Hi Everyone!

I'm fine.  I really appreciate you all thinking of me.  I was tucked into bed fast asleep at my house when this horrible tragedy happened.

I don't know anyone who was planning to be in the Quarter on NYE, so I don't "think" I know any of the victims.  There weren't any sad e-mails about coworkers when I got to work this morning, so fingers crossed on that.

When I was talking about NOLA not being safe on NYE, I was really more talking about drunk drivers.  A terrorist attack was not what I was thinking of.

It's a sad and somber city right now.  It's always upsetting when someone purposely goes out to murder strangers, whether with a rifle or a vehicle.  But it's even more startling when it happens in your backyard.  I know some of you have lived near similar incidents.

Tomorrow is Friday, which is a half day at work for me.  I already made appointments for my H and I to donate blood for the victims.  It's at least doing a little something when I feel so helpless.  He is O+, which is a universal donor and there is a shortage of that type in the area even before this.  I am B-, which is a rarer blood type.  Everyone's donation is important, but I feel extra compelled to help.  

Edited to add:  Fear in the city for the future also.  The Sugar Bowl was postponed to today.  We have that bowl game every year.  But we're also hosting the Super Bowl in February.

@short+sassy I'm so glad you checked in!  It's a scary space to be in to see what occurred and to see what could have materialized based on the findings.  The Las Vegas situation is also disconcerting.
