Hump Day

How's everyone today (besides tired, I'm sure we're all feeling it!)

Swim meet went well, the girls had a lot of fun.  Tonight is just counseling, otherwise pretty ssdd. Super ready for the weekend, even if it's a few days away.
  • It's SO COLD.  I'm still in thermal layers and a turtleneck.

Chiquita has a concussion so she's not competing today in her track meet and can't practice until she's cleared which is hopefully next week.

Chiquito has baseball practice and is pumped to use his new bat but...it was 30 degrees this morning!!

So so cold!  The DDs missed their softball game last night bc of the swim meet, but none of us minded- it was in the low 30s with a real feel in the 20s, ouch!
Hope Chiquita starts to feel better soon.
  • Thanks @ei34!  Her headache was improved this morning so we'll see.

I have been sneezing up a fit since yesterday and my nose keeps running.  I looked it up and it's apparently an effect from being on oxygen and it's improved but my family has loved hearing me sneeze 9-10 times in a row and my 45 year old self is not a fan when this hits and I have a full bladder.
  • Legit smarten up weather and make up your mind! My feet are freezing here at the office and I HATE being cold.
Last night was my annual spring closet clean, I have 3 bags going to good will tonight (instead of loading them
up in my car and driving around with them in my trunk for months). Tonight, I’m going through my cabinet and tossing old skincare away. The feeling of declutter is (or will be) amazing.
three of my friends booked a b&b room in Michigan for June and it looks like a great place to stay. A possible 3 more may come with us too, they’re still deciding. The more the merrier.  It’s funny because we were going to do this trip 2 years ago with a different meetup, and I booked the same b&b then too. Back in 2023 it was $3 more! Wasn’t expecting it to be cheaper in 2025! But now I must focus on paranormal travel.  Girls weekends are fun and all, but the paranormal conferences are fun with a capital F.

Yay for spring cleaning! I am almost scared to throw away stuff right now unless it’s outright broken because I feel like everything is about to get so much more expensive. Ugh I literally hate clutter.

Thinking of you and DH @MNNEBride

@banana468 minimizing as much sensory input as possible (screens, reading, bright lights, etc) will help her recovery along. But keeping an ADHD teen from screens might quite possibly take an act of god.

Day is okay. Yesterday was a lot but I survived. I decided just to text SIL. It might be stubborn but I’m not apologizing this time. I was reactive, but I didn’t start the spiral and I’m tired of receiving all of the blame. The bear has seriously zen’d out over the years but if you poke it enough and it bites back you shouldn’t be surprised. She’s obviously not going anywhere as family. So I’ll continue to scale back on our friendship and keep it more surface which I was already doing but I’ll do even more of now. I need more friends. Being an adult and making friends as an adult really sucks. And I’m just a little sad because there is really a huge hole where friends go. H is great but he’s so anxious and overstretched and I’m trying to emotionally keep the house together for both of us. I tried looking at meetups again but it seems like most of it is either wayyyy too wooowoo spiritual stuff or hardcore Christian or just business advertising. I’m sure there’s stuff closer to downtown or the OC but that would require 1-2 hours of traffic and that kind of defeats the purpose of trying to develop friend groups in my community that are accessible. Is this the new midlife crisis? I would way rather have the urge to just go buy a sports car.

In more positive news I saw a bobcat jump like 20 feet yesterday while on a hike and that was pretty cool. I started painting and man am I terrible but it’s decently enjoyable. Oh and I made a great new chickpea recipe and I think I’m about to be chickpea obsessed.

It's really hard making friends as an adult.  The only new friends I've made in the last decade are either mom friends or work friends, it sometimes feels like there's no other time to meet people.  So big props to those who put themselves out there and make connections with people you don't already see!
