Weekend here was really nice, my niece's First Holy Communion on Saturday being the highlight.  Yesterday the sun came out and although it was chilly (the high was about 50) I got a lot of yard work done.
Today's big win was my phone had an update last night and I woke up to the option to set my emails back to one inbox, sorted by nothing but date received, woohoo.

Was it an android @ei34? My friend said she did an android update and HATES it! I’m still grumbling about iphones last update. My phone says I have 534 passwords saved (yup, I use my phone for everything!) but my keychain is broken and saved nothing!
Weekend was OK. Shen Yun on Friday (honestly I expected more for the price) and trivia on Saturday which we failed miserably at. Still a fun night though. Sunday WAS nice and I went for a walk but was groggy the rest of the day and in and out of sleep

  • Weekend was really great. Boys wanted a family room sleepover on Friday after school so we did that. Saturday I worked out and then we all worked on getting the boys room updated - I painted a their dresser nook and sorted all their clothes, H and the boys put together their new beds - we just need to hang pictures and we're in business! We also rearranged their room and they LOVE it. Hoping that continues :) Had a "camp" dinner saturday night and cooked hot dogs and smores in the fire pit.

Yesterday we had a nice play date with a friend of G's that moved a few months ago. Met at a nice park we've never been to and then had a fun lunch all together. Got home and worked more on the boys room, then i took them to the park while H finished up!

Busy week at work but all good stuff!

We're vising my parents this weekend and it's H's birthday and my dad is retiring on Friday! It will be a nice celebration :)
  • I'm back.  I had SO much fun when BFF was here.  TJ Klune is incredibly charming in person.  The moderators were terrible and Klune was able to keep the conversation going and told such funny stories.  BFF was wearing a "Loud and Queer" tshirt and Klune called it out during the talk.  Klune was signing 2 items/person, but had to go down to 1 b/c his hand was tired.  But he stayed to sign something for everyone and there was a HUGE line.  I was so excited that my little city in this red, Red, RED state showed up and out.  There was a pretty big crowd for the event, probably 200 people?  For those reading The House By the Cerulean Sea, there IS a sequel AND he's writing a 3rd book, he announced.  It will be about Lucy and Klune is exploring "a real parent comes to the orphanage", so it sounds lovely.  BFF and I agreed there were other orphans who's story we were more interested in than Lucy but I can see why Lucy is a focus (Lucy is short for Lucifer....yes, the magical orphan is the Antichrist and so his real parent coming to visit should be....?)

We then went to my local hangout, b/c BFF likes the crowd there.  We had so much fun just talking and vibing.  We realized that though we've seen each other fairly frequently the last few years, we're always with other people.  This was the first thing we've done by ourselves in awhile.  We talked each other's faces off until 3 am!!  Then we got up to go to breakfast with Mom and just goofed off until he had to leave at 1:30.  We've also made plans to go on vacation together in October.  I will have to have a separate room though; he snores.  He says his insurance won't pay for a sleep study and I'm about to push the money for it to him, he neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds it.

Back at work and the grind. Nothing much else going on.
  • I'm back from my work trip to the land of @short+sassy. It was a good trip, and we decided to fly home last night rather than wait until today, as severe storms are forecasted for the upper Midwest. The rescheduled route was actually better—only one layover rather than two. The conference was excellent, and our presentation went well. Lots of folks thanked us for the presentation and wanted more information.

We stayed very close to the Superdome. Wednesday afternoon, we walked to the Riverfront and then took the trolley back to the hotel. We did a jazz dinner cruise on the steamboat. The food and music were excellent. Thursday, we took the streetcar to the Garden District and walked around. There were beautiful homes and gardens. Then we went to the French Quarter to shop and have lunch.  We had po-boys and daiquiris while we people watched and listened to a band.  My co-worker suddenly got up and said she'd be right back.  Turns out she saw her cousin across the street - how random!  They had been in the area for a national bowling event and decided to take a day or two in New Orleans.  We had beignets, walked Bourbon Street, and bought alligator jerky to bring home.

Our conference had a second line parade to lead us out to workshops on the first morning - very fun!  One night, a vendor had an after-party.  It was a 1920s  Speakeasy theme with a murder mystery customized for our industry.  Very fun (@short+sassy, it was in the basement of the Orpheum Theatre).

I crashed hard last night as I was worn out!  Sounds like it might the last conference we get to go to for a long time, so I'm glad it was a good one.

DH did well while I was gone.  My mom stayed here but also did her own errands and such during the day.  I sent her a big bouquet of flowers today.

Tomorrow I have the second procedure for my spot of skin cancer.  Hoping they get clear margins this time.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed your work trip in New Orleans!  Sounds like you all had some good experiences.  Those were some really cool events your conference set up.

    That's wonderful @VarunaTT
Sounds like an awesome (and successful!) trip @MNNEBride and good luck with the procedure today
No it's an iPhone @CharmedPam had an update a month or two ago and all of my emails were suddenly separated into categories I didn't ask for lol.  But now it's thankfully back to just order of receipt, which works best for my mind.
