Fri-YAY -- THIS ONE, NOT THAT ONE!! 5/23 :D

I'm sooooooooooooooooo ready for this break, even if I am moving in the middle of it.

Nothing much to report.  I'm getting my hair dyed blue or purple...or maybe blurple, tomorrow.  Then, I have plans to go see a local band do a David Bowie night.  Other friends tell me the band is really good, so I'm hoping I love it.  It'll be outside, so hoping for nice weather too.  It is at a brewery, but I looked them up and they have NA cocktails, which makes me really happy.  Sunday I will go over to Mom's, break down some things I have over there and build my last piece of furniture, so that I'm ready to move in there.  Then hopefully watch more of the new Dexter series with my friend.  Then pack, pack, pack, pack, move, move, clean, clean, and peace out.  Last night the new tenants in the apartment next to me, who have children, were obnoxiously loud until almost 10pm.  If I was staying here, I'd have to go talk to them, but I'm not, so I'm just trying to let it slide for the next few days.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend everyone (in the States).

I'm looking forward to the break too. I'm just unmotivated this week.

The cleaning person returned a text yesterday and said her daughter had surgery, and she had neglected to reschedule with me. So she's coming next week. This is her first time being a no-show, so it's all good, but I hope it doesn't happen again.

Work shenanigans were awful yesterday and they sucked the life out of me. I got some stuff worked out but I’m still deeply unhappy about all of the chaos and changes. It’s just really disheartening.

Anyways, this weekend should be okay. Our neighbor invited us over for BBQ tomorrow so we need to go pick up some drinks to bring over. I’m not sure what our plans Sunday are. Monday I plan on spudding.

Is this the right Friday thread? You have to make it more clear @VarunaTT 🤭 good luck with your move!!

Having a crazy day at work but wishing everyone some restful moments this (long) weekend!
  • @VarunaTT, good luck with the move!

As it is every year, I am bitter that Memorial Day isn't a holiday at my work.  We trade it for Mardi Gras day, which I would normally be understanding about, except we already get a scant number of holidays.

At other places I've worked, MG day is switched for President's Day which is also much closer on the calendar.  I was always fine with that.  But President's Day isn't a holiday here, so it's switched with Memorial Day instead.

Other than that, it's a good day and I'm looking forward to the weekend.

A bit annoyed with my neighbor friend.  She got a gig job that's crazy hours, 80+ hours/week.  I understand why we haven't been in touch too much lately.  But earlier this month, we had made tentative travel plans to go to the Catalina Wine Festival which is next weekend.  In the past, she often spent months working in Los Angeles and owns a boat out there that she'd live on.  We were going to stay on her boat for the festival.  I followed up with her last weekend to see if she was still going so we could coordinate our flights, but she still hasn't gotten back to me.

I suspect she hasn't returned my text because she still doesn't know.  There wasn't a definite date as to when her gig was ending.  I haven't spent any money so NBD that way.  But she should have texted me back and said that.

It's too late for me now.  The flight prices have become ridiculous since last week.

Now she owes me a trip to Catalina (kidding)!  I found a $132 r/t direct flight to LAX next month for a long weekend.  No wine festival (sniff, sniff).  But it would still be a lot of fun to hang out and day drink on the boat and beaches.

@short+sassy I cannot think about the Catalina Wine Festival without thinking of the movie Step Brothers lol.

It's SO COLD here.  Currently 55 degrees and dark and damp on this opening beach weekend.

We made no plans with DH still feeling awful.  He's been referred to massage therapy for the pains in his neck and next week has a few more tests.  He's just exhausted and sleeping poorly so I'm kind of hoping that if I keep at least Chiquita out of the house a lot that frees up time for him to sleep.  Sunday we have a party that I'm taking her to and Monday is our town parade with Chiquito marching in it.  We have plenty to do but nothing that's involving all of us which may work well if he gets down time.

The friend I'm going with said that festival didn't exist until AFTER the Step Brothers movie.

People thought it was a real event and the island was INUNDATED with calls/e-mails looking for the next year's date and where to buy tickets.  Catalina decided since there appeared to be a demand, they SHOULD start having an annual wine festival, lol.

She and I talked over the weekend and decided to go to the Beer Festival instead that's next month.

We're far enough out the flights are super cheap $122 r/t from NOLA to LAX.  Direct flights both ways!  That is through Spirit with only a personal item allowed.

But how much stuff do I need for day drinking and lying on the beach?  Not much, lol.

The only bathing suits I had were from before I started losing weight and don't fit anymore.  So, I bought four bathing suits from Amazon yesterday to choose from.  Plus a 3-pack of sundresses for $30.

  • I actually didn’t know that was a real fest till I looked it up before!
I know mardi gras and labor day are far apart, but you’d think you’d swap out those two dates instead of memorial day, since that one honors the military and people who fought for our freedom.
Yay for having to get new suits @“short+sassy". What a fun reason for having to!
