Wedding Woes

Thursday

I didn't want to interrupt the post for S&S down there.  I think most of the other NOLA knotties (old school and I can no longer remember their handles) have checked in on my FB, so as far as I know, everyone we know, should be okay.  I figured S&S would be in bed, but I was nervous.

I have pinched a nerve in my neck when I slept wrong a few weeks ago.  It's slowly getting better, but it just aches all the time and has been causing headaches.  I've been babying it, taking Motrin, and slowly stretching.  It is getting better, but if it doesn't get healed up by the end of next week, I'll have to go to the doctor.

I'm so ready to be back on schedule.  My entire body is yelling that it's Monday and I messed up my chores schedule, but that's not true.  Harley is also discombobulated and has been wreaking havoc all morning b/c we're not snuggled up watching TV with coffee or playing and she's furious about it.

Is anyone making NY resolutions?  Mine are basically the same, which is continuing to progress with my mental, financial, and physical health, go out with friends at least once a week, and working on my hobbies (reading and building) more.  I'm also still trying to add fiber arts somehow.  I'm thinking about knitting or crocheting a 44/LH Ferrari scarf.  I did do my year spread with tarot and got the devil reversed for my "energy" for the year (which is actually a good thing).  I do love the art so much on my cards though, this is the devil card:  https://ibb.co/ZMW6gV8.

No other big news.  Work has been busy, which is good, it's making the day go by fast.  Harley is locked in my bedroom, b/c she basically sat in the middle of the apartment, loafed up, and started meowing as loud as she could at me.  She's had calming treats and she'll probably go to sleep now that she's in a non-stimulating dark space.  Please Harley, go to sleep.

    Ouch @VarunaTT!
you reminded me that part of my resolution is to do more reading/diamond painting/and now puzzles. I want to try that too. I just need to stop the TV and reel watching that sucks me in and stops me from life. I would love to stop frivolous spending, but that will never ever happen for me.
It feels like a Friday for me because I’m wfh.  My admin and I made the decision to wfh today too since it would be just the 2 of us.  I did go in go check deliveries/mail because she wanted to do it but she’s 40 minutes away and I’m only 10.
it’s 72 in my house and I’m freezing. My legs feel like ice.  Should I be concerned?
Edit; but as far as starting 2025 - that takes place on Monday the 6th, right?

  • Yesterday and today I've been busy organizing and straightening stuff. Today I went through my kids "school stuff" boxes. My youngest is 30 lol! I paired down to one medium size box for each that they get and will make decisions about the stuff I didn't toss. Needless to say our recycling bin is filling up fast! Tomorrow I'm going to hit a box of other family stuff - old pictures from our parents and paper work. I know I'll keep some of the paper work because it is my Dad's orders from when he was in the Navy. He joined during WW2 and retired in 1967. I only remember his last posting (Rhode Island) so it will be interesting to go through that stuff. This weekend I plan on taking down more Christmas stuff.
  • @VarunaTT, I hope your shoulder continues feeling better and especially that your headaches stop.  I have a "frozen" shoulder in my left arm, but it causes my neck to feel stiff also which is uncomfortable and sometimes painful.  It's annoying when problems need to migrate to other areas!

@CharmedPam, I definitely feel like Monday, Jan. 6th is when the real 2025 starts.

Oof, I felt bad on New Year's Day.  My mom had tried to call me around noon and also sent me a text message.  She didn't think I'd be in the Quarter at 3am, but she's a mom so she worries and wanted to make sure I was okay.  But I didn't have my phone near me and it doesn't alert me if I have a message.  She called again at 3pm and I at least caught that call.

I just saw a news article there was a mass shooting in Queens last night.  10 people were shot, fortunately there were no life-threatening injuries.  But they were all teenagers (16-19).

I think I need to stop looking at the news for a few days.  Maybe I'll be brave enough to look again when 2025 "really" starts on Monday.

That is very cool historical family info!  My maternal grandfather lied about his age to enroll with the Navy during WWII.  He was 16.  But was also born and raised in Hawaii, so it was especially personal for the folks there.  He didn't make it a career, though.

Before enrolling, he had a p/t teen job running the projector at the local movie theater.  The Navy said, "Great! That's your job here."  He spent the war flying all over the Pacific Ocean setting up projectors and running both training and entertainment movies for the troops.  He said he sometimes flew back and forth across the International Dateline so much that he had no idea what date it was.

All the money that was in Hawaii or shipped there during the war had a giant red "HAWAII" stamped on it.  That was done so if the Axis powers took over the islands they wouldn't be able to use the currency.  Scary to think what a real concern that was.

Overall, I don't know much about his service.  My dad served in Vietnam and I don't know much about his either.  It just didn't feel right to ask about the time they spent at war, even if it was my grandfather and father.
