    @MNNEBride how are you doing?

    Yesterday was hectic, for several different reasons, still catching my breath.

    Fairly busy weekend, but light compared to last weekend, so no complaints.  Tomorrow will be the first Saturday in over two months not in PT, which is really nice.  It's also the opening day little league parade but it might be rained out, exH is allegedly spending some time the kids, the DDs have another champ swim practice (the championship meet itself is Tuesday evening so the heavy practices are coming to an end), and I'm going to be an extra set of adult hands for my sister at my niece's "friend" party that the DDs were invited to (DS will be hanging around too).  Sunday is just mass, cooking, and a baby shower 12-4.

    I'm very ready for this weekend.  Trying to start getting some stuff packed that can go over to Mom's without affecting daily life still here.  A friend and I had planned to go to a local rugby game this weekend, but the weather is probably not going to cooperate.  Another friend and I love the show Dexter.  I upgraded my Paramount+ subscription to include Showtime.  She's going to come over on Sunday and watch a couple of episodes of the new prequel.

    Otherwise, no big plans beyond the normal life stuffs.  I hope everyone gets some needed down time.
  • Had my last morning walk on the beach and saw one dolphin - I try to go out every morning to spot them. I've seen them all but one day. We are starting to pack and gather things together so we can get an early start home in the morning. We will be spending some time by the pool this afternoon though.

    SSDD. H is frustrated and frustrating, boys are sweet, work is fine. We're seeing some friends tonight for dinner in the city and IL's are babysitting, so i'll pick up the house a bit this afternoon and run a couple quick errands at lunch. Tomorrow is busy - workout for me, H taking G to a birthday party while I take N to gymnastics, then G has gymnastics - home for lunch - then babysitter from 2-6 so H and I can run a bunch of errands for house things like tile/curtains/cars/etc. that are tough to drag the boys to. Sunday is a slow day at home with no plans.

    Made so much progress my personal task list this week it feels good to be moving on some stuff!
  • @ei34 - Thanks for asking

    We're doing pretty good. The upside is that home healthcare is sending PT and OT once a week for six weeks. Hopefully, that will help DH stay active and get home moving more confidently. We also rented a portable oxygen concentrator for a month to try out. We have tickets for the Amy Grant concert in town on Saturday night and hope we'll be able to go.

    The downside is DH's kidney function. After returning from rehab, he was trending in the right direction, but now it's going the other way. The doctor increased his diuretics and will retest on Monday. We are also investigating a "kidney-friendly" diet with low salt, sugar, phosphorus and potassium. DH is on board, so we hope these changes will help him avoid dialysis.

    (I may have shared this already - if so, scroll by) I had a derm visit for several concerning spots and a full skin check. The spots I was concerned about were benign. However, the dr. I saw something on my stomach that looked suspicious to them and decided to biopsy. Pathology came back as superficial basal cell skin cancer. I'm not sure of the next steps yet, as the margins weren't clear. So, yeah, another thing to deal with.

    oh no @MNNEBride I’m sorry! The last thing you needed!
  • A busy Friday and H is going fishing tomorrow all day he’ll stay over and hopefully come back before lunch on Sunday. Fishing is in his words, not as big as hunting so hoping it’s a short trip.
  • @MNNEBride I'm sorry to hear that. I had a basal cell cancer removed many years ago. My derm didn't really think it was anything and turned out to be cancerous. He removed it and that was it. I had to go back every 3 months for a year then 6 months and now just once a year. Hope they will get the clean margins with second removal as in my case. Fingers crossed.

    I’m so sorry @MNNEBride. I’m glad you made the appointment. This diagnosis is scary but take heart that basal cell is usually caught early and isn’t typically aggressive like melanoma or squamous cell. Cure rates are very good once clean margins are obtained and then you’ll need additional follow ups with derm for skin checks a few times a year. And of course continue to wear and reapply sunscreen and hats. I actually have an SPF shirt that I wear in the car during the warm months that is light and breathable but protects my arms and chest when I’m driving too. And I have gloves that I wear now while driving to protect my hands.
