Wedding Woes

True Monday

Returned to work on Thurs 1/2, but oof.  Today is Monday for sure.  How was everyone's weekend?

Dealing with the hormonal headache from hell but on a free period now so I'm about to eat and then take a Motrin.  Was it you Casadena a couple months ago that said you feel crappy, no idea why, and then a day later get your period?  And it all makes sense again?  Bc I am definitely guilty of that lol.

Monday/headache crabbiness aside, it's flurrying here and sticking and very pretty to look at.  And I made chicken cutlets yesterday that'll be a nice ready-to-go dinner later.
  • I have to figure out dinner - I made a lasagna over the weekend for dinner Saturday and ate that last night but I want to vary up the leftovers.

Weekend went OK.  Saturday was a fencing tournament and Chiquita didn't perform the way she wanted.  She snapped at me and told me her poor performance was due to my presence and when we got home I calmly and nicely told her that her comments were unwarranted and I wasn't having it.  I don't want to throw her off her game and flat out asked if she actually wanted people there.   We had a good talk and I think we came to a solution.    In my anger while I cleaned with the help of no one I went out to get lasagna ingredients because I wanted a meal I was going to like if I was going to be having my feelings hurt.

Sunday I busted out my New Years present to myself which was an O-Cedar microfiber mop/spin bucket combo which is a sign of my middle aged-ness that I loved it.  My kitchen floor is still horrible looking but it's now clean and horrible looking.  I hadn't gone over it since pre Christmas and that sucker got into corners so I LOVED it.  It's going to be part of the routine.

Chiquita made BIG improvements to her room.   In the last week she's filled 3 big garbage bags and there's a long way to go for organization but it's coming.  The mess has been so bad that I have to flex my core muscles and lean to hang things up in her closet and I flat out  can't get under her lofted bed because of all the things under it.  And don'tget me started on the candies and bags of food.  It was waiting for critters and I was grossed out.  So progress is made and it's not clean but it is better.  We bought her speakers for Christmas and I told her she's not allowed to open them until her desk is clean because there's flat out no space for them and we're not going to start setting up items that will just fall and break.

  • @banana468 Chiquita sounds exactly like my niece.  She’s around the 12ish age mark right?
Then again, it also sounds like me at that age…

Weekend was great. Saturday I went to the city and saw Les Miserables. Fantastic! I even signed up for the 2025 season package since I wanted to see 4 of the 5 shows. Then I jumped into a lyft, back to the burbs and went to the improv. We had $10 tickets to see a very funny comedian Jessimae Peluso.  She had us cracking up the entire time. 6 of us ladies went, and she got us all without having to be extra crude.  She had the “I’m the hot sister” bit so I got her tote (pic attached) and had it signed, but now I’m thinking I have to gift it to my sis…otherwise I’ll probably look conceited, right? Lol
Sunday I took down Christmas, cleaned up and did some stuff around the house.  My wurtual planner arrives today @VarunaTT, but I pulled some cards from my fave deck and got some very inspiring and uplifting cards.  This is my go to and it nails it every time:

  • @CharmedPam I really like the journal.  I've been having fun with it.  It's also well made, which I was happy about.  When you order from sites like that, it's always kind of a leap of faith on quality of product.  But the notebook, stamps, and stamp pad are good.  I pulled the Devil reversed, for my year energy and that felt good.  This is my deck and it's the first time I've really connected with one, b/c it's all women and the art is stunning:  https://tinyurl.com/akdfj7a8.  They offer some classes that sound interesting too, but I'm doing a no-spend January (no new purchases, only replacements and essentials), so none for now.

I didn't get snow-pocalypse in my area, but north of me did.  We had a few inches of snow and ice, but looks like everything was plowed.  It's so cold here nothing is going to melt away yet.  It was so nice to roll out of bed, change into warm clothes, and never step a foot outside into the horrible cold.  I can tell I'm getting older b/c the cold just hurts and I hate going out in it.  I was supposed to go play cards tonight and canceled.  My friend understood, he said he was keeping "last minute cancellation" open for themselves and the other players b/c of the cold.  They have that condition where the blood doesn't flow correctly into all of their limbs, so they're cold all the time anyway, so understood.

I'm so glad to be back on schedule, honestly.  Everyone is like, "Oh, it's a full work week" and I'm over here cheering.  It helps keep my routine in check, so I don't mind at all.  Saturday I did nothing but catch up on Silo, b/c I got a deal for 3 months free of Apple TV.  Then did prep cooking on Sunday.  I'm trying really hard to maintain prep cooking this time, b/c it's so much better for my health and budget.
  • I hope you find that work/life balance @levioosa!   And welcome back @mrsconn23!
  • @levioosa I'm so sorry, I know that work struggle and it's horrible.  I'll keep vibing for that transfer though.  My primary is an NP and she lost her assigned nurse and was also terribly unhappy about it.  She said they just can't keep people in that position b/c it's an LPN and most go on to get their RN and that position doesn't pay enough to keep the RN.  Big hugs.  You've got so much going on.
  • Hi @mrsconn23, I was thinking about you the other day! Glad all is well (minus the employment part)
@VarunaTT, I’m so glad you liked it. I just wanted the planner (and use my own cards) and stickers but I’m not one to pay for shipping so I just bought the entire bundle lol
@levioosa your situation sounds awful. You should not dread work 5 days before going back. You shouldn’t even be thinking of work!

  • I haven't been out of the house for two days due to snow. I think the roads are clear enough today to go to the Y. H and I are starting  buddy training with our trainer today. We will train together on Tuesdays. I will train by myself on Thursdays and he will on Fridays. This gets him training twice a week. Next will be getting him to do some cardio. He really needs to be more active so he doesn't turn into an old man too soon (he's actual already has)!

Sunday and yesterday I took Christmas stuff down. Today I start the cleaning before putting normal stuff back. I love having Christmas decor out but I also like a period right after it all goes away. It's kind of a reset.

Great to "see" you @mrsconn23! I've been wondering how things were going with you. Fingers crossed that the 1st quarter will bring you employment.
