school works best for the majority so we're leaning into breakfast.  I'm starting my overnight cinnamon rolls after work and will bake them off tomorrow morning around 5.  The younger two kids' teachers gave me the ultimate gift, no homework this week, and even the oldest (in middle school) doesn't have math hw this week which is huge.  So the extra free time will help with baking the rolls.
  • Oooh @CharmedPam it's a peeve of mine if I'm doing something that's clearly leisure and me being on my phone isn't a disturbance.  I will say there are times I think it's rude like at the movies or if you're supposed to be paying attention in any kind of lecture setting - but the reality now is that we're moving in a fast paced environment.  I was at Madison Square Garden and they had policies in place for phone free events and I thought to myself that I will not be attending those especially in the parent-zone.

G is FIVE today!! Fastest 5 years of my life. He's so grown up and was so excited this morning :)

Had my holiday book club with the school moms/teachers last night and it was really fun. It's the group that I really like and want to be better friends with but don't know how to break in, lol. Good goal for 2025.

This is the busiest week maybe ever. Holiday parties, dinners, book clubs, christmases....I'm looking forward to it all but also looking forward to sleeping at some point.
Happy birthday G!!!! What a great milestone & celebration!!
  • Trying to wrap things up. I’m taking time off the next two weeks and I’m annoyed at everyone who has tried to fit meetings in before that. These are not December problems people they’re for January!

Its spirit week at school and today was “festive headwear” which we don’t have so M went in a dinosaur mask.

The client I work for is having a holiday party tonight.  More like the early evening (4-6pm).  I'm leaving work an hour early to go.  Edit;  ooohh, I just found out it is walking distance to the office.  Nice!

I even threw some make-up in my purse to put on later.  I realize for many women that is an everyday norm.  But I almost never wear make-up, lol.

I took my first shot of a new peptide this morning and am excited to see how it might work for me.  It's called Semax and a lot of people use it as a nooptropic to treat ADHD.  It was actually invented in the 1950s and extensive research has been done on it.  It's commonly prescribed in Russia and other Eastern European countries, just not in the US.  Because pharmaceutical companies aren't going to spend crazy money for the clinical trials needed for FDA approval, on a peptide they didn't invent and can't patent because it already exists (sigh).

From what I've read it's supposed to work fairly quickly, but can take a few days to see an effect when you first start taking it.

I'll give it about a month or so.  But if Semax along with the non-stimulant ADHD med I'm already taking is still minimal help, I'm going to have to go big guns.  I've already found a local psychiatry office with great reviews that charges $280 for the first appointment and that also includes an ADHD assessment.

But I'm really crossing my fingers I don't need to go the stimulant medication route.  It's more expensive and such a PITA.  Plus those medications have a huge list of potential side effects, some of them very serious.

  • We had a really nice meal out at an old inn a few towns away last night but DH is still feeling off/anxious.  I'm going to run out to see if I can get him a test kit to see if he may  have anything going on or if these are his body's responses to stress.

Tonight is Chiquita's concert for the HS music dept and tomorrow is Chiquito's orchestra concert.   It's my last full week of the year and next week I only work Friday.   We're hosting so I have a good amount of prep to get going and will need that weekend time!
  • @Casadena, Happy birthday, G!  Especially a milestone considering everything you all have been through.

@VarunaTT, Love you called him out on that!  So true.  I'm also pretty bad about staying in touch with people, but am always responsive if they reach out to me.  I know I should make more effort, but at least I don't have guilt.
