Wedding Woes

Thursday Prudie Day

Hi. I’m going to arrive to work late, spend some time on my nails, eat a 1.5 hour lunch AND still go to my doctors appt and bank at 3.
I found out about a paranormal convention about 2 weeks ago and talked my friend into going with me. I was even thinking of going alone but that sounded boring. I was surprised I still got tickets and even for the after hours events.  They even had open rooms for the haunted hotel I never thought I could afford, but offered a discounted rate for the convention goers. One investigation only had 1 ticket left so I emailed the organizers and asked if they could squeeze one more in and they made it happen! I’m so excited for this weekend.
Excuse the glue around the cuticles but I don’t want to wash my hands for 1 hour after I put them on. These are my new beloved curvlife press on (glue on) nails. Someone understood the assignment! Also included is my new enchanted disney evil queen ring I bought myself (‘cus a girl’s gotta buy her own diamonds sometimes).

    The weekend sounds great! @charmedpam

Not too much is happening here. Mostly just SSDD. I was hoping I’d feel a little perked up after my B12 shot yesterday but alas, I feel the same. My circadian rhythm is totally fucked right now and I keep being tired until I go to bed and then suddenly I’m wide awake for hours. But nothing else is really happening.

I hope everyone has a great day!

I'll Prudie in a bit, maybe a few from last week too since i dont' think it got posted.

I think the debacle with H has blown over a bit, but still a little tension. Work is work, and I'm treating myself to Chipotle for lunch - very excited. We are have dinner with friends tomorrow night in the city and IL's are hanging with the boys - definitely looking forward to that!

I'm almost caught up on season 9 of Summer House and i'm LOVING season 8/9. Does anyone else watch?
  • I remember buying a groupon for b12 shots years ago. For energy and weight-loss. I felt no difference after even a few so complained and they prorated my refund (so I got the amount back not used). Now, I AM taking Glutathione shots and the benefits are too many to list. I’m not sure about the energy they promise you, but I wonder if it’s a natural antidepressant? I’ve been in a much better mood, but maybe that’s Spring coming in too?

I didn't realize I posted my daily in the wrong post, so please see Wednesday for the latest of Varuna's mundane life.

Also, I'm supposed to go see a speech by Levar Burton tonight, but I am so exhausted from everything yesterday (friend thing, mom thing, moving thing).  I have tickets, but it's also suppose to livestream.  The tickets were free, so I'm not losing $$, but all of the tickets were claimed.  I've tried to give them away, but no one seems to want them.  I'm going to decide closer to the event time.
  • @Casadena I'm sorry you're going through that.  I think especially if someone is feeling overwhelmed that it can feel like they shoulder so much even if that may not be the case.  I hope it gets better.

Rainy day here.  DH is working from home and feeling off.  I have to pick up my prescription for my clean out and will look to see if the local pharmacy has an inexpensive way to check his blood sugar since he feels jittery and we can' tell if it's medication or something else.

Walmart has a bunch of glucometers that are around $20 or less.  But it's the cost of the strips you also want to pay attention to.  Generally speaking, ReliOn has the best prices for both the glucometer and the strips.  I have the ReliOn Platinum as a backup to my continuous glucose monitor.  It's $10 for the meter and $10 for 50 strips.

Hopefully your all's local pharmacy has something in this ballpark.

Most of the big pharmacies (like CVS/Walgreens) have their own "generic" version of a glucometer/strips that are also fairly cheap.

But there are also ridiculously priced systems that are like $1/strip.

  • @levioosa, you recommended months ago that I use Ulta to order my lab work, since I have a high deductible insurance plan and have to pay OOP for that anyway.  I took your advice and used them recently for my endocrinology appointment tomorrow.

Big thanks!  The labs were about half the price their office charges.

I also realized when I got my results that I don't usually see the details.  It was nice to be able to dig into them ahead of time and Google things I wanted more info about and have better questions prepared.  My endo just summarizes the findings like, "Your kidneys and liver are in great condition and functioning perfectly."

Though a negative is when I'm out of range, I don't have any medical training to know how "bad" that is.  Like, do I need to be rushed to the hospital immediately!  Or just increase my water intake a scooch, lol.

One thing I am really excited about is my cholesterol levels have been kicking ass over the last year.  I had high total cholesterol levels for years, but they've been normal levels for my last few appointments.  I also had a major improvement since October for my LDL cholesterol.  It was 101 at my last appointment, but now it's 61.  My doctor changed my statin medication last time and it sure seems to be working.  Alas, my HDL (good) cholesterol is too low.

My sodium level was one point too low, so I hope my doctor is going to give me a prescription for French fries, lol.

I second relion. I bought it based on the cheaper refill strips too and I think it’s pretty accurate!
congrats on those great #’s @short+sassy

Sleep stuff stinks @levioosa , hope it starts to improve soon
@Casadena vibes your way, I saw your post earlier in the week too, and just, ugh.  What a laugh that your H thinks he's doing everything when you never stop.  That stuff is so, so hard.
