Travel turned into a sh*t show last week. The trip was great, but the flight home was delayed a bunch of times and then canceled, just late enough that no one could get on the only other direct flight that afternoon. Originally i was rebooked for an early am flight with a layover that didnt' make a lot of sense. Eventually got booked on an evening flight to LAX, then took the red-eye home. Boys let me sleep for a few hours and then had a very busy but fun weekend!
LAX is the worst airport and I was reminded why I avoid it. Tunnels on dark hallways, on windy corridors...terrible signage. Just UGH. Only saving grace is that they do US customs in Canada so my one hour layover was just enough time.
Lots of outside time and a birthday party this weekend! Very happy the weather is starting to get a bit nicer.
ETA funny story: Was waiting to board my delayed flight and sat down at a cafe right next to G's oncologist, lol. Small world!! We had a nice chat and i got to meet her husband and sweet little baby girl.
Things have just been sold lately. I feel like I’m barely popping in here. Work is busy. The boys are great, M got ice cream in an actual cone yesterday and was SO excited about it. J was mesmerized by H’s milkshake. Sad weekend saying goodbye to my godfather, but nice to spend time with the family.
H and I are taking three days off this week to put together a new armoire in our room so we can finally get rid of dressers that we’ve had since grad school!
DH and I talked about looking for a car and are basically putting it on hold for now. I don't *need* it and we'll keep watching how the current car is while watching the used market.
We had a decent cookie booth Friday night and I chilled out Saturday reading up a bit and doing laundry. The weather was cold and dreary and yesterday I went for a hike with Chiquita which wasn't warm but at least was dry and a nice way to get out of the house. The kids are on spring break and I've tried to tunnel through laundry.
Busy Monday for sure. Lax does suck @Casadena, and you didn’t even get to experience the traffic around that place! I remember years ago flying into LAX and getting to my destination was a beast. Glad it all worked out though!
weekend was good. Had a Touchstone party to go to, and my friend made it whose surprise birthday was that night. I gave myself a pat on the back for saying “see you Wednesday” instead of “see you tonight!” if was rough because SIL would have been 36 on Saturday. I thought of her that day and how unfair life could be for some people. I was a bit quiet with friends the following day. I didn’t reach out to my bro, I didn’t know if I should or not.
Yesterday we did go to Jim Gaffigan in Milwaukee. He was great as expected, but I have laughed more with other comedians. Not a bad day though. And it was me with my 3 cruising friends, so we had a blast.
The weekend was pretty good. Relaxed some on Saturday and then I got groceries and did a Walmart run. Got everything for Easter dinner but didn't find a ham I liked. Sunday I was worship leader and then ran a few errands and picked up a ham at Aldi. Came home, did laundry, crafted and cleaned off the deck. My brother is here today power washing in preparation for staining it later in the week.
I had my skin biopsy re-do this morning—except it was delayed another two weeks. The dermatologist didn't like how it looked. I have a reaction to the bandage adhesive. There was also a portion of the edge of the wound that looked like the start of an infection. So I have to vinegar soak 1-2x a day for 2 weeks and come back 4/29 after my work trip. It's not the end of the world, just disappointing.
Weekend was pretty good. Yesterday was GS3's 4th birthday party (today is the actual birthday along with H's). It was a bowling party. He had a great time. I had forgotten how little kids bowl! It was pretty comical. Today we gave him his present from us - a bike. He was so excited. I made a chocolate cheesecake for H. It is his favorite and I only make it for his birthday every few years. None of the kids liked it and my SIL doesn't like it either. Go figure! Oh well more for us. We are here the rest of the week filling in for the nanny.
