DS had a good trip to the orthopedist yesterday, he has a hard cast now and is thrilled that it's "candy cane" style, aka two colors.  I sent him in with some sharpies and he's excited to have it signed.  Mom win I was told it's completely waterproof (I said "so a few drops of water can get on it in the shower?" and was told no, it can actually be fully submerged in a bathtub!), so that makes bathing a lot easier for me these next six weeks.

Decade day at work today and the kids outfits always crack me up.  I'm in an *nsync tshirt (that I own unironically) rocking the 90s as usual.
  • I love that you love the theme weeks!

The older the kids get the more I loathe so much of them.  It just feels like so much work to figure out which shirts to see if we have and how to create the right outfits.
  • And spam auf deutche to boot.

Not much going on here. I'm finally adjusting to the time change and the sun is out, so that's nice. I'm really hoping that we're past any risk of freeze. My poor lemon tree is dying to be in the sun, but he has to stay in the house all winter.
  • Yay for waterproof casts! I can only imagine what a godsend that is to parents everywhere. lol.

I am tired. Work is busy today but technically manageable. I couldn't fall asleep until about 1 and I was up at 6:30 plus I woke up a lot. Also Daylight Savings can suck it. lol. My mom sent this really annoying self deprecating text last night to the family group message. I get she is grieving, but also most of it is just how she is normally. It also put me in an awkward position and just once I would like her to function like an adult and share some thoughts with her therapist, not everyone all the time. And don't tell people I'm being burdened by helping out. I mean, it's true, but it makes me sound like I am complaining about it. And I'm not. It's hard and sad but it is what it is. Ugh.

Otherwise, lots of rain (apparently) this week. It wasn't supposed to start until the afternoon but it's already raining and the mountains have some more snow. I am in a loaner car because I took my car to be serviced yesterday and they found a cracked oil pan. The pain is more in returning the car because while my car will be ready today, I'm not off of work until after the service department hours close. I hope they will let me return it first thing in the morning.

I've been here, just working my tail off.  My task list is anxiety producing, but I'm working through it steadily.

Otherwise, SSDD.  I think a friend is coming into town this weekend.  She was supposed to come for my birthday, but weather interfered.  I can't believe it's only Tuesday.  I also need to eat lunch, but food just sounds blah.  It'll probably be a baked potato with chicken and some random veggies on it.  Probably add a protein drink to it, just to up the protein.

ETA:  I loved the title, @ei34.  Also, I went looking but I can't remember the board I started on and I think it's gone now.  Maybe merged with an old board to become Snarky Brides?  I can't remember what board that was now either.  I came over to WW pretty quickly, I was intrigued by the reputation of the board.  I thought everyone was great.  The board was a lot busier then, didn't have the GIANT ads all over it, and there was always internet drama happening.  I've been through 3-4 screennames.  I had to change one b/c I didn't understand internet security, one was banned, I can't remember what happened with the other ones.  I know the "TT" was meant to stand for something at the time, after having been banned.  Who knows, it's been awhile.

Advice from brides! It was the scary board when I joined circa 2007.

I do miss the drama, tho.
  • Man I miss a good snarky brides post

YES, that was it, AFB  All, the drama of Roses4EveryWh0re and AFB will never get old.  And Elfstergate.  And masondixonwed where she was Knotstalked by that one woman, who came to her bridal shop even.  Just random stuff.

I know I didn't post on AFB, it was another one and I can't remember it at all.  I know it was one of the more active ones, but once I came over to WW, I never ventured very far out again.

ETA:  Not to imply that WW didn't ever have drama.  There were some definite moments.
  • Chit chat basically imploded which is how I ultimately ended up on WW (and don't regret it, you ladies are great!).

  • Wasn't there some big "Chad" drama too?  I don't remember specifics but it was huge at the time.

DH went to the ED by ambulance last night as he was having chest pains and shortness of breath.  We arrived about 10:45 PM and at 2:30 AM they decided to admit him;  I went home about 3 AM and came back at 10 this morning.  Did a cardiac work up and now he's down in the cath lab probably having some stents placed.  My work team has been wonderful in covering, even with another co-worker dealing with the death of her MIL yesterday.  I'm hoping to get some more sleep tonight.  The cat usually sleeps with DH and she just didn't know what to do when I got home last night.  So I was up and down with her shenanigans.

  • Oh no I'm so sorry @MNNEBride. I hope he has a quick recovery and the procedure goes smoothly. *hugs*

  • So many  hugs for you @MNNEBride.  That's A LOT.

Yes- I think there were Chad shenanigans on the E board.  He was a regular and then I think it all blew up perhaps in a drunken night?  But there was a lot of speculation that there was no Chad and so much of the E board was a lot of cryptic posting from people who crafted these personas online.

Yes, either Chad got drunk one night and confessed that he was a middle aged lady who had made up the entire story on the Knut OR someone found a blog that was Chad, really a middle aged lady, talking about how she had made up this entire personality, I don't remember which....or maybe it was both?  I didn't see any reveal on the Knut, I don't think, but the boards were ON FIRE that entire week.  I remember Chad's daughter's name was Winter, b/c I could never decide if that was fun and clever or stupid AF.  I mean, Autumn is an accepted name, so why not all the seasons.

My favorite reveal though was Wifezilla as the meat buffet bride.  That one was amazing.  I tried one once, as polka dot bride, but I didn't have the stamina to keep it going.  That was back in the days when everyone had their pages and you could put pictures and stuff on it.  I do miss those.

@MNNEBride, I'm so sorry.  That's scary.  Stent surgery is scary and it is very common.  Hopefully it's an easy recovery (it just depends how sick he was before) and the stents will help him feel better.
  • Thinking of you @MNNEBride and hoping everything goes smoothly.
  • @MNNEBride :(
@ei34 waterproof casts are the bomb. I remember having to wrap my leg one up in a plastic bag when I had one. It was just easier to stick it out of the shower.
I know I’ve been here at least 10 years. I did ChitChat for awhile, then everyone left it.  I did get a lot of helpful do’s and don’ts on wedding etiquette though, which I’m very thankful for! ❤️

  • Hope all goes well with your H @MNNEBride.
